I also LOVE to speculate. Here's what I'm thinking:
Cataclysm will essentially be a new launch for WoW. I don't think they'll break up the pace of leveling up anew in the old world by railroading us to Outland and Northrend. You should be able to go from 1 to 85 in the old world alone. Of course, I am not sure but it seems to me they (rightfully) want to do away with two continents full of boring stuff because nobody plays those anymore.
5th year anniversary or no, to me 3.2.2. seems to be buying Blizz a bit more time. It will probably hit late October, early November. Onyxia is a single boss, so about two months later everybody whould have been able to at least experience the fight once, I'm not expecting 3.3 before January 2010. Then they still have to ramp up a beta, which may very well start late Q1/early Q2 of 2010. And I'm 100% confident they'll release a 4.0 beofre the actual expansion. The events of Cataclysm aren't going to take place overnight, so they got plenty of stuff to gradually change the old world with and keep us more than happy. I'm not expecting Cataclysm anytime before autumn next year, and seeing what they can still throw at us, especially if they make a 4.0, we should have little chance to be bored out of our minds.
I personally cannot wait, and I'd love them to release it early next year. But we have to be realistic, this Cataclysm isn't going to occur after an extenden maintenance and suddenly everyone i nthe Old World will be offering new quests, Orgrimmar is destroyed and already being rebuilt and Desolace isn't turning into a lush forest in 8 hours. They'll do this gradually, as they should, IMO. It is the only way it'll make sense.
Very impressive that you can keep it up, and it's great to have an outlet like WoW. As others said, this really puts things in perspective and makes whining about broken raids and patch days seem trivial.
I'm playing Horde on EU-Lightbringer, yet I still /salute you, and will remember to do so in-game. I'm staying tuned for next week's interview.
I really wonder why the impression is that tech support lends itself well for sneaking in some WoW time.
Me and 30 colleagues have to support 26,000 employees of an insurance company, and there is never a dull moment. I arrive at work, phone rings and doesnt stop ringing until I go home.
Of course, in weekends and evenings when I work from home it doesnt tend to be that busy, so I just mind my own business and spend my free time as I like, as long as there is a net connection I can be of service to people.
