Far Cry Instincts Predator marks territory on XBLM

Aug 31st 2006 1:24PM (Joystiq)
If you've played it on Xbox - pass on it. The Evolution campaign (which they added when it got ported) isn't worth the price of admission.

If you've only played Farcry on the PC - get it. It's got 2 new campaigns, new play style, and feral abilities - rock on, literally. And this is coming from a die-heard PC FPS gamer. I've never had more fun with a FPS on a console using a controller. Crazy isn't that?

If you've never played Farcry and own a 360 - run, don't walk to your local gameshop and pick it up. It's easily one of the best FPS on the console to date.

Joystiq hands-on: Taking Test Drive for a test drive

Jun 20th 2006 8:02PM (Joystiq)
I was sold as soon as I played it. Graphics are great, physics are a bit squishy, aliasing is a bit rough - but you can literally drive anywhere, including off-road. Very cool. Lots of questions - it'll be cool.

I'm anxiously awaiting this title. I wish EA was doing something like this for their Need for Speed franchise.

I'll probably buy the PC version.

DDO solo play now available

Jun 7th 2006 1:27PM (Joystiq)
I actually think the game has serious potential. After coming off of a 18 month WoW stint it was actually a refreshing experience, even considering some of the valid criticism above.

Group play was great - more intimate gameplay, voice chat rocks (no TS or Vent required), narrator is a cool element (needs to be used more, imho) graphics are great, and the average age of players is higher - which is quite refreshing.

The UI needs some aesthetic and functional attention (loot icons are too small, description of items not too clear), no open world to explore, instances only (ie guild wars). There's lots of little world and dungeon inconsistencies but I have faith in time it'll get tightened up.

I cancelled my account and will be awaiting some maturity in the game before I come back. Once it does though - I'll play and I know I'll have fun.

Single player review - Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (Xbox 360)

Spot on review.

But you come off a bit whiney.

That said, it's nice to see a review that's actually thorough and critical.

Bizarre experiments underway -- PGR4 "looking good," but needs more smoke

Mar 8th 2006 1:19PM (Joystiq)
If they'd just add anti-aliasing, fix load times (off-load the damn game assets to my drive already) I'd be more than happy.

Either way - PGR4, I'm game.

Half-Life 2: Episode Two confirmed by Valve

Feb 21st 2006 7:06PM (Joystiq)
Does anyone even remember, or care, about the questions that remained at the conclusion of HL2?

Episodic content. Damn, the load time on those levels felt like the wait time for Aftermath.

Talk about milking IP.

Move on already Valve.
