D3 brings Puzzle Quest and friends to XBLA

May 1st 2007 11:30AM (Joystiq)
The one genre I play the least is now available on XBLA, big whoop, is that the response to Calling all cars?

New Sadness artwork is not screenshots

May 1st 2007 11:24AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
err, is this game going to be in Black/white? that'd be the first since Ping Pong no?

The new artwork look like actual 3D models of the game, so I take that as the closest thing to actual gameplay screens. I hope this game succeeds.

Wii Warm Up: EA waggle

May 1st 2007 11:20AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
It depends; if used innovativly and well, it will succeed, but companies shouldn't feel bad for not being able to come up with any ideas for it, they could always use the controller horizontally or just stick with the controls on it and the nunchuck. Even the SSBB developer said he might be using the GC cotnroller (which I doubt will really happen) over the wiimote.

Analyst fight ensues over whether or not Wii is bad for gaming industry

May 1st 2007 11:17AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I wish Pachter would have also noted that the third party companies who have actually put on the effort of making quality titles on Nintendo systems have all been succesful. If you look at the best selling third party games on the N64 such as turok and xtreme G, and Gamecube, such as Resident Evil and Soul Calibur II, they have all been quality titles. 3rdP Companies are complainng because other games like Madden arent selling well because nintendo fans are used to quality, exlusive games on their systems. red steel isn't that great (but still decent) of a game yet still sold relatively well just because it was exclusive (and the only "mature" title at the time).

Kutaragi already planned PlayStation 4, 5, 6 and cold fusion

May 1st 2007 11:01AM (Joystiq)
Konny, that's a dumb arugment. By your analogy, people can't critisize president Bush unless they have been president themselves. Plus Kutaragi wasn't the sole idea of the playstation franchise, sony fans give this guy way too much credit.

Kutaragi already planned PlayStation 4, 5, 6 and cold fusion

Net-based as in all games would be downloadable and you pay for them online? If that is the idea, he would be excluding the whole third world and many other people in the developed countries out of the gaming industry, I don't see how that would be a step forward, business wise. Maybe him stepping down was for the best.

Why is the PSP not putting up a video fight?

May 1st 2007 10:51AM (Joystiq)
#8, There is no way the PSP could beat the iPod even with a storage drive, the iPod is more versatile and comes in smaller cheaper shapes. The PSP tried to introduce the UMD which everyone, apart from Sony and the money hungry hollywood hopefuls, knew would never be a big hit (Didn't Sony previously had mini-disk players before the ipod era?)

Sony's mistake with the PSP is in its name, Playstation Portable, they assumed that the handheld market is just a portable version of the console market, and tried to use the same tatics they had for the PS1 (system that plays games, music and movies, and uses disks rather than catriges) without taking into account the battery power, the demographic, and what types of games that are most popular on the handheld market; mini-games, RPGs, and Nintendo games themselves.

IF there will be a PSP2, knowing Sony, they will take all the criticisms and Nintendo's ideas, and make the PSP2 touchscreen, with a flash drive and other bells and whistles. Maybe they'll even make it a cellphone like they had intended for the PSP before the N-Gage flopped.

Sony eyes May 16th for PSP Go!Cam in PAL regions

May 1st 2007 10:38AM (Joystiq)
So how does this thing improve the PSP gaming experience? Until then, the Gameboy camera still would be a funner (cheaper) buy

New Gears of War maps hit this Thursday

I'll wait, I'll be playing RE4 Wii meanwhile

Why is the PSP not putting up a video fight?

May 1st 2007 9:36AM (Joystiq)
Truth, PSP can not compete with the DS or Nintendo in the handheld market, Sony might as well admit their loss and change their shift to what actually might have some potential; the videos. The PSP could be campaigned as a portable downloadable movie player
