Gamestop distributing Celebi before Pokemon Black and White launch

Feb 16th 2011 5:29PM (Joystiq)
Can I like sit in my car in the parking lot near the Gamestop to do this? Cause I'm too embarrassed to go in and do this...

PSA: PlayStation Network content must be re-purchased on Xperia Play

Feb 14th 2011 4:14PM (Joystiq)
Massive fail here. This whole Playstation Suite thing is going to crash and burn if they don't fix this. They said at the NGP press conference that the stuff made for Playstation Suite would work on NGP, and i'm going to assume that means you won't have to pay for it twice when playing on NGP at least.

But if Sony is using the Playstation Store UI and not the Android Marketplace to sell the actual PSone games to people then they should be a part of the one time pay package.

Crysis 2 writer calls MW2 'an immense disappointment,' praises Uncharted 2

Apr 11th 2010 1:31PM (Joystiq)
MW2 was a fine game and the reviews praised it for a lot of the stuff it did right (multiplayer etc), but so many of them criticized the story so what this man said is not a surprise and isn't controversial in any way.

Consider Alan Wake's DLC a 'Christmas Special'

Apr 4th 2010 2:12PM (Joystiq)
Since the developer is European and it seems to me (at least from British shows) that Television shows over there tend to do special episodes that take place separate from the main season. From what I've seen they tend to be Christmas Specials. So that is what I picture this. Not that it will take place during Christmas but it's the same general style.

Steamworks adding microtransactions, upped cloud storage limit

This is obviously for the companies that want to offer pay content. I highly doubt Valve will be doing this themselves.

Study links violent games to violent thoughts and behavior

Mar 1st 2010 3:04PM (Joystiq)
The only real relevance any data that violent videogames can lead to violent behavior is for parents to decide what they want their kids to see, or if the government itself wants to put money toward games with violent content. Otherwise i'm sorry, but we have lots of freedoms that lead to some bad things, but it's the price we pay for free speech. As others have noted EVERYTHING in our leaves leads to violent thoughts or "behavior". Just seeing this story makes me angry. Does that mean i'm actually going to go out and kill someone? Hell no. Some of the worst things in the world that I disagree with wouldn't lead me to violence either.

TheSpeedGamers aim to catch every Pokemon in 72 hours for charity

Dec 19th 2009 3:21AM (Joystiq)
This is impossible. I mean I just don't see how it's possible. Are they just going to catch every Pokemon that can be caught in the one specific game they are playing? Are they going to trade to other versions? There are over 100 pokemon that can only be obtained by playing the GBA versions and copying over, and there is a limit of 6 pokemon copied over per day. So I'm sorry to say but this is literally impossible. I'm just going to assume they are just going to catch every pokemon available in the specific game they are playing.

Mass Effect 2 ditching elevators for ... load screens

Dec 7th 2009 10:02AM (Joystiq)
lol this is amazing. For years Bioware games (and others as well) have had those stupid loading screens with random artwork where the game would tell you some bit of trivia that repeats itself an insane amount of times. So much so they I would start to go crazy when I would see it. I kept saying "Do anything else! Even a Half-Life style thing where the game pauses for a second, but doesn't fade or go to a new screen would be better than this!" So with Mass Effect they went with the elevators which were better, but still repeated stuff. I figured they were taking steps in the right direction :( I guarantee you we are getting to an area of gaming that the best films have disowned. And that area is focus testing. Play testing is a very important part of games, but what people want isn't necessarily what is best for the game. People often don't know what they actually want, and it takes a smart person to figure out what to take as valid criticism and what to throw out.

Amazon ranks Call of Duty-est towns in America, large dining utensils in the lead

Nov 4th 2009 2:15AM (Joystiq)
Looking at that list it would appear at first glance that it is cities that might not have a huge amount of easy to access gaming stores.
