Wii's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare screens can't be helped

Aug 20th 2009 11:13PM (Joystiq)
Yep, MGS2 looked far better than this, and that came out what, one or two years into PS2's lifespan?

Now, plenty of games still don't measure up to MGS2, but it's not much to ask for at least the level of DETAIL that it had, if not the art direction.

Sony: PS2 back compat not returning to PS3 (ever)

I think this is a bad idea; but I may well wait for PS4. I don't hate the PS3, but one of the biggest reasons I want one is that I've had my PS2 since launch, and its age is showing. It's absolutely backwards to buy a $300 console AND spend another $100 to have a completely separate console-- for that $100, they could've built in backwards compatibility, and sold me a single unit which takes up less space, is less clutter, and has more features (PS3's upscaling and other firmware goodies)

It's one thing when your console won't play DVDs: the Wii can get away with it because everyone has at least three DVD players right now (computer + other consoles + an actual DVD player; I personally have around 7 to 10 machines capable of playing DVDs, and that's nothing special). Not everyone has PS2s sitting around, and even if they did, it makes sense to have more than one DVD playing thing hooked up to your TV (Xbox, PlayStation, VCR, computer, stereo, etc.) because it happens unintentionally. It makes no sense to have two PlayStations.

Because interactive software = video games.

I wonder how many computer users started to complain when people started to use their computers to play games. Computers are SERIOUS BUSINESS after all, can't have those fucking casuals dragging it down.

I think a document viewer should be built in the firmware, as the video and music player is, but I would definitely like to see that.

Persona 3 coming to PSP with new female character

I'm not buying P3F again, but now I'm torn. Do I wait for a P4P that may never come, or do I buy it and miss out on portable goodness?

big: Of course you pay more in fines if you have more money. The fine is supposed to be a deterrent to committing crimes in the first place, not a fee that you pay for the ability to break the law. If you have millions of dollars, a thousand dollar fine is not going to be very noticable. It provides hardly any dissuasion from repeating the action in the future. One that is proportional to income does not have that problem.

Patent says: PS3 just wants to see you laugh

Go look up Life Line. You can get the USB headset for PS2 for $10, and the game for $4.

You play the game primarily by telling the character what to do, verbally. Sort of like Hey You! Pikachu, only in Space. And with Aliens. And Guns. And the ability to say inappropriate things to your virtual partner.

Surprisingly emotive game, even if it would be otherwise considered subpar without it's 'gimmick'.

Sega: Giving up on hardcore Wii games would be 'arrogant'

Aug 13th 2009 8:01PM (Joystiq)
Their sales aren't terrible when you consider that nobody other than Nintendo is releasing AAA titles on the Wii.

When you release a game that's just 'pretty good', and expect people to snatch it up because they're starved for games, you're going to be screwed on any console. Especially when most people would rather wait for prices to drop and then buy it.
