And as much as I loved GamePro in the 90s, I do not pay $9.99 for any magazine.

It says that you aren't buying the game, you don't own it, only licensing it. it's similar to Windows. you aren't paying $139 to own Windows; you are only paying to have a license to use it.
There is an article in the current issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly that touches on this topic. And like with the Sonic Generations demo, any publisher can end your use of a game you downloaded pretty easily if your console is online enabled.
