I'll go on record as [apparently one of the few] who enjoyed FFXIII *and* FFXIII-2. FFXIII was a roller-coaster ride - one way to go, but it was an *awesome* way to go - which isn't the norm for that series, and wasn't what many people wanted. FFXIII-2 has a complex and difficult to understand story - but I love it because of that. Most games that try to present complex just end up with incoherent.

About the only thing I agree with is that you *can* enjoy JRPGs without the story. I enjoyed Grandia 3's battle system so much I slogged through the mediocre story. But to say that story is secondary to the gameplay is missing the point.

I have more thoughts about this that I could probably write up more coherently, but I'm far enough down on the page that probably no one will read this.

No, and it fills me with joy to not own one.

I mostly only play them when I'm traveling. Sometimes on the bus to/from work, but that's usually reading or videos.

I only played on Xbox Live once, and thankfully was not subjected to the horrible things I've heard about it. I did get a chorus of "you suck" though - which was probably accurate.
