Portabliss: Jukebeat (iOS)

Aug 10th 2011 7:25PM (Joystiq)
The first thing I did this morning was download the game, all 4 songpacks and post about it being out finally. I've been playing the Japanese iOS release since the day it dropped last year and have consistently bought every song pack, so finally having an English version with some exclusive content (hell yes LETHAL ENFORCERS Medley!) makes me so freaking happy.

Seconding my hope that Scatman hits the songlist sometime soon, along with You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) from the jukebeat arcade location test 2 years ago :D

You might want to clarify, the limited to 1000 edition is exclusively available on bemanistyle.com (http://www.bemanistyle.com/djmp3/).

Amazon only has the standard UMD version (which is also available on bemanistyle for $40 with free shipping in the US).

He-Man Covers the 'What's Goin' On' Song by the 4 Non Blondes

There was a Masters of The Universe remake a few years ago, they made it all hardcore and I thought the art direction was cool, but the concept just doesn't hold up anymore. And it didn't really do the original justice by any means.

Spy nabs pic of rumored Guitar Hero arcade cabinet

I'm well aware, but they're also not at all comparable to the stuff they make for the home market. It's also a lot easier to repair. I will be honest though, I've been playing arcade rhythm games for like 10 years now, and out of all of the games I've played at MANY different arcades, I've only come across one or 2 broken Guitar Freaks Cabinets.

If the quality on these machines is even remotely the same, I'd assume we'll all be fine. And even if not, the game won't make money if it doesn't work so I'm sure most of the big chain arcades will keep them in proper order.

The controllers used at best buy don't use arcade parts like microswitches, or heavy use push buttons. I'm sure that the controllers developed for this cabinet will be MUCH higher quality than your standard home controller.

The Guitar Hero arcade machines that are already in existence are not official cabinets. The Brazilian ones may be licensed in some way, but most of the existing cabinets are just the home versions of the games rigged up to a coin mech. This is a brand new, from the ground up, officially sanctioned arcade cabinet.

I'd have to go with the original Sidewinder PC controller. After being consumed by gaming consoles for so long in my childhood that I nearly forgot all about PC gaming, the sidewinder was what got me back into it a considerable amount (at least until I really got into RTSs). The original still stands (in my opinion) as the best PC gaming controller released (the 360 controller doesn't count).

2nd place I'd have to go with the original 30gig Zune. I had one until I upgraded to a iTouch and I loved it (less the software, it was just too clunky for me). Great player, really reliable. I can only hope the 80 gig is as good.

Gamestop to show you their exclusive Pokemans

Jun 18th 2008 11:44AM (Joystiq)
that's just the base storyline though. Pokemon has always had an emphasis on playing with your friends, and now thanks to WFC there's a whole new community aspect to it. Try getting into battling and actually training. The training/breeding/etc. system in diamond and pearl is crazy, and if you know how to work it, you can come up with some pretty impressive teams to battle with. That's where the lasting power of the series comes anymore. I agree that there are some changes that need to be made to the story and base gameplay itself, but at it's core, pokemon has taken strides in the training/collecting/multiplayer aspect and that's where it really shines.

Gamestop to show you their exclusive Pokemans

First of all, Toys R Us has done this twice in the past year already. They gave away Darkrai like 2 weeks ago. 2nd, you don't have to talk to anyone to get it, it's a mystery gift download so you just need to be within range of their download station.

I don't get all of the negative stigma about people who play pokemon. It's a pretty deep and interesting game once you get past the "kiddie" presentation. It's definitely grown up it's fair share in the past 10+ years, too bad most of the gaming community hasn't grown up with it. It's pretty sad when people aren't willing to give a game a chance because of it's target audience, or general history.
