I don't think it is fair to judge the consoles based on the games that they have. The Xbox 360 has been out since 2005 while the PS3 has only been out since last November, not even a year. Of course the 360 is going to have better quality games and more titles, its been out longer and can better understand how to develop games for the console.
Spec-wise, the PS3 wins hands down. All the technical-specs have been stated and tested in above comments, so I wont waste my time repeating them.
Price-wise. the 360 is a lot cheaper. However, if you are looking to compare it fairly with the PS3, add all the components that the PS3 comes with, and you will see that there isn't too much of a difference.
Look-wise, the PS3 looks like a monster compared to the Elite. But once again, to be fair, add the components that the PS3 has built in, and you'll see that the PS3 does look better.
Overall, I give my point to PS3. Although it is pricey and monstrous, it wins overall.
I dont think I would be able to build this (I've only modded a normal xbox once), but I will definitely pay someone to do it. Email me if anyone is interested.
