Gardening Mama to sprout in Spring {Joystiq}

Dec 3rd 2008 10:22PM I eagerly await the sequel 'Slaughterhouse Mama-Five' in which Mama becomes unstuck in time and is abducted by aliens only to be placed in an interstellar zoo and encouraged to mate with a famous movie starlett.

What this morning's AoC patch notes didn't mention {Massively}

Jun 9th 2008 11:13PM You could already do something about that mammoth blocking your path, just go into hide and walk right through. That's all the crouch is actually, hide mode without the invisibility.

Age of Conan's guilds encouraged not to PvP in groups? {Massively}

May 31st 2008 10:24PM It's worth noting that the official response from the Funcom community leader didn't come on this until the chat-log in question had made its rounds through the forums/community/digg. (some individuals ended up with their AoC forums accounts banned for 6 months simply for reposting the screenshot) The Funcom response is really little more than damage control.

The real problem here are the unclear rules as to what is an what isn't acceptable behavior on the PvP servers. Add to this the fact that Funcom's GMs have what appears to be no accountability and free reign to act as they see fit and you've got a bit of a problem. The original conversation, when taken independently of the eventual official response, very much so reads that the GMs would really rather Goonheim not gank in groups because of the volume of petitions they had been getting about it. In short: Goonheim was making more work for the GMs by playing the game as an organized group. Which frankly, defeats the purpose of the game.

Thankfully the official response clears this up. Ganking as a group is okay, griefing and personal attacks are not.

Age of Conan's guilds encouraged not to PvP in groups? {Massively}

May 31st 2008 4:56PM There has already been an official post from an AoC community lead about this:

So, there seems to be some confusion on both sides of the issue.

Let's try to clarify the situation, and then perhaps we can get somewhere.

PvP is acceptable in all shapes or forms. We have built-in mechanics that allow the player being killed to find a way out of it.. When those mechanics fail or do not function as intended we will step in. Until then we will be as hands off as possible.

Now, we have a lot of players, a lot of servers, and a lot of petitions, as you may know. We do get a lot of petitions on Deathwhisper about "griefing". When do we take action? When it crosses the line. You can camp someone until the next day if you want. More power to you.

What you cannot do is verbally threaten them or use inappropriate language. You cannot use exploits or bugs to kill other players, or for any reason, for that matter. The game is rated M, but that does not mean you can use racial slurs or issue personal attacks.

In this case, the GM was seeing a lot of reports of griefing with regards to SA's guild. He didn't say you couldn't pvp. He made the honest mistake of giving out his personal opinion that maybe keeping a lower profile might be handy in avoiding a negative reputation. Obviously, it was a mistake. If you feel like it, bring all 300 of your friends, enemies, or whatever and beat each other senseless.

It seems that our policies are not clear cut enough, and we will make every effort to clarify them so that there is absolutely no question as to what is appropriate and what is not.

Joystiq impressions: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (WiiWare) {Joystiq}

Apr 15th 2008 7:23PM The concept being put forth here is enough to make we want to buy a Wii.. if the game has enough depth it'd be worth it. Right now I'm imagining the job system from the FFT games with individual units grouped into your different adventuring parties. Stick a fairly deep city building simulation on top of that and I could see myself sinking quite a bit of time into it.

Battle of the FPS Titans: Samus vs. Master Chief {Joystiq}

Apr 18th 2007 11:20PM For those of you not aware. Very likely the Spartan featured in this video is not the Master Chief aka SPARTAN-117 "John", but rather SPARTAN-458 "Nicole" who is featured in Dead or Alive 4.
