250 improvements to one of the best SPORTS games I've ever played cannot be viewed as a bad thing, although you are trying. I'm not really even a hockey fan, just a hockey video game fan, and NHL 09 trumped any sports release I've played in the last five years, and I play Madden, MLB games, NCAA Football, and NBA titles. If it really were the "same shit every year" then EA Sports games would be dying out like Tony Hawk did. They would take a year off and reinvent itself.

I think the issue with the DLC was that it took too long to come out. Most people were either just plain done playing it and had moved on, or gotten rid of it altogether like me.

As an actual employee, normally it is easy to see something is street dated. There's a sticker on the box of the game. The price label says street dated, and the computer when we check in the game says street dated. None of those were there for Stardock.
