X-Play: The Musical ... yeah, you read that right

Jan 29th 2007 11:37AM (Joystiq)
Wow, it's amazing that Los Angeles ruined X-Play and G4. It's too bad it can't stay in San Francisco where the show had so much culture and was doing so much to alleviate poverty and world hunger and contribute so strongly to the art scene. Now it's in LA and the entire cast is doing coke and hanging out with Paris Hilton and just falling into a wasteland. Oh San Francisco, please show us the way, we in Los Angeles are so inferior to your brilliance.

DS Fanboy poll: Where do you play?

Dec 22nd 2006 12:01PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Luckily, there are 4 people at my job who have DSes, so we play multiplayer Mariokart/Super Mario Bros/Starfox every day during our lunch hour...it's solid.

New Wii owners: your impressions?

Nov 20th 2006 11:30AM (Joystiq)
I got the Wii yesteday and I have been thrilled. I've only played Wii Sports, Zelda and Rayman. I love the interface, although I was bummed to find now News and Weather services yet. But I did feel cool that I had the Wii so early they hadn't launched this stuff yet.

Wii sports is insanely fun, although Baseball is a bit frustrating. Bowling is definitely the best of the bunch.

Zelda, is incredible, I'm sucked in and kind of angry that I have to go to work this week.

But overall, my biggest surprise has been how easy it has been to shift to Nunchuk/Wiimote control scheme. I thought it would take a while to adjust but it took no time at all to get it up and running...

Love this Wii...

Gamers in trouble: G4 moves to E!

Oct 13th 2006 11:23AM (Joystiq)
Everyone is bang on here. X-play is the best game show they have, and it sucks. I get it that they are staffed by wanna be comedy writers, but it's possible to put together a gaming show that isn't constantly trying to fill time with really bad jokes? Attack of the Show is awful.

They need a show with lower production values, and faster updates - like a Sportscenter but for tech.

Also cover some MLG tournments, or something. This is cheap programming.

Why not let videogame studios produce promotional documentaries about upcoming games? basically free (or you charge them to air) programming that gamers would watch. Didn't EA recently try to charge $19 for a Madden preview? Get the developers involved...

Engadget HD giveaways: win a Philips 42PF9631D 42-inch plasma!

NFL Football, without a doubt. Although apparently HD has the ability to turn desperate housewives from drama to horror (Teri Hatcher's face).

Toys "R" Us to open store in China

Sep 21st 2006 4:27PM (Joystiq)
Maybe my world geography is messed up, but I was in Hong Kong last year and there was a gigantic Toy R' Us there. And after 1997, in spite of being a Special Economic Zone, isn't it still technically China?

I'm guessing the one in China will be like the one in HK, that is to say overflowing with Hello Kitty, Videogames, and Gundam. In other words? Awesome.

Secret EA promotion code compromised

Feb 25th 2006 11:54AM (Joystiq)
No matter what, it's a good marketing strategy. You either get people to buy the game for the gun, or you get the internet buzzing with discussion about how the secret has been breached...in either case, it's gets people talking about the game: mission accomplished for PR...
