I was so close to picking up a droid. But did not realize that the Verizon 69.99 plan is not available for its smartphones. That makes Verizon just as expensive as ATT. I decided to go with Sprint's HTC Hero. For someone who never has had a smart phone before there is no reason to complain about faster processors, 2.0 etc.

I was set to get the droid but did not realize the 69.99 plan did not apply to any android phones. Should of known. Went straight for HTC Hero. No complaints - especially when you go from a dumb phone to a smart phone. Performance and features are worlds apart.

I guess you can be a little obsessive when you can't live without the latest and greatest. But you can definitely set your mind free when you give up that outlook on life. Now I can go back to living a normal life enjoy and the humble Hero while at it.

Have your employer pay that extra $15 if you can justify it.

If you go to the Verizon wireless website you can look under 'Plans'. Choose the tab titled 'Connect'. You will see the first plan for 450 minutes of voice with unlimted text and data starts at $69.99.

My concern with Verizon and specifically the Droid is if it can operate outside the U.S.
Also in concern to Sprint as well as Verizon is the ability to voice and data at the same time.
Apparently its only AT&T and T-Mobile that have network that can do that - but we already know what their problems are!

I truly believe there is no perfect package for any phone or carrier.

Those prior rumors had me thinking I was going to get away with a $50 - $60 plan including unlimted data.
I was ready to make the jump.
I even spent the last few nights contemplating which Android phone from T-Mobiles I was going to compromise with.
Looks like the contendors will be Verizon's Droid @ $70 monthly or Sprint's Moment @ $70 monthly.
Any opinions on this?

Do I go with the top of line Droid on Verizon? Or jump on Sprint and get a great phone plus navigation included?

I never bought into that advanced war crap.

This phone is looking good. It might be the reason to go back to Verizon. I'm looking for an Android phone with a decent screen size, slim design, physical keyboard, and 5 mp camera with flash. The graphic accelorator may mean some good gaming too when Android 2.0 comes out. The closest thing (IMO) to this would be Samsung's Moment, but it looks to plastic.

I wonder how the battery is going perform and how the videos will look.
