I wholeheartedly endorse any news with a Mystery Science Theater 3000 reference within.

Games blamed for decline in national park attendance

Jun 6th 2007 8:28PM (Joystiq)
I'm with Grant on this one. "i like free nature alot more than $20 nature. oddly enough it's the same thing, and usually free nature is a hell of a lot closer than pay nature" National parks are great, but you have to make a trip to visit them. And who has the time/cash for regular vacations? I don't think my gaming habit has interfered with my love for nature one bit. If anything it's life in general that's done that.

Action games are broken, let's fix them!

The key here is challenge, not pointless difficulty. If a game shoves cheap kills and pointless repetition of parts of the game because you died, that doesn't make it difficult, it makes it frustrating. If the challenges themselves are difficult, on the other hand, that's where the money is at. Intricate, progressive challenges.

God of War is a good example. Are the higher difficulty levels anything more than stronger enemies, causing you to die more often and repeat parts of the game?

And as far as action sequences in non-action games: bring 'em on. I'm no action fanatic, but I do like a good mild game of reflexes now and again. Just don't hinge the game around it.

Don't want to spoil the fun here without spoiler tags. There are a few walkthroughs on the internets. Just search for "makibishi walkthrough" and a few nice ones pop right up.
