So THAT explains it...

PSA: How to un-ugly your GBA games on 3DS

@Omega2822

It isn't as nice as it sounds. The 3DS in 2D mode gives the effect of scan lines due to the higher horizontal resolution but comparatively low vertical resolution. After being accustomed to the iPhone 4's display for the past 1.5 years, looking at a 3DS' display is a test of one's determination.

Wait... Volume THREE?

This is a monumental moment in Valve history. They actually released something with a three in it. Now hopefully they can learn to bring this thinking to Half Life.

Six reasons iPad 2 will be a huge success for Apple

Mar 7th 2011 2:56AM (TUAW.com)
"Even if the iPad 2's specs aren't a huge step forward over the original iPad"

Man, I am so sick of reading that. OK people, we get it, the iPad 2 still only has a 1024x768 display resolution. But come on, look at the rest of the specs! They made the jump to dual core for the CPU, so right off the bat we are looking at twice the CPU performance when compared to the first. Next up, a vastly improved GPU. iOS uses GPU hardware acceleration extensively, so this would speed up the system as a whole greatly. Then throw in the addition of cameras and a gyroscope along with the fact that it is lighter and significantly thinner, and I think we're looking at a pretty great upgrade. They improved it in almost every regard, why is everyone calling this a minor upgrade? What, aside from the display, could they really improve? This is a tablet, there is only so much you can really change.

2010 in review: Rise of iOS

Wait, are you implying that they just throw in more A4 chips? If so then, well, it doesn't work that way.

Honestly I'm only expecting a small spec bump in the iPad 2.
- 1.2GHz A4 (small overclock essentially)
- 512MB RAM (possible 1GB to future proof it, don't hold your breath)
- 32GB storage minimum (64 and 96 also available)
- VGA Front Cam (Same as iPhone 4/iPod Touch 4)
- 5MP Rear Camera (again, same as iPhone 4)

And yeah, no retina display. Anyone who thinks it will have one is crazy. Doubling the iPad's resolution of 1024x768 gives you an insane 2048x1536. That is higher than many modern PC GPUs can handle let alone a measly little mobile processor. Perhaps by the time the iPad 4 rolls around it will be feasible.
