Microsoft responds to claims of Xbox 360 hard drives storing old credit card info
Mar 30th 2012 2:01PM (Joystiq)We're being assaulted from all sides and people will need to learn to be take extra care when selling their laptops, cell phones, and consoles.
That being said hopefully MS gets to the bottom of this and corrects any mistakes, if there were even any made in the first place.

Mar 25th 2012 2:12PM (Joystiq)I think this game is different enough in theme from most MMOs (which are medieval fantasy) to find a niche. If anything this game will be switching to a free-2-play model in a few months, rather than shutting down completely.
I plan on getting it on release as I like how they tried to do something different at least, most of which is right up my alley.
Mass Effect 3 face import bug will be fixed in next patch
Mar 23rd 2012 2:04PM (Joystiq)There are bigger plot holes to be addressed, Ones that aren't variable like the one you described.
I'd rather they explain their ending based on the logic they establish in the universe rather than force "and everyone lived happily ever after" on us.
We don't even get an inkling of what happened to cast members who were still alive at the end. So yeah, at least give us a Fallout 3 style slideshow...

Mar 22nd 2012 8:19PM (Massively)They'll be OK. Like any modern MMO they get some up front cash through subs that will float them until they can transition into a free-2-play model.
It's different enough from the truck load of fantasy MMOs to find a niche.
Mass Effect 3 player feedback spawns 'content initiatives,' details in April
Mar 21st 2012 10:10PM (Joystiq)It's not about the fact that its not a "happy" ending.
It's about the fact that things literally don't make sense. If I were to say to you that I'm going to kick you in the nuts to save you from being kicked in the nuts how much sense does that make to you? That is exactly the scenario that is presented to you at the end of ME3.
Not to mention that people aren't were they are supposed to be during the final cut scene just so they can be put in a dangerous situation.
And that's not even considering that all three of the "final" choices lead to a slow death for the majority of galactic civilization even though the Reapers are no longer in play...
New Witcher 2 trailer details new and improved newness, Dark Edition
Mar 17th 2012 4:57PM (Joystiq)I didn't know this! I was thinking about renting the Xbox version and doing a non-rebel play-through. But now I can just do it with the updated PC version I already have. Sweet

Mar 13th 2012 10:20PM (Joystiq)I bought SOL Exodus out of support too. Thing is I've played the two space-flight-sims that came out on the Xbox this generation (Project Slypheed & Darkstar One). And while those games were mediocre at best they controlled way better than SOL Exodus.
What I'm saying is if a decent budget was ever put behind a space-flight-game it could absolutely be good and enjoyable with a controller (maybe even approaching wing commander and free space good).
Your guide to Mass Effect 3's Kinect voice commands
Feb 24th 2012 8:56PM (Joystiq)MS didn't force Bioware to do it.
No-headset voice recognition > headset voice recognition. More people can be comfortable with, and actually understand how to use, Kinect's mic than any headset (basically people who don't read Joystiq)
And while your mileage may vary I have been presently surprised at how my Kinect picks up my voice 99% of the time. It's mile ahead of the voice tech I was using with a PC a decade ago anyway.
If this is the future I'm all for it. Do you remember anybody in Star Trek trying to remember where they stashed their headset so they could interact with the computer? Hell no.

Feb 23rd 2012 2:23PM (Joystiq)I have to disagree. I like RTS but no genre has been abandoned as much this generation as space-combat. That's the part of this game I 'm really looking forward to...
