UK retailers already discounting PSP Go

Oct 5th 2009 5:26PM (Joystiq)
Yes my friend the concept you talk of is called purchasing power parity. So a basket of goods in country A is equivalent to that of country B. However in the case of the PSP Go as with much of the price differential with video games is due to good old fashioned price discrimination.

Essentially they can get away with charging a higher price due to the elasticity of demand for the good implying that they believe the demand for the go to be fairly inelastic. So in layman terms they think the consumption for this good will not really change with income changes.

That said video games in general have an elastic demand in europe. Income changes will affect the consumption of games. Hence, you see much better deals in new games (even when they have recently been released). Where as in the states you will pay the magic pricetag of $60.

Sorry if the economic analysis puts you off.

GameStop offers 'Palazzo Medici' with Assassin's Creed 2 pre-order

Jun 24th 2009 8:23AM (Joystiq)
I assume it will be something akin to the 'Exclusive' Dead Space preorder costumes, and they will come as paid for DLC. So whilst the americans get it for free (assuming they pre-order) we get naught.

I feel like I have just been shat on. For over two hours by Microsoft. Here I was looking forward to the Sony keynote. I don't like the idea of me being the controller and what not, but I see this as a major pick off nintendo. But the technology itself? I knew this was coming but fuck me, it was jawdropping. As a ps fanboy.. i dont know i want to cry.

Same here. I have an exam tomorrow. I can't concetrate or revise. I'm too giddy with excitement for E3. I don't care for the Microsoft keynote, but I can't look away. Shit. This is not good
