EQ wins on the immersion factor alone, for me.

The Daily Grind: Has a free trial ever blown you away?

Feb 27th 2012 1:12AM (Massively)
I've played 'em all. But the one that really stands out for me is Everquest 2. I've never encountered a free trial for a MMO that did a better job of conveying exactly what I can expect to experience with the full version. I must have played 6 or 7 characters as far as it would let me with the trial I enjoyed it so much. Unfortunately that magic didn't translate into long-term entertainment value with the full version. But in response to the question, it's EQ2 for sure.

XBL GM responds to Live security concerns

Feb 7th 2012 6:25PM (Joystiq)
My account was hacked back in July of last year. I still don't have it back. Whoever took it, purchased about $80 in points with my (then saved) credit card info before transferring to Colombia. I immediately contacted MS about the incident and began receiving correspondence from MS in Spanish (I don't speak Spanish). To date I have received two free 30-day trial codes for my trouble (they claim to have given me four... whatever). I call once a month to check on their progress and the answer is always the same. There is nothing they can do. The last representative implied that there are legal implications that slow down the process when an account is transferred out of the country. I don't really care. It only took the thieves a matter of minutes to transfer it out of the country. Does it really take 6+ months to bring it back? I was one of the original Xbox Live beta testers and have had my gamertag since the very beginning. I live near the MS headquarters in Redmond and even my friends who work at MS are blown away when I tell them what happened.

The Daily Grind: Do you prefer digital copies or boxed copies of games?

Jun 24th 2011 9:16AM (Massively)
With a speedy 20Mbps connection and a disdain for clutter, digital download is my preferred method. To be more specific, Steam is my platform of choice.
