$150,000 Italian Village Theater brings Italy to you

Jun 17th 2008 3:47PM (Engadget HD)
Apparently Vegas-style themes is now considered good taste.

They really should have added a gondola ride. And maybe some animatronic salami to go along with the cheese.

Do they have an Egyptian room, a Parisian room, a medieval room, and a pirate room to go along with it?

Robbie Bach: broken Xbox 360s did not affect brand preference

Jun 13th 2008 1:56PM (Joystiq)
So what he is saying is that the 360 is like an Alfa Romeo (or any Italian car) and the owners are like Alfa Romeo owners.

In other words, when working, the 360 is great and some owners are seduced by that and are willing to put up with terrible reliability.

I get that, since Alfa's are tempting. But most people, myself included, would never buy one because of reliability issues. I suspect the same applies to the 360.

Digital Legends' iPhone action-adventure due in September

how is $200 priced out of the market? How much is a DS or PSP?

And do the DS and PSP include a phone and gps with their pricing?

Now of course, I don't think DS or PSP have anything to worry about. Especially considering the lack of a directional pad or buttons on the iPhone. But talking about high pricing is just crazy.

I have no plans on retiring my DS. But I'm looking forward to playing some games on my iPhone.

I have a very nice still-shrinkwrapped GC version, that I bought new and never played...

Capcom: Multiple platforms 'segment' multiplayer market

May 29th 2008 3:17AM (Joystiq)
The blame here lies with the game publishers.

If Capcom is so interested in everyone gaming online together, they should just run their own servers. All 3 consoles, afaik, use standard internet protocols. Along with both Mac and PC. I suppose Microsoft might be partly to blame, if they force everyone to use xbox live. Sony might be guilty of this too, though my understanding is that they are less strict about only Sony hosting.

Microsoft is definitely to blame for pushing activex networking on the PC, and not developing it for other platforms, which completely locks out Mac versions of the same game online.

But again, it is ultimately the laziness of the developer causing a balkanized online experience.

If Capcom wants to see how it is done right, just looks at Blizzard. Mac, PC, doesn't matter, it all works online together. Which is how it should be.

hmm, so what's the carbon footprint?

His house should be reclassified as an electric substation.

South Korean president gifted with mother of pearl Xbox 360

Fair enough, it might be time to move on from RROD. Just like it was time to move on from igniting power supplies.

So, for the sake of civility and accuracy, feel free to talk about disc read errors on the 360.

Back to the post, maybe he'll give that 360 to his buddies at Samsung and they'll make a 360 that doesn't break.

Wii could surpass US Xbox 360 install base this month

May 16th 2008 4:19PM (Joystiq)
Microsoft can take solace in knowing that it can always fall back on saying the Xbox 360 still has the "largest global install base of any current gen, high definition gaming console" that comes in white with green accents and a name that starts with the letter x. So there. :P

Further proof that Microsoft is run by people with an emotionally stunted, adolescent mindset.

Further proof? Steve Ballmer.

GameStop GTA IV data: 360 easily outsells PS3, not per console though

May 12th 2008 8:28PM (Joystiq)
I could comment on the 360 disc read errors, igniting power supplies, noisy fan, and the old favorite, RROD... but hey, only 30% or so of 360s broke. So 70% are pretty reliable.

On the plus side, the 360 version of GTA seems more reliable.
