The games we want on iPad

Jan 27th 2010 3:19PM (Joystiq)
You have to remember, it has a smartphone processor. It's not going to be significantly faster than an iphone. Apple makes its processor sound great, but it's standard fare for smart phones, and it looks to be a bit slower than Samsung's 1ghz smartphone processor announced last september.

Sony spins out of control, says DSi ignores 'significant gamer demographic groups'

It's not about saying, "look, we're doing better than we were years ago," it's about absolute comparisons. He's suggesting the PSP has a better game library than the DS.

And from any perspective, that's just a lie. It's Sony -- what do you expect?

Sony spins out of control, says DSi ignores 'significant gamer demographic groups'

Apr 6th 2009 4:07PM (Joystiq)
Do you really expect him to be honest and say, "Ah, the DS has a better lineup than the PSP in every single way, has much stronger third party support, sells a lot more software and even has a much better tie-in ratio than the PSP."

Of course not. Sony can't compete with Nintendo.

Kojima picks 15 films that influenced Metal Gear Solid

"But ... wait a minute. Where's Escape from New York?"

He only selected movies available on Blu Ray. I thought he had some remarkably poor selections until I realized that.

Shane Kim: First console to 100 million wins

May 21st 2008 5:13PM (Joystiq)
It's worth pointing out that the PS2 was never produced at 2.4 million units per month but Nintendo will produce the Wii with those numbers soon.

The Wii's current output of 2.1 million units per month is about what the PS2 did at the height of its popularity (it didn't sell as fast as the Wii)

April NPD: GTA IV, Mario Kart Wii race to the top

May 16th 2008 10:27AM (Joystiq)
Matt B: Feel free to discredit VGChartz because you don't know the difference between "The Americas" and "The United States of America."

You know, it's perfectly reasonable to have 11.79 million units sold in the Americas and only 10 million sold in the United States of America.

If you aren't sure which countries are in a continent, feel free not to make any comments about it. Cool?

Editorial: 2-year-old dies after beating

Apr 9th 2008 11:44AM (Joystiq)
You're a bunch of fuckups if you're seriously worried about the affect this will have on video games.

There will always be people with an agenda that will put whatever spin they want a story to have on a story. That's how the world works. The worst possible thing that game supporters could do is worry about this becoming about video games, because it would show how shallow they are and how nothing outside of their pathetic little world of gaming matters.

This isn't going to affect your precious video games. So you can go back to ignoring stuff like this.

Analyst: PS3 will catch up to Wii by 2011

Dec 10th 2007 10:18PM (Joystiq)
If you look at his graph, you'll see that not only does the PS3 begin selling about twice as fast as it is selling now, inexplicably at the beginning of 2008, but the Wii has reached its fastest sales rate (despite Nintendo doubling production) and will only sell slower.

These two things are equally unlikely. I don't see how in the world he "calculated" that the Wii will begin selling slower now that:

(1) Supply is twice as high now as it was last year AND
(2) Demand is higher this year than last.

Yep, the PS3 will immediately begin outselling the Wii just as soon as 2008 rolls around. It will continue this domination forever.

Sony: PS3 sales increased dramatically, won't reflect in NPD

Nov 16th 2007 4:51PM (Joystiq)
it sold 100,000 PS3s in a single week. They made no such claim.

Go back to the original Associated Press story. The quote follows:

--------
"In the two weeks ending Nov. 11, Sony said it sold more than 100,000 consoles of all types."

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/home_entertainment/games/e3i025192b39d66ffb52b8fafd26cefdc8e
--------

Sony has recently clarified that statement to say that they included Playstation 2 sales in with that number.

---------
"The price cut and new model helped Sony increase sales of all consoles including the older PlayStation 2 to 100,000 units in the week ended Nov. 11, spokeswoman Kimberly Otzman said in an e-mail."
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aUlmjLlsp37s
---------

The wording is understandably vague, but if you read the source you'll see it as Sony's response to Patcher, who says there's no way in hell they sold 100k PS3s. Sony acknowledges that.

Good job with the journalism yet again, Joystiq. Feel free to actually read the original source once in a while and maybe you'll actually report the story accurately.

Sony: October strong month for "PlayStation brand"
