Griffin, I guess I'll clarify my position, once again...

We find EA's business plan for Bad Company to be bad for gamers. We do not like the fact that they're selling you an incomplete game for full price and then charging you again to make it whole. Is five guns for an online multiplayer game whole? To me, it's unheard of. It's grossly underwhelming and ends up higlighting what they're doing even more. EA can say all day and all night that the guns are balanced, but any new weapons being introduced to only those that purchase them will destabilize the multiplayer component of the game, regardless of statistics.

This is a slippery slope and we're making our stand here as gamers and saying to EA to stop. Whether they hear us is really irrelevant. It's the mobilization of the gamers toward a common cause. That's what gets EA's attention. That's what gets their advertisers attention. If we can mobilize a large group of people that have buying power, that group becomes powerful.

I'm surprised you don't recognize that aspect of the boycott mobilization.

Griffin, why would you say that EA's plan for Bad Company is reprehensible, but withdraw support for an active boycott of the game?

It's either apathetic or lazy, and someone in your position shouldn't be either. We appreciate Joystiq's aid in broadening the audience for what we want to do, but your confusing and honestly, condescending stance on it sends mixed signals to EA and other gamers that come to your site.

On the one hand you say that you don't like it, but on the other hand you throw up your hands and say "aw shucks, they can get away with it, so I just won't buy it, but I don't support telling others not to buy it..." For a writer that comments on video games daily, I find that stance to be quite... odd.

With or without Joystiq's support, we've already made our opinions known. We've mobilized people to act in a way that shows that we're on the right track.

Hey troll, um I mean Lone Starr... The "argument" is that EA, by design, is attempting to sell you an incomplete game, for full price and then charge you to make it whole.

Let me explain in terms you may understand a bit better:
Say you want to buy a cookie from EA. You give your money to EA and they show you a cookie, but before giving it to you, they break a piece off. Then after paying full price for a cookie with a piece missing, EA asks you if you want to buy the rest of the cookie, the one you already paid full price for, for just a bit more...

That is what they're doing. Does that make sense?

Justin,we are asking people to boycott the game i.e. not buy the game at all, based on the our objection to EA's principle of selling half of a game for full price and then trying to sell you the rest of the game for an additional cost.

We know it's been done before. We know all about horse armor and weapons in Chromehounds. We believe that this is the first time that this has been done in such a high profile way. We believe that it's just the first step in a new way of attempting to sell games that are incomplete, for full price and then selling "DLC" to make the game whole.

What's next? Charging for footballs in Madden? How bout selling you Madden, but with out last year's Pro Bowl players and then charging them as "DLC?"

I'm saying this isn't right and we at Sarcastic Gamer are tired of it. This is our stand, believe in it or not. I'm tired of reading video game commercials. I want to do something about it.
