Good Guy Sniper: Kills Hitler in Sniper Elite V2 pre-order bonus, doesn't die

@Dooliss Why would it be in bad taste?

Limbo with the lights on

Awesome idea and great execution. I especially loved the ending.

Stalk this Saints Row: The Third 'Bloodsucker' DLC trailer

@(Unverified) Well that's decidedly "meh". Shame.

Stalk this Saints Row: The Third 'Bloodsucker' DLC trailer

I have question for those who play/ed the game. How would a DLC like that work? I mean, is it like a mission you take and your guy becomes a vampire and then goes through a bunch of missions and then like cures himself? Is there maybe a choice, can you stay a vampire and keep doing the main campaign? Or is this completely separate from main campaign and you kinda access it from the main menu (a la DX:HR Missing Link for those familiar) and play with a completely different character?

@Camel Carcass That just killed me! :D

Borderlands 2 out September 18 in North America, September 21 elsewhere

Feb 22nd 2012 8:43AM (Joystiq)
There's so much excitement and hype for this game, and I wanna get hyped up I just can't. For some reason I could never get into Borderlands - I'm not entirely sure what it was but something was just missing.

DirectX 11 support added to L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition on PC

Feb 21st 2012 8:42AM (Joystiq)
I'm sure there are still folks on PC that haven't played it but plan to, and they'll surely appreciate this. Having said that, this is way too late for it to have much relevance.

I don't understand how publishers and developers keep treating PC like the ugly stepchild and then complain about lack of sales - I mean, Duh!

'Reign of Thunder' is F2P mech shooter from MechAssault dev

Feb 20th 2012 8:45PM (Joystiq)
@Tez This. I don't want another shooter just with "mech skins" on the avatars, I want a mech game. I'm talking heavy, complicated, giant machines of destruction, with weapon loadouts, overheating, ammo limitations, torso rotation speed, and most importantly momentum, acceleration and physics in general that are appropriate to 10 ton machines.

GTA 4 mod iCEnhancer 2.0 out now, like a car wash for your graphics

Feb 12th 2012 10:59PM (Joystiq)
icenhancer is amazing, but extremely demanding specs wise. You really need a beast of a system to run it smoothly in 1920x1200. There's also an amazing mod (don't remember the name) that ads destructible environments. Then there are of course physics mods for cars, better pedestrians, whether, etc.

I mean basically, if you have something like an overclocked i7 with 3-way setup of something like gtx580 or radeon 7970, and the time and patience to get a bunch of mods installed and working - GTA 4 will blow your mind.

Unreal Engine 4 to be seen 'later this year,' says Mark Rein

Feb 11th 2012 8:15PM (Joystiq)
I wish companies would invest in AI and physics as much as they invest in graphics. Take Half Life and Crysis 2 for example - graphically the improvements are at least few generations, but in terms of AI, I'd be hard pressed to find any improvements, certainly none that indicate the industry had over a decade to work things our.

To be honest, personally I rarely care about graphics any more, only when they're particularly bad (like performance issues despite not being all that advanced, or bugs like pop-in textures, etc.) or when they're particularly good but even then (when they're good) it's actually more a matter of great art direction than actual technical achievement. In other words I find that even games that don't push 2 million polygons per scene and dozens of shaders and what not, can still look beautiful and even stunning (DX:HR comes to mind), while all the mega-textures and polygons in the world can't help you if your art department can't come up with a beautiful world (Rage comes to mind).
