It's fun to see so many people argue about religion without honestly understanding the relevant material in any fashion at all.
Sure. Random chance is awesome and all, but let's look objectively and rationally at it:
The universe "just happened" to come into existance, and it "just happens" to have rational observable laws that are testable and understandable. It "just happens" that there is an imbalance between matter and anti-matter (which is currently unexplainable) that "just happens" to allow bits of matter to clump together. Some of those clumps "just happen" to stick together to create planets, water, stars etc. Some of those clumps of matter "just happen" to be living, and some of that life "just happens" to be intelligent, and some of that intelligent life "just happens" to be us.
To me random chance is a joke. The pot doesn't even hold itself.
I'm a firm believer that science can explain every "how" question in the universe. I'm also a firm believer that religion (not necessarily dogmatic religion though) answers the "why" questions.
Atheists spend their entire lives trying to disprove religion, which makes them just as preachy and pig-headed as annoying-ass Mormons. I believe in God, you don't. So be it.
I'm a Christian Taoist, and I'm willing to let go of the fact that some people simply don't have faith. If Grace is true, everyone is saved, not just people with faith. All you have to do is live a good life.
Any evidence for God is by nature personal and subjective, it's up to the individual to either find his way to God, or simply go his own route.
But the laws require you to take information down from a state or federally issued ID - so they can track you down if you steal. When people come into my store with stolen stuff and I ask them for ID they simply leave, and go to a big store like EB games where the volume of customers is great enough (and the pay/treatment of employees poor enough) that they don't bother checking. Shutting down small business simply will not affect the rate of stolen software.
I'm not sure I said they were. Just mentioning the fact that huge corporations will be running the entire show, but I guess that's not always a bad thing, right?
This law is going to shut down virtually every locally owned and independant video game retailer in the country. Big business wins again! Go Corporate Amerika! Guess I'll look for a new job.
We hate you. You buy 4 games a year. Mom will buy a game for her 6 kids every birthday, christmas, allowance, etc. but she's not into good games, she's into crap. We know where the money is at.
