@Shockwave You're sort of correct, but also sort of wrong. Those two days are a standard "first week" for consoles and video games in Japan, and it's the same two days the 3DS sold 370K in for its Japanese launch in February. For a console to have a healthy market it should be outselling everything else in those two days.
If you've been following Japanese sales in the past you'll know that the second week, even though it represents many more days, also generally represents a large drop in sales. In Vita's first full week (the numbers that we'll see next week) it will absolutely be lower than the 3DS, judging by these numbers.
Don't get me wrong, Vita's not selling horribly, but it's not selling very well either, especially for a holiday launch with plenty of stock on the shelves (Sony gave official numbers of 500K launch units shipped to retailers). It's an OK start for a system that lacks any major sellers for the Japanese market.
I'm sorry, call me a pessimist, but I just can't see how this can possibly be good. For one thing, 90% of FF main characters do nothing but the same damn diagonal slash move with a sword that looks slightly different (I swear the recycled that animation from FFVII through FFX). So, unless they basically just invent fighting styles for the main characters, using any of them will blow. Then again, Tidus's attacks could just be whining and bitching, and Vaan could go cry in a corner while his significantly more awesome allies do the fighting for him. Seriously though the only characters that ever have any real difference is the allies, and even they don't. Every game has: white magic user, summoner (often combined with main character or one of the others), sword fighter, alternate sword fighter, black magic user, crappy thief character no one uses. Yes there is a little bit of change in this (and a lot in FFXII with no set classes), but be honest people: As great as Final Fantasy is, do any of the elements of the universe seem like good things for a BRAWLER?
