In search of the perfect remote access app: TeamViewer
Apr 3rd 2011 5:21AM (TUAW.com)That app kicks so much ass.
It's a dream to use, runs perfectly on 3G or external WiFi even on my slightly funky network.
I've never had any problems with it and can switch from RDP to VNC at the drop of a hat.
Best $5 I spent.
And splash top is fine, unless you lock your computer or have multiple users, then it becomes an effort in frustration. It's better for watching video, but when I, get this, have to log in through VNC via Jump just so I can use Splashtop? Ha.
Jump works. Goes on sale. Doesn't have a stupid enterprise edition. YES requires a google account but... Works. If you just need access between computers, jump seems to be a better solution IMO.

Machinarium headed to PS3 and undecided tablets this year
Mar 28th 2011 2:33PM (Joystiq)Machinarium headed to PS3 and undecided tablets this year
Mar 28th 2011 2:32PM (Joystiq)They SHOULD be marketing for a tablet that... NO ONE has! It's SMART marketing!! I'm proud of them, commiting career suicide in the spirit of martyrdom!! ;)
NOW - TO BE serious...
I agree that stuff like this should come out on all devices, and I hope that Android gets one as well, but come now - iOS has a huge, huge, huge market of people who go crazy for games like this. I'm one, even though I suck at it.
Look at World of Goo, Sword and Sworcery, Puzzle Agent or whatever, these games rock it both sales wise and with critical accliam.
Plug it all in with the 5-in-1 Connection Kit for iPad
Mar 25th 2011 3:10PM (TUAW.com)That should solve the low power issues.
Biggest disappointment is not having HDMI out.
Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP comes to iPad on Thursday
Mar 22nd 2011 1:22PM (Joystiq)You are a gorgeous, gorgeous awesomeness of awesome.
And for everyone else - You do not need to wait until Thursday. I shall not. Expect it at 11pm EST, where it will pop its head out and introduce you to the amazingness of S&S. From what I understand it is filled with tiger blood...
Apologies for the cliche Sheenisms, they just seemed to fit.
WINNING.
iOS 4.3.1 coming soon, will patch jailbreak vulnerability

(please note, this is for the idiot posting the site to jailbreak, and this post may come out of context.)
Interview: Ngmoco's We Rule after a year on the App Store
Mar 20th 2011 5:42AM (TUAW.com)They deserve to be tossed into a volcano for the smarmy way they're trying to screw people over in-game, and is why I refuse to pay them a single penny until they put countermeasures in place so we don't accidentally "spend" mojo/whatever.
So when the twit Carol says she's more focused on people intentionally spending than unintentionally - well she can suck it. It's true that it's not the case, as so many people have made vocal arguments about putting confirmation not to just BUY the IAPS, but to prevent unwitting spending of these purchases.
Too often do you hit the button to speed up a crop/job/building and lose REAL money because they don't have anything in place to prevent against that happening.
That's where my MAJOR issue is, and is why I, along with many, many, many other players won't spend even a single penny on the game until they do.
So no, I'm not ngomocos cheerleader, but that doesn't mean I hate their games, either.

Mar 20th 2011 5:35AM (TUAW.com)Interview: Ngmoco's We Rule after a year on the App Store
Mar 20th 2011 5:34AM (TUAW.com)I enjoy this kind of mindless game, I enjoy dressing up my kingdom and I enjoy being able to level up, have a kingdom that other people like to go to and order from.
I posted about this before, but I will reiterate simply. I have a busy life, this is a nice, quiet mindless way to play something I enjoy.
Some people go ape over Angry Birds or NOVA, and others go ape over this.
You may not like the model, but it's there. ngmoco didn't create it, nor did Zynga - but you begging people to stop it isn't going to work.
You mention Beanie Babies and Pokemon... you DO realize that they are a household name for a reason?
I have made purchases via IAP for the game, but they're small and only there to help the devs. Why should I help the devs, you ask? Because I spend a LOT of time playing their games on their server with no ads bogging me down. Also, I like sometimes buying something fun. I've not spent much, and if I didn't want to, I'd never have to buy anything again.
Do I agree with all of the things that have for IAP? No. HELL no.
So you know what I do? I DON'T buy it. Because I'm not a complete idiot.
As long as people have stress in their life, there will be farm-type games such as these. Because sometimes it's a relief to just sit back and harvest some rubies or order stuff from friends. Or tap barrels. Or whatever!
If I feel like spending $5 or $10 a month, or more, on that - who is to judge? I've gotten more enjoyment out of these games, and more play time out of these games, than almost anything else on the app store.
And for me, who wouldn't touch a farm-type model prior to this, that's saying something.
So hate all you like, but recognize when there's a niche that needs filling.
