The 5 most difficult NES games

Jun 17th 2006 3:31AM (Joystiq)
took me about 2 weeks but I beat ghosts and goblins after level one it doesn't get that much more difficult til four and after that it stays about the same difficulty (never beat the second run though)

silver surfer was about impossible just insane. I want to see a savestate assisted runthrough that doesn't loose at least 1 life.

battletoads was difficult but I've come very close to beating it (the clinger winger is the worst bit of it.. the l3 and 7 jetbike stages were the most fun difficult but entirely possible.

blaster master I've beaten once.. using the game genie for infinite continues but only ended up using 1 continue DOH!! the guy at the end can get stuck in the corner just make sure your GUN power is full. if you can beat the l5 crab boss on your first continue you can beat the game..

I'm one of the ones that couldn't get past king hippo in MK punch out.. but I got tired of it after 2 days.

solstice was easy for a friend of mine he could go through the whole game in about 2 hours.

so my top 5
1. silver surfer.
2. robowarrior
3. mission impossible.
4. bayou billy
5. snake rattle and roll

anyone ever beat kickle cubicle? I've gotten to one stage that seemed there was no way to get through like 3 from the end. with multiple hammers and springs..

How-to: re-wire an arcade joystick for the Xbox 360

Mar 4th 2006 9:26PM (Joystiq)
only thing is you really need a true joystick of this sort floor standing (I've built a mame cab and know from experience that having a controller like this in your lap is quite uncomfortable) and 2 player with the second joystick starting at least 8" away from the last button of the first players setup

also the layout looks kinda bad on this why are the wires flailed out everywhere and you can screw the xbox 360 pcb to the cab at least. (or just use hot glue to tidy up the wires) (plus I don't like those leaf spring to switch joysticks would much rather use a short throw stick with a overstrength spring and plastic block for the best percision. )

Japan chooses its all-time top 100 list of games; Western games feel left out

Mar 4th 2006 9:04PM (Joystiq)
ouch I think this list is heavily sales based as shin megami tensei is way down at 58

and I guess vagrant story never was released in japan?? I can't believe it didn't make the list.

but as far as the NON-FF and DQ rpg's here I'll agree with it.

Patent application reveals Nintendo's plan for multi-touch capable DS

Feb 26th 2006 10:36PM (Joystiq)
I think the DS touch screen may do this and the software just averages the inputs for example try the metroid prime hunters demo on the screen with all the hexagonal cells put one finger on one corner and another finger on the other then increase the pressure with one finger the 'cursor' will move toward that finger so you know the screen can differentiate 2 points and is also pressure sensitive.
