iPad 'If You Asked' TV ad aims for the heartstrings, fails to miss
May 4th 2011 1:25AM (TUAW.com)Again, the human element is what Google and even RIM are missing and forever remain in the shadow of Apple's products.
iPad 'If You Asked' TV ad aims for the heartstrings, fails to miss
May 4th 2011 1:21AM (TUAW.com)I would say get a life or go elsewhere to spew your insane rhetoric but I'm guessing you've heard it all by now and just choose to be a trolling prick.
Enjoy.
Designer pitches concept for usable iOS notifications in video
May 3rd 2011 7:40PM (TUAW.com)An app like this suggests that all notifications would HAVE TO work through this Apple app and ONLY this Apple app.
Then again, Apple has such a choke hold on the industry that they could dictate a universal notification system that requires all instances travel through their iAlerts (that's my pet name for it) application.
South Park makes fun of all things Apple in season opener
May 1st 2011 8:21PM (TUAW.com)In Apple's case this is only good publicity. The fact that there's an Apple culture to make fun of suggests that Apple's doing well enough and has a devoted enough fan base to get digs from the funny men of South Park.

Newspaper thinktank predicted the iPad in 1994
Apr 28th 2011 6:31PM (TUAW.com)Of course she was probably just mixing up the words and out came "iPad" and they probably just figured to keep it in there.

Apr 27th 2011 6:42PM (TUAW.com)Nielsen says Android is "most desired" smartphone platform
Apr 26th 2011 2:14PM (TUAW.com)Even if the 3% goes Android's way I doubt Apple is quaking in their boots. 30% maybe, but not 3% and certainly not 1.5%. Also, how do you measure desire? I might desire a Ferrari but I can only afford a 2004 Intrepid. I might desire a Porterhouse steak but the Wendy's $0.99 cent menu will have to suffice. And I might desire Mila Kunis but I doubt she feels the same way.
However, once again the numbers don't tell the entire story. Legitimately there are only two iPhones on the market. The iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3G S. Anything before those phones may as well not even exist since you the only place you can probably find them is on eBay. So comparing two phones to the 8 billion Android-based phones in the market.
As I always say, if there were only 3 Android-based phones going up against the iPhone the battle would like astonishingly different.

Apr 24th 2011 7:46PM (TUAW.com)The moment you start bashing people for so-called literacy issues you'd better bring your thesaurus and consider typing your comments in MS Word for grammar correction 'cause that was a bit of a mess.
As for the topic at hand, I'm not sure why any government military branch would consider a "smartphone" for use in the battlefield. Don't they have radios with secure frequencies that provide insane coverage in what I would imagine would be deprived of nearby cell towers?! Why rely on (for example) Verizon's can-you-hear-me-now service for coverage in the desert to reach their fellow squad member?
I could see them using a tablet or something but even then why use a consumer OS to do it? Why not use a customized OS that no one else can manipulate but the military?! Even copiers today have custom written operating systems that aren't easily compromised or readily accessible.
Honestly, this news doesn't make me feel any safer. I hate the idea of a highly skilled and expertly trained solider, that can take apart a rifle in 10 seconds and is trained to kill anything that moves, has access to a device that connects with military servers housing tons of classified files and information. And yet that same device can play Angry Birds and monitor Facebook status'.
God forbid a terrorist finds out how to hack Android devices from a satellite and sends a rogue (you spelled it "rouge" which is a type of cosmetic) signal to our solider's "smartphone" sending them into a deadly trap.
