Finally, Decide-o-tron features Joystiq editors' top picks

Nov 10th 2011 9:50AM (Joystiq)
@Oddgirl I've listened. I've also played games with most of the editors either co-operatively or in a competitive context and I stand by my assessment. If my words have hurt your feelings, I am sorry for that.

Finally, Decide-o-tron features Joystiq editors' top picks

No offense, but none of your editors are really "gamers". You are just people who write short blurbs about games with varying degrees of success. I find a lot of the “gaming media” just parrots each other anyway, so I'm sure what's listed as "favorite" for a given person is just what's going to be top 85% on metacritic anyway.

X-Men Destiny review: Destined for failure

Sep 28th 2011 12:42PM (Joystiq)
Silicon Knights hit it out of the park with Eternal Darkness, one of the best games I've ever played and a personal top 5 pick of all time ... and then proceeded to fall the hell off the map.

I mean I guess cleaning up a re-release of Metal Gear for GC is something to hang your hat on, but Too Human was crap. And it's a shame because I had really high hopes for it, and the game's heart was in the right place, but it felt like I was playing a build that was 2 years from completion when I had it.

It's a shame that this X-Men game seems to suffer from the same "good intention / bad execution" syndrome. I really wanted to like it, but this review took a lot of the wind out of my sails. I'll still give it a look via rental or something though, so I can form my own opinion. I just no longer have my hopes up.

I'm angry that you are playing this so early. ANGRY! But you should take pride in what you've achieved.

@briscott It's because the people who live in that area can't spell. They are like grammar "lepers".

Todd Howard on Skyrim's worthwhile glitches, MMOs and when big is big enough

@Danjcb I agree, although at the same time I can kind of understand wanting to show off your character in an online environment. I mean in Oblivion my friends and I would debate who's character would hypothetically beat who's and whatnot, and it's kind of cool to show off the intricate changes you have made to your guy, especially in a game this deep. Maybe a small PVP arena or something would be cool? I don't know.

Ben traded the properties for a ham sandwich to John, and Joe was the one who got upset. You got it all backwards.

L.A. Noire review: Go with your gut

May 16th 2011 1:52PM (Joystiq)
I don't understand this derision in terms of it not being "traditionally fun" at all. That's such an odd thing to say. What does that even mean? How and with what context could you apply that lens to anything else? Also how could you reward a game with 4-1/2 stars if you didn't even have "traditional fun" with it? Just because of it's outstanding presentation?

That line threw me, and you brought it back at the end as well, so it's something you obviosuly thought long and hard about. I'm just not sure what you mean or what constitutes "traditional fun". Pin the tail on the donkey?
