DS Daily: New DS or 'new' DS?

Aug 28th 2008 9:32AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I've just learned to appreciate my DS having picked up an R4 but if they're going to redesign it the only changes that would be worth while to me would be making it less expensive or fixing the PSP's major goof and jam some analog sticks on it.

Those are the only things that concern me.

Nintendo would be better off attracting some more adult games to the system. One can really have too many virtual pets and crosswords. It's obvious from Dementium, Call of Duty 4 and Brothers in Arms that the DS can do it and do it pretty well. So why don't they? FPS's on the DS are pretty awesome with the stylus. FPS's on the PSP are complete garbage. The PSP seems to be in its last days so now Nintendo can grab up all of those who feel let down by the PSP's more mature games strangled by a terrible control scheme.

Will they or will I get to look forward to more virtual pets and sudoku?

Analyst Pachter says 'blame Japan' for Sony's PSP mis-management

Aug 28th 2008 8:51AM (Joystiq Playstation)
PSP has been in it's death throes for a while now. The 2000 should have been a chance for everyone on the fence about the PSP to adopt but there aren't any must have games for the thing outside of the world of Sony fanboys. What little surge there was has long since faded. The release of the 3000 is just embarrassing.

Maybe if the few decent titles the PSP had were actually playable (dual analog, hello?) I wouldn't had hated the thing as much as I did and currently do. SOCOM, Syphon Filter, MoH, all should have been amazing. Instead, they were frustrating and playing them made one feel handicapped and half-retarded.

The PSP was doomed the moment some board decided the UMD was great and one analog stick was enough. It's like those who approved it were secretly working for Microsoft and trying to make Sony look like a bunch of clowns.

Look at all the great colors their clown machine comes in!

I hate you PSP.

Obama's policies?

Let's see..... none of his supporters should be playing Halo since "guns are bad m'kay" but I suppose you might find one or two in there who have a team of lawyers or happen to be wealthy upper class folks with pull like Stallone who have been able to prove to lord government they are capable of not going off on a rampage but if you do I wouldn't shoot any of them. You'll be made to pay for their healthcare.

Obama supporters bother me so much. They are quite possibly the most duped group of empty headed idiots since the republicans that kept insisting Bush was conservative last election (there isn't a conservative nbone in that mans body). Ask any of them what he's done that makes him worth their support and you get dumb and lost facial expressions, bumper sticker slogan recitals and "change." Maybe if I met one who actually expressed the ability to reason I'd feel differently but until then I'll happily join you on your quest to target any player with an Obama pic.

I have a good friend voting for him. When I asked why he rattled off all these position statements Obama had supposedly made. After looking it up for myself not one of the positions my buddy believed were Obamas were true, in fact, it was usually the opposite. When confronted with the evidence and asked to clarify he told me he was still voting for Obama. What is that? Some kind of brainwashing?

Sorry, that's quite a rant.

"OH NO!! NOT AN INTELLIGENT BLACK MAN BEING PRESIDENT, HIDE THE WOMEN AND CHILDREN"

LOL

Gee, who was it that was so surprised by the "clean", "articulate" and "intelligent" black man?

Oh yeah, his VP pick :D bwaahhhh Mr. Mucaca himself from the state with all those Indian 7-11 employees. Biden is right up there with Sen. Grand Wizard Byrd when it comes to tolerance and racial sensitivity.

B.O. stinks regardless.

Where's my Paul at?

No, you don't have to. I'm at the third area now and not once have I equipped anything. I'm pretty sure my armor is all broken. And guess what? I still can't lose!

All of those things, runes, weapons, armor, skills, are completely meaningless without some sort of consequence to give them value.

You know, I played the demo and thought the demo was great. After playing it was when I preordered. I figured the demo was just this small part of the game and that it took place after all the story and action that was seemingly represented in the trailer where the main character was in a bar in a town and the bar was attacked by that thing.

Then I take it home and find out there is no bar, there is no town, there is no world or adventure of any kind. Just a hub where some uppity guy sends me out to hack-n-slash pointlessly for a couple of painfully boring hours then I go back to the hub.

I didn't die in the demo so I didn't know that death was impossible. I expected a whole world of travel and variety from the trailer I saw. I expected the item collection would actually have a purpose.

The only thing that actually is the way I expected it to be is the combat.

Maybe if death was an option and acquiring certain things was necessary to pass certain obstacles I could tolerate mindlessly swirling the analog stick for hours.

I couldn't hate this game more. I hate all pointless "dungeon crawlers" from Gauntlet to Diablo to Too Human. Wow, I get to horde virtual junk, neat! The fact that you can't ever fail means that all the item collecting and "upgrading" mean even less. From start to finish you never have to equip anything. You could finish it buck naked swinging a stick.

I especially hate myself for not doing enough research and being under the impression this game was something it isn't and going out and buying the thing.

I'll never get that time or money back and it's all my own stupid dumbass fault.

I based my decision on early trailers and combat descriptions. If I ever saw the words "dungeon crawler" I never would have thrown my money away.

God bless those of you who like the game but it's destined to be a painful and embarrassing memory for me.

I thought they retired these games like 8 years ago?
