$2.4 billion US electric vehicle plan revealed, jetpack solution ignored again

Mar 20th 2009 9:51AM (Engadget)
Yeah this is all about getting the tech right. Im all for electric cars, but I dont think any of this is a quick transition, we are still looking at probably a decade of development in infrastructure and the cars themselves before they are really mainstream. People want to save money immediately or soon after and right now, these things cost too much. As soon as the cars are as cheap as standard cars and the infrastructure for recharging them works seamlessly, thats when youll start seeing mass adoption. well that and when they bringing elelctric to more suvs and to trucks.

On top of all of that, right now isnt the best time to try and push more expensive vehicles.

NVIDIA licenses PhysX technology for Sony's PlayStation 3

Mar 17th 2009 3:35PM (Engadget)

This sounds like a great idea, but isnt the PS3's strength in the cell processor and not the gpu? I though the whole point was for devs to leverage the cell processor for the heavy physics lifting and leave the gpu to graphics, etc. Itll be interesting to see how devs can make use of this or if itll largely go unused considering the power of the cell processor.
