Microsoft profits down, Xbox 360 revenues up

Jan 26th 2007 6:10AM (Joystiq)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I knew this would happen! Do you know why it's only 1.6m? Because they still have a crap load of systems to sell....they never 'sold' 10 million consoles, they 'shipped' 10 million consoles.

They probably only offloaded 8 million (in October they were at about 6.5 million...don't tell me you seriously believe they got to 10m in 6 weeks).

Now they are paying the price - their revised target is still the same, only now they have to take into account the ones they couldn't sell before Christmas. This is just too sweet...serves them right for LYING.

Rockstar's Table Tennis is no joke

the problem is this is the sort of game that would do really well in asia, but the thing is consoles tend not to do well in Asia outside of Japan. i don't know...i'm sure it's a fantastic game but i don't know if it's going to be the success they're hoping for.

it's almost impossible for me to imagine them doing this without stealing nintendo's touch screen idea.

EA gobbles up the rest of Battlefield developer DICE

Mar 19th 2006 8:56PM (Joystiq)
"WTF is wrong with you, kinglouse? Why the hell do you think Sega doesn't "deserve" to be the "biggest"? You know, you probably work for EA, and you're just trying to show support for them in a place where there is no mercy for such a repugnant company."

it's not that i hate sega - i love them. and on the same token - i hate EA as much as the next guy.

my point is simply that sega doesn't deserve #1. why did EA become #1? because they were smart. simple as that.

sega had every opportunity to take the top spot. after dreamcast they were able to refocus all their resources into achieving this goal. they had the IP. the momentum. the support. they had everything. and time after time after time, stemming back the last 15 years, they've managed to screw up like you wouldn't believe. 50% of their top franchises are in disarray. they can't even handle their top IP's, let alone the company!

I hate EA for what it is, but there's a part of me that respects their business practices. they are a textbook example of how to grow a business, sustain it, and make a hell of a lot of money in the process. is this the only way of doing things? no. look at nintendo for example - they shine because of QUALITY. there are many ways to achieve success but sega definately hasn't found one.

EA gobbles up the rest of Battlefield developer DICE

AWESOME! i don't care who is the biggest 3rd party as long as it's not Sega.

sega has some of the greatest franchises out there, and they deserve everything they get for mishandling the company for so long. i remember when dreamcast died, they proclaimed that they would be the biggest third party publisher / developer in the industry (does anyone even remember?). they absolutely, positively didn't deserve it, and i'm happy to see it's becoming even more and more impossible for them to achieve this. morons.

GO EA GO.

12-hour Oblivion marathon starts on Monday

that's a cool idea.

it seems that everyone is innovating nowadays except for IGN.

1up, gamespot....and all these blogs have been coming up with all these really creative, interesting ideas for their sites to keep readers interested, not to mention HEAPS of updates and stuff...while i'm stuck with an IGN Insider subscription that's worthless. IGN SUCKS! after last year's pittful E3 coverage i won't be going back. it's gamespot complete for me this year.

Gamepark returns with new XGP handhelds

Mar 6th 2006 11:16PM (Joystiq)
the only reason why the GP2X was able to succeed was because it focused on being a niche product, catered towards the hardcore who were after open systems.

if this one is truly trying to go head to head against nintendo and sony they will fail miserably.

"I'm saying you shouldn't judge people by what's on their skin, be it ink or scars or whatever."

I think you kiddies are confusing what 'should' with what 'is'...

it's not a logical, rational world. treat it as such and you're gonna get burned.
