Jan 26th 2007 6:10AM (Joystiq)They probably only offloaded 8 million (in October they were at about 6.5 million...don't tell me you seriously believe they got to 10m in 6 weeks).
Now they are paying the price - their revised target is still the same, only now they have to take into account the ones they couldn't sell before Christmas. This is just too sweet...serves them right for LYING.

Mar 19th 2006 8:56PM (Joystiq)it's not that i hate sega - i love them. and on the same token - i hate EA as much as the next guy.
my point is simply that sega doesn't deserve #1. why did EA become #1? because they were smart. simple as that.
sega had every opportunity to take the top spot. after dreamcast they were able to refocus all their resources into achieving this goal. they had the IP. the momentum. the support. they had everything. and time after time after time, stemming back the last 15 years, they've managed to screw up like you wouldn't believe. 50% of their top franchises are in disarray. they can't even handle their top IP's, let alone the company!
I hate EA for what it is, but there's a part of me that respects their business practices. they are a textbook example of how to grow a business, sustain it, and make a hell of a lot of money in the process. is this the only way of doing things? no. look at nintendo for example - they shine because of QUALITY. there are many ways to achieve success but sega definately hasn't found one.
EA gobbles up the rest of Battlefield developer DICE
Mar 19th 2006 6:40AM (Joystiq)sega has some of the greatest franchises out there, and they deserve everything they get for mishandling the company for so long. i remember when dreamcast died, they proclaimed that they would be the biggest third party publisher / developer in the industry (does anyone even remember?). they absolutely, positively didn't deserve it, and i'm happy to see it's becoming even more and more impossible for them to achieve this. morons.
GO EA GO.

Mar 18th 2006 3:39AM (Joystiq)it seems that everyone is innovating nowadays except for IGN.
1up, gamespot....and all these blogs have been coming up with all these really creative, interesting ideas for their sites to keep readers interested, not to mention HEAPS of updates and stuff...while i'm stuck with an IGN Insider subscription that's worthless. IGN SUCKS! after last year's pittful E3 coverage i won't be going back. it's gamespot complete for me this year.
