Arkham City PC patched to fix save file problems
Mar 21st 2012 4:12AM (Joystiq)I bought this game on Origin due to a 50% off sale a while ago. Bought through Origin, but it activates on Games for Windows Live. What a cluster arrangement. NEITHER service actually supports automatic updates like Steam does - at least they don't for Batman AC....
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection shrunk down on Vita this summer

Mar 2nd 2012 12:48AM (Joystiq)PS Plus free Minis don't work on Vita, Sony is on the case
Mar 1st 2012 2:47AM (Joystiq)I know this is my mistake, and probably a case of RTFM, but I just learned a bad lesson about PSN "Minis".
I previously believed that the whole point of Minis was that they would run on BOTH the PSP and the PS3. And (once compatibility is updated), eventually on the Vita.
I then mistakenly bought a few Minis on my PSP, assuming they would work on all platforms. After buying Tetris on my PSP, I then find that it will NOT run on the PS3.
After further investigation of the PSN store on my PS3, I realize (which you all may have already known) that there are Minis that run ONLY on PS3, some that run ONLY on PSP, some that run on PSP and Vita, etc. At least on the PS3 PSN store they are organized by what will run on what platform.
But then, I now have no freakin' idea what "Mini" is supposed to mean. I thought it meant it would run on at least both PSP and PS3, and eventually Vita. But then, obviously I was wrong....
Oh well - at least PacMan Championship Edition Mini runs on both PSP and PS3 - and I assume eventually will on Vita.....
Buy 2 get 1 free on select Vita games at GameStop starting today
Feb 19th 2012 11:44PM (Joystiq)BUT, this deal is USELESS to me unless it allows me to purchase PSN codes. I don't want to have a wallet full of Vita cards - I want to put everything on a Vita 32GB memory card.
Hopefully the retail market for selling PSN game codes will pick up, which will allow more sales like this to apply to PSN downloads....
Witcher 2 version 2.0 arriving September 29, included in Xbox 360 version
Aug 18th 2011 1:38AM (Joystiq)OTOH, this is horrible timing for me. I JUST started playing The Witcher 2 on my high-spec PC (can play at full rez with almost ALL the settings maxed, and the graphics in this game blow away anything a PS3 or XB360 can do).
I actually just finished playing The Witcher Enhanced Edition for the first time a week ago. I was glad that I got to play the second, upgraded edition of that game.
Now I am not sure what to do. I can skip the tutorial. But the "20 new tech enhancements" make me wonder if I should wait to play any further until the patch comes out?!?!?!?!?
I don't play through these long open world games more than once (although I am a "completionist" doing all the side quests, so it's not like I am trying to miss out), and I'll likely have finished The Witcher 2 before v 2.0 comes out.
But, in any case, kudos to the developer for supporting the game so well!

Aug 18th 2011 1:19AM (Joystiq)It looks like they even got rid of the stereo speakers (my PSP2000 has them on the front). Notice only a single front speaker now - just left of the screen.
Apple to hold iPhone 4 press conference this Friday
Jul 15th 2010 3:09AM (Engadget)Remember, this is Steve Jobs we are talking about.
THE ONLY PURPOSE OF THIS CONFERENCE IS TO ANNOUNCE AVAILABILITY OF THE WHITE IPHONE!!!!!!!

TiVo Premiere hands-on (update: video!)
Mar 5th 2010 12:06AM (Engadget)I CANNOT BELIEVE how slow the "My Shows" interface is. TiVo expects us to use something this slow????
I for one am no longer surprised at all that this thing is running on Adobe Flash...
Thank goodness I watched the video showing how freaking slow this thing is - otherwise I would have made the mistake of swapping out my Series 3 for this klunker...
Cablevision asks FCC for a waiver to encrypt all Clear QAM channels
Nov 1st 2009 11:23AM (Engadget HD)This is a huge inconvenience for me now, as I HATE cable boxes and have several TVs that were set up to use their built-in clearQAM tuners to watch local HD programming. Now I can't do it. They threw this switch about a month ago.
Combine this with the fact that my single TiVo Series 3 with SDV is so flaky that I literally have to reboot it once a day (or more) or the SDV adapter stops changing the channels. (It was pretty stable, aside from the flaky TWC support for CableCard, prior to the SDV rollout.)
Thanks, FCC, for caving in to the cable providers and not sticking up for the consumer.
