Nacho Libre is all about the DS apparently

Mar 12th 2006 11:50PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Crap. Anchor tags. Sorry about the double post.

Anyway, http://tinyurl.com/p9xu8 is the 4cr post about it, and http://tinyurl.com/rdyuy is the original blog post made last year.

So he's had it since at least last November, and was playing it on the set.

Nacho Libre is all about the DS apparently

He actually DOES play the DS. My brother and sister-in-law were in Oaxaca, Mexico last year when it was being filmed, and they unintentionally stumbled upon the set, and met him. Between takes, he apparently took out his DS and played it. They posted a story about it on their blog, actually.

Full story here, and 4cr reference here. Pretty great read, actually. But yeah, point is, he actually does own a DS, and it wouldn't surprise me if he actually bought it himself and loves it, considering he played it between takes.

Japanese doctors recommend Brain Training for seniors

Mar 7th 2006 2:40PM (Joystiq)
Umm...has Jacko seen this article?

It's good to see that games are getting some good press. Finally. Videogames are actually good for the brain in some ways--think hand-eye coordination--but most older people wouldn't touch them because they're unapproachable to that demographic based on subject matter and complicated control schemes.

A new age of gaming is coming, and it's not just because of Nintendo. As the SNES/Genesis generation begins running the world, and the majority of the population has played or is currently playing videogames, anti-videogame lobbyists will matter less and less, and there will be more stories like this.

A welcome change indeed.

Metareview: Super Princess Peach (DS)

Feb 28th 2006 12:15PM (Joystiq)
Isn't the idea that the princess gets captured every time sexist in and of itself? Sexism in Mario games is nothing new; if anything, I daresay that sending Peach out to save Mario for once is actually a step in the right direction--even if it is a proverbial step forward for two steps back. The jab at the female race for being emotional, though, isn't any worse than her having to be saved in the first place--or, for that matter, any worse than saying Italians are short, round, moustachioed, and love pasta.
