Wait a tick, you mean they're going to crap out another COD? I'll believe that about the same time women have the right to vote!

Twisted Metal review: On cruise control

Feb 14th 2012 1:16PM (Joystiq)
@Huey2k2 Well, I do think we should looks at sequels with a higher standard. If a new IP gets a 3 then you think, oh, OK, there's room for growth. Is there enough to intrigue me here to want to play additional games? But when an historically good series like this, seemingly takes a big step backwards, or doesn't advance anything, then a 3/5 is a big hit to a 4-5/5 series. That shows the games are getting worse, which isn't what you expect. GTA, MGS, Gears, if they are regularly 4.5-5 stars, then after 5 years a 3/5 game drops, you'll think it must be pretty crappy in comparison.

Rumor: Microsoft phasing out Microsoft Points

Jan 24th 2012 2:40PM (Joystiq)
@iceytoa1 You mean like having 44 cents in a PSN wallet account that deals in real currency and sets prices at $X.99? I've had less than a dollar stuck in my PSN account for over a year and a half. There are Indie games for 80MS points at least.

Rumor: Microsoft phasing out Microsoft Points

Jan 24th 2012 2:16PM (Joystiq)
The people that are thrilled by this are looking at it myopically. Will retailers ever sell a $20 XBL card for $15 like they do with MS points sometimes? Will companies reward you, or entice you to complete services in exchange for currency? Probably not. If true, I think this is a terrible idea from a business standpoint, and not that great for consumers either. If you're incapable of Googling what 800 MS Points are in USD, then maybe you shouldn't manage your own finances.

Also, I believe there are legal ramifications to selling currency cards, over proprietary point system cards. I think it relates to tax, and carries over terms and conditions that retailers must abide by. Then let's say they do that ridiculous $4.99 pricing instead of an even $5. How many of you have $.13 in your Playstation Wallet because those pennies saved on purchases now have you left with a useless amount? Not a good situation for anyone really.

New Alan Wake, BioWare game, and MGS Rising details at VGAs

Nov 3rd 2011 2:49PM (Joystiq)
I'm loving all the positive response to Alan Wake news. I too found it to be one of the best games I've ever played. I'm not sure if the people that immediately say "meh" to Wake played it, or their favorite review site told them they should say "meh" about it, but that story, graphics, gameplay, just the experience they crafted with the game, made my jaw drop. The chapter introductions with music...man, this makes me want to run home and play through it again! Remedy is one of the most underrated devs IMO.

Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition announced for 2012

Nov 3rd 2011 1:13PM (Joystiq)
Yup, that's what I was waiting for. Now even mediocre games release GOTY editions a year to 18 months after launch. I waited on the FO3 GOTY edition, and scored big. Wish I would've waited on Borderlands. I didn't realize there was going to be three packs. Ended up spending too damn much on that game and DLC. Great value here.

Weird...I heard videogames were going to die a firey death alongside humanity December 2012. I have GOT to stop getting videogame information from my cult leader!
