Point/Counterpoint: Yea or Nay -- Play on Wii?

Oct 31st 2008 4:53PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
In general I'm against bringing in more ports as opposed to original games, so my initial reaction to this idea is a negative one. However, I was a huge fan of RE:4--Wii edition, so my caveat to the 'no on ports' position may be that it's okay as long as (1): The game TRULY benefits from adding wii-motion controls and (2) the PRICE is right, and by that I'm thinking $20 or $25 tops, maybe as low as $15. Otherwise it just doesn't seem worth it.
My issue on the price-point really depends on how little (or how much, re Dustin above) functionality they add to each game.

DK Mountain was good, and Choco Mountain (I think) for MK64.

Wii Warm Up: Year two

Nov 23rd 2007 12:11PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
#9 - AlexisonFire said, "...some studios are trying, but overall we're seeing too many bad games or games not living up to their potential. 2008 will be the year where Wii may become the PS2, with a wide variety of third party support and great games coming from pretty much everywhere, or the gamecube, where draughts between quality titles will last several months."
Hear, hear! Well said.
...
M-Kart and Brawl will both be great (fingers crossed) but I'm also really looking forward to No More Heroes; a bit of the "mature" factor that the Wii has been/is lacking.
The other two things I'm eagerly awaiting are the new Dr. Mario from the WiiWare channel and A *HARD DRIVE* TO STORE IT ON!
Lords of Ninty, hear my prayer and bring us a f---ing hard drive!!

Amen.

Wii Warm Up: Your fears

Oct 23rd 2007 5:17PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Everything I need to know about surviving zombie attacks I learned from the Resident Evils.

Anyhow, I share fears with some of the above (Brawl not delivering and Galaxy being too easy) but my biggest fear is that around this time next year Nintendo will be pushing out the Wii 2.0 (or whatever they call it). Instead of doling out HDD's and online multiplayer support all piece-meal they'll just launch a new, bigger and better Wii after this generation has proven the solvency of the concept. The fact that big-name developers aren't exactly flooding the "future market" with blockbuster-worthy titles doesn't help alleviate my fears. Beyond this holiday season and then Mario Kart (now with motorbikes!), what else is there?
Yes, No More Heroes looks awesome...But what about after that?
I worry that the Wii's current lack in graphical and storage capabilities will force a new console release in the not-too-distant future...

Before that happens maybe someone could talk Ubisoft into making a Wii-only sequel to XIII (XIIII?) with wii-mote controls and online multiplayer? Just don't remove the bots for offline! Whaddya say Ubisoft? Anyone?
Ahh...A guy can hope.

Average U.S. Wii owner has 2.2 Wiimotes

Sep 19th 2007 2:53PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Ah yes, I foolishly rushed to buy a third wiimote (ontop of the system and the one packaged w/ Wii play). It's been used very very little.
Someone asked about nunchuks? Three of those too, but one is STILL IN IT'S PACKAGE....! Just waiting for a "worthwhile" multiplayer game...Maybe that medal of honor heroes 2 (or whatever it's called)... Ideally Red Steel 2 will allow bots in multiplayer.
Ooops--Off topic; mind the tangent.
