Discover The Secret of Monkey Island (again) on July 15

I can't speak for this game in particular, but many point-and-click adventure games have required quick reactions to events happening in real time.

Some adventure games indeed would be impossible or nearly impossible with a controller (unless they slowed down the events to allow more time or something like that).

Major Nelson: Don't sweat Xbox Live Silverlight ads

While I actually generally agree with the argument being made by badboy, the problem I see which could negate the argument is that using adds could drive customers away from the 360. So you'd have to make enough ad revenue and use said revenue in a way that would make up for the loss from customers angry about ads.

The question is, does whatever they may or may not do with this ad revenue justify the cost of annoying paying customers? My opinion is "probably not."

Joystiq hands-on: X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I like how the jumping/pouncing mechanic is apparently both "wasn't especially useful here" and "useful" at the same time.

It's interesting that they are going with blood and gore. Have any of the comics or shows featuring Wolverine been bloody or is this a first?

That's cool. Good to see little guys getting coverage. But don't expect Joystiq to try it, they are biased against golf.

The high price of board games largely has to do with component costs, while with video games (especially downloadable games) you expect to get more bang for your buck. It has to do with different expectations of value in video games compared to board games

As far as the Resident Evil thing. It also has to do with expectations. While I think Capcom's choice was ill-advised, I don't see any reason to believe that Resident Evil 5 must have multiplayer to begin with. So I somewhat agree with Joystiq's defense.

Some of it looks like LittleBigPlanet, mechanics-wise. Not sure what to make of a lot of it. Some sort of multiplayer soccer platformer?

Eh, the Batman ride was too short. Riddler's Revenge is the way to go.

(I do indeed realize that had nothing to do with your point.)
