Modern Warfare 3 preview: Two heads are better than one

May 29th 2011 3:36PM (Joystiq)
My complaint is on how little it changes. I don't need a strange departure from sequel to sequel, but come on this copy pasting that has been going on for a bit too long is just wrong.

I'm annoyed as well with the absence of any beta being offered after how totally unbalanced and glitchy MW2 was. We know why it was, but that doesn't make it better for all of us who bought then suffered through it all.

And look, I want to know more on Multiplayer, not a 4-5 hour campaign. Leave that a secret, give us the nitty gritty already. Sheesh.

Battlefield has the upper hand and they know it, so why the repeat performance from the last outing which they claim they need to improve upon?

Split/Second was/is awesome. Most fun I've had with a racing game in years and now this BS. Why doesn't another studio who does sloppy work get dismantled?

@ceetheman or just plain ruin the reason we are supposed to play. Too many times games online are ruined by people doing their own thing because they want an achievement, lame. Or how about achievements that encourage players to be terrible teammates online. Gotta love those.

@Danny51990 I've been arguing that when this happens those achievements be made instantly available via a mandatory servers closing down update that allows those who play the game to get them anytime afterwards. Closing servers and making achievements unattainable is bullshit.

@c0bra95 That right there is a SUPER pet peeve of mine for a minute. Complained to those at Microsoft and all that they addressed was how demos used to stay in your game played history making for annoying invites to games you did not own.

I'm just still not happy that we aren't allowed to delete games from our history, regardless if they have unlocked achievements or not. I don't care and would expect achievement points associate with deleted games to disappear with the deleted game.

I just won't ever understand why achievement points are so well guarded and controlled when they mean squat to the bigger picture.

But yeah, if I have 1000K in a game why does a DLC that I won't ever buy add into my equation ruining my perfect completion score for a game? ARGH! Frustration!

I think Infinity Ward were brilliant with how they managed their Achievements. Can you tell online Multiplayer Achievements make me sick? Plus I hate ones created to waste time and slyly attempt at manipulating purchasing or ownership habits.

For examples:
Brother's in Arms: Hell's Highway's Remember September '44
Crysis 2's Dedication
Gears of War 2's Seriously 2.0

So yeah, having any achievements that are more about how long you've owned the game or attempting to force ownership of a game through time consuming ridiculousness are lame.

PSA: Full Gears of War 3 beta launches today, more content next week

@Negatron hear, hear. I haven't played Gears since the month of Gears 2 release due to how horrible the connections and finding a match were for it. But anyhow, you hit my number one complaint thus far for this one on the nose.

@Hawaii Jeff the industry needs to make Demos/BETAs for FPS a part of the marketing and Q+A aspect of their operations. It's a no brainer.

@Lost In Silence I'm with you. When a shooter isn't hardcore sniping and overall gameplay become blah. Last example of a blah game with this and other issues, Homefront. What a waste.

Who can tell me how many shots it takes to kill an enemy player? Past Gears of War, I'm not into spending a half/whole clip on another player for a kill just cause.

Hardcore or no core.
