#22: What you say may have some truth for service based industries, but not for manufactured goods where a company's staffing levels are minimal. The truth here is that Nintendo and SOny are price gourging the european market, clearly the Japs think they can take europeans for a ride.
Its such a shame too as BF1942 was the best multiplayer game I have played. EA have gradually sucked any creative ability out of DICE, to the point that they dont seem to give a damn any more and are content with releasing games that any descent dev would be ashamed to release into the wild. Loading times and multiplayer browser a case in point.
That youtube video makes the mario control scheme look like a gimmick, having to shake the controller just to get him to spin is gonna get really tedious and achieves nothing that a controller button couldnt do already.
Dont get me wrong I like the idea of the new controller for sports games and a few other genres where it improves on a controller, but surely if was any good for mario they would have actually allowed you to move him with the sensors- not just some stupid black & white esque hand that they seem to have invented to give the controller some justification to exist.
And this is from a european who ordinary hates Nintendo for treating europe as third class citizens!.
I agree the graphics look primative in places, but the tennis game was just one element of a multiple sports game so maybe they are going for a quantity rather than quality approach there. Also it looks like they are pretty early in development.
As for Sony they come across as incredibly arrogant and complacent, and this generation id be surprised if they can win the largest installed base again. I couldnt care less about BlueRay Vs HDDVD, and I sure as hell am not gonna pay £100's of pounds more what is in essence a xbox 360 with a larger storage medium. It seems as though Sony's Movie studios are dictating what the PS3 is gonna be and they have forgotten that home consoles are primaraly for video games.
I loved the way the Warhawk producer could barely land the hawk at the end of his e3 demo, that just about sums this up how useful this gimmick is gonna be.
This looks like the same freakin in-game engine as BF2- EA needs to wake up and smell the cofee- its a BROKEN POS and needs to be rewritten from the ground up. If they release another game with a multiplayer lobby and loading times as bad as BF2 they deserve their reputation as money grabbing scumbag corporation. Such a shame beacuse Dice make good games if you can tolerate all the sloppy and rushed coding...
Has anyone ever found out what Blizzard mean by 'Internet Game Room players' whoom they seem to count as subscribers in their definition? I wonder how many boxed copies have been sold, surely the industry body released that info somewhere? Ssould be interesting to see how many people have ditched the game...
