That is quite an odd statement. Although multiplatform games do benefit from a larger consumer base from which to sell a product to, I would question the overall budget spend for any title regardless of platform availability. I say the above statement is odd because making the title in question multiplatform would have added significantly greater cost to the currently very large budget.

Joystiq: I think you should revise your article to read

I know it seems nitpicky but considering the game still has yet to be released and the install base in the US will increase between now and the release date it would be a more accurate statement with the correction...

ACTUALLY ACTUALLY.... you forgot to subtract the $50 for xbox live gold annually and another $100 for the wireless adapter and $15 for rechargeable batteries.. so i guess that means only about a $15 difference, until next year anyways when you have to re-up your live subscription again.

Give me a break guys....8GB flash memory can be had for less than $60 retail. That means the manufacturer and the retailer are BOTH making money at that price point. I jumped on the Frys deal for a 4GB card for $40 with free shipping from earlier this week for my PSP. For the length of time the PSP has been out now Sony has undoubtedly reduced the size and manufacturing costs of the core components. And Sony has never been scared to sell their hardware at a loss to gain marketshare.

And gears only sold what 33K its first week, and Blue Dragon has only racked up 150K total.... guess the 360 must be dead too someone tell MS to stop production

you deserve your -1 star you give a short story of your observation of a single store where you claim to be there for an hour and noone bought a ps3 and you conclude from that that noone at all wants a ps3. Should I counter with a statement that I have been to multiple retailers in teh past 3 weeks and have yet to see anyone purchase a 360 therfore noone wants one at all.....I see them on the shelves everywhere i go. Plenty of them at online retailers... lots of retailers offering $100 dollar rebates and pack in games and they are not selling out. And, there are hundreds of 360's on ebay going for less then retail. Must be a bad time for Microsoft because nobody wants a 360 ....according to your logic that is

I enjoyed the hell out of Gears of War....was it short? Yes...is teh multiplayer innovative? No. But i havent had as much fun playing co-op since Serious Sam on the PC. Gears is a great game to pick up for an hour or so and have a lot of fun just killing stuff.

Personally I feel game of teh year awards should go to games that do something to push the envelope. Something that hasnt been done before in that genre and executes it very well. Or a game that creates a new game category. Does Gears do this, no. Is it fun as hell? you better believe it. If this game was released on another platform like the original xbox or ps2 it would still be fun as hell to play.

On teh harder settings it is really hard for me to even notice the great visuals because I am so engrossed in trying to not get killed.

I went to a local gamestop to spend a giftcard I recieved for christmas and asked teh clerk if they had any ps3's just so happened they recieved 2 that day. NOw that store has zero.....got them both, one for me and one for my buddy. Don't say noone wants them anymore.
