Sony reveals 'a few' games from their E3 lineup

Jun 18th 2008 3:08PM (Joystiq Playstation)
There isn't any on the list, but I am hoping to hear something from Team ICO. Sony did say that they had two or so games in development. If something from that team were indeed revealed, just imagine the response from both the press and public alike. Preferably, I am hoping something somewhere between the times of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Team ICO is part of Sony, aren't they?

MS wants to be first out of the gate with Xbox 720

Hopefully at that point, there won't be any more FPS's, just good 'ol JRPGs. I sorta sick and tired of gay little Halo and it's pedophile cousin, Gears of War hogging up all of the good press when you have cool game like Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remnant, Star Ocean, Lost Odyssey, ect. Go, Japan! Show these dirty, filthy American and European dogs how to make real, bugless, glitchless games!!!!!!!!!!

So what does this mean for games like what Team ICO would make? What about JRPG's? It's funny, but it seems that Microsoft and Sony switched positions this generation. Last generation it was Microsoft who was catering to the hardcore PC croud with a bevy of first person shooters and online network capabilities while Sony continued to dole single player game after single player game. If you really look at it, it is Microsoft who is now catering to the single player croud with their vast selection of single player games of various genres while Sony seems content to stick to FPS's and prefers to stick to online gaming as their shtick. My frustration with Sony only grows more deeper.

The Agency will be microtransaction free, actually

Any idea when this game is coming out? I like Warhawk ok, but this seems to be more to my liking. How will it stack against Metal Gear Online? Will this game be strictly purchased from the PSN or will you be able to get a hard-copy of the game at a store? Bob bless free online gaming!!!!!

To Dahk,
Didn't mean to piss off anybody about my first comment. I just happen to prefer JRPG's and it's that my butt is still a bit sore over Star Ocean 4, Last Remnant, and Infinite Undiscovery. I really thought the first Resistance was pretty good, but my problem is, (and everyone can rip on me if you like), is that I suck at first person shooters. I can usually do the single player campaigns OK, but when it gets to multi-player, than my total suckage goes up about fifteen to twenty levels. I don't doubt that this new Resistance looks good, but when you suck as bad as I do, there is really no choice but to go the sissy JRPG route.

I think I'm gonna pass on this game. There's been way too many FPS' of late and I'm sorta burned out on them. I would have preferred it if this article were instead about Final Fantasy XIII's gameplay and how awsome it is that it is still PS3 exclusive. One can dream. One can dream

I am so mad that I live in the butt end of the universe(Alabama) and so far from Hideo Kojima that I could pee Skittles. Well, time to catch the rainbow and my paid off LE MGS4 on the 'morrow. Will play non-stop until I either pay if off or I have a scanners moment. Wish me luck and a good 'ol RIP!!!

Star Ocean 4 currently Xbox exclusive, Last Remnant delayed on PS3

Jun 10th 2008 10:24AM (Joystiq Playstation)
I took a look at this site this morning and saw that the Disgaea article was still up. I then went over to Xbox 360 fanboy and the first thing to greet my eyes was that Star Ocean was coming to that console and that there was little chance that it was coming to the PS3. When I read that, I kinda had the feeling that this was it for Sony. It seems that any momentum that I felt both the system and company had gained went right out the window with Sqeenix's announcement. On top of that, The Last Remnant is now officially a timed exclusive for Microsoft. It seems that of right now, the only game that Sony has to crow about 'this entire year' that isn't some silly FPS is MGS4. As much as I love that game,(I will be going to the midnight launch), it is still nothing but a shooter. As often as non-M$ fanboys tout that the Xbox 360 is a one trick horse in that all they have to offer are FPS' and other types of shooters, the reality is much different. If you really take a close look, it seems that it is Sony who is the one trick horse this time. Nothing but shooters and FPS games and that seems to be about it. Sure Resistance was OK, but it really was nothing more than a Halo clone. I know that a lot of you are about to haze me as being a M$ fanboy, but I'm not, trust me. I own two 60gb PS3's, thirteen PS3 games, and nearly 150 PS2, PS1, and PSP games. I sometimes feel that I spent way too much money on all of this stuff, but I love them all the same. Anyhoo, what I'm getting at is that I feel that this year is Sony's last chance to turn things around. If they aren't able to secure any more exclusives other than MGS4 and supposedly both FFXIII's, then it will be all over for them this generation. I really feel that the PS3 is truely the more superior system this generation as far as sheer power goes, but if there aren't any games to display that power, then it all goes to waste in the end. I don't want to see that happen, but the way things are going, (especially with the lack of announcements about any exclusive third-party PS3 titles), I just don't see that happening. As I've said before, I have no intention of ever selling my PS3's, but I do now own a 360 and since I do, I would be willing to venture that there are a bunch of Sony fanboys, especially the JRPG crowd, that do too. Please Sony, either do something about this dearth of games on both the PS3 and PSP, or just call quits this generation and go back to the drawing board. I'm sorry if I've pissed off some people, but I don't care, For me, it's not about any of you fanboys out there, but all about what I want and what I want is more games on both of my Sony systems.

Lucky guy: Metal Gear Solid 4 unboxing

Jun 9th 2008 3:34AM (Joystiq Playstation)
You aren't the only one with mutiple systems. I have two 60gb models; one that's opened and in use and the other that's still in the box and is a backup incase the first goes out on me and Sony can't fix it. I got it last October at Best Buy and it was the last one they had in stock. It was going for $499. The moment I saw it I knew I had to have it since Sony had already discontinued that particular SKU. I'm glad I did so. Since I have been reading on this site that Sony apparently doesn't have the parts anymore that that model, it is sort of a weight off of my mind.

If you love JRPG's, why not sign a petition?

Yeah, this trend needs to end now. I just got a 360 so I could play Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and the upcoming Tales of Vesperia. This is driving me mad because I would rather play them on my PS3 since that is what I got it for. Now Square-Enix is releasing Infinite Undiscovery as a 360 exclusive. Oh yeah, and on top of that, look at what Atlus is releasing. Granted, they are SRPG's, but still they are releasing two of them as 360 exclusives as well. What the hell is going on, Sony. I know that FPS's are popular at the moment and you feel the need to capatalize on that popularity, but what about the rest of us that so happen not to play those? Why aren't you pestering Namco-Bandai to bring Eternal Sonata over to the States? What about nudging Sqeenix to hurry up with FFXIII? Where the fudge is White Knight Chronicle? Beat down Level 5 and tell them to quit making those silly Professor Layton games and get back to some quality goodness. BTW Sony, wtf with the PSP. All JRPG's for a good long time and now there's a drought worse than what Georgia's going through. Get your act together now or I just might sell my PS3 and go 360 exclusive(I wouldn't really do that since it's a 60gb model and all, but still, come on Sony). Sorry 'bout the rant, just a little PO'd at the state of gaming of late.
