Gears of War: A multiplayer hangover

Dec 29th 2006 8:01PM (Joystiq Xbox)
The thing we should be the most angry about is the fact they let it out the door with all these issues. Now some are forgiveable mind you, but not being able to play with your friends...WTF? Halo 2 comes out and its endlessly ripped off by other developers, and hey, if it makes games better, I'm all for it. But why not use Halo 2 as a diagram for how console matchmaking should be done? Developers need to stop worrying about deadlines and start worrying about what theyre game is, a piece of art. Would all of you be OK if you were watching a movie and the camera was out of focus, or the plot had holes in it, and the studio came along and fixed it 3 months later. NO, and we fucking pay 60 dollars for these games....

Rant: Gears has no innovation, says EA

Nov 10th 2006 3:20PM (Joystiq Xbox)
You know what, I partly agree. Dont get me wrong, its a solid game, but its lacking in alot of areas. Sure the cover gameplay is well done, but its far from innovative. The storyline is far from original. The characters are generic, theres no emotion involved. The voice acting is mediocre. But, of course, the graphics are amazing. As the budgets of video games rise to that of movies, I think developers should start treating them like movies. Don't settle for shitty actors and a shitty plotline and distract us with big explosions. I think everyone shelling out 60 per game is owed that at least.

Sony lawsuits force Lik-Sang to close up shop [update 1]

Oct 24th 2006 8:28PM (Joystiq)
Ive never been one to bash on a company, but Sony just really seems to know what buttons to push. I'm sure Lik-Sang was threatening the existance of your company I CALL BULLSHIT!

Note to Wii: Don't screw these five things up

"WHAT? You mean the company that has been innovating gameplay from the beginning? Nintendo is consistently changing the way we play games through innovation. Mario 64 is a perfect example of perfect transition from 2d to 3d. Once Nintendo paved the way, everyone else followed.

Everytime a company innovates (read: Nintendo) most people complain that it's gimmicky or that it just wont work. Well the DS definetly proved that 'gimicks' can work.

If the industry didn't innovate, try new things, we'd never know if there was a better way of doing things. I am not saying that ms/sony online system is the way to go or that Nintendo will blow us out of the water with a new system. You'll never know until someone sticks their head out and gives it a shot."

Friend Codes are not innovation, they do not IMPROVE on any one thing. Im talking about theyre approach to only gameplay, not the system itself. I actually might buy one.

Note to Wii: Don't screw these five things up

The mere fact that they are not including voice chat as a main feature for online play is a big mistake, and the friend code is a horrible idea. PS3 got it right when they borrowed heavily from Microsoft's XBOX Live. Why not do what you know will work, instead of venturing out into new territory blindly?

GayGamer.net launches, outs 24 game characters

Jul 31st 2006 3:39PM (Joystiq)
Anybody who is offended by this is dense. Are you telling me you have never in your life, laughed at a stereotype? Yeah, thats right...its funny, and most stereotypes are true, they have to had been based on some fact. Is it a coincedence that every Nail Salon Ive been to is run by Asians? Is it a coincidence that almost every Black person I know listens to Hip Hop/Rap/RB? I work with a good amount of gay's (Crate and Barrel) and they all watch Will and Grace...okay? So shutup please, I thought you Gays were supposed to be laid back...

Video proof: 360 firmware hacked

Mar 18th 2006 8:26PM (Joystiq Xbox)
This is for real, it was posted on Xbox - Scene, one of the most reliable and most wary when posting any information about possible breakthroughs in X360 modifications. The guy who figured this out also figured out how to run burnt games on the original Xbox without modding it at ALL! But he never released it because of the possible reprecussions, (hacking on Halo 2 without being banned, being that your booting from the disc modders could mod on disc maps) Shut your mouth if your not informed about these things.
