The only relevant thing in that ad is the suitcase of money blowing up at the beginning.

AdAge asks Gates about Hodgman to ill effect

He was on the Daily Show recently and Jon Stewart gave him a little ribbing about PCs being hard to use (I don't think he mentioned Apple), but he got up and walked off the stage abruptly at the end of the interview and stormed off. The man's got a temper.

Hands-on with the LG Prada

"It's exactly what it says on the tin- multiple touches. The keyboard Apple demonstrated did not use it, and it'd be entirely stupid if it did, as it would require you to have two digits on the screen to type anything. Think about how you use a phone - generally you hold it in the palm of your hand and press buttons with your thumb. Multi-touch would mean either you had to get one of your fingers onto the screen from /behind the phone/, put the phone down somewhere, or use both hands (as Jobbs did in the demonstration of it to scale pictures). "

The keyboard does use multi-touch. This is a fairly large phone, and is competing with smartphones (or so Jobs claims), so you would probably use the keyboard in the same way that most smartphone users do, with two thumbs. When you're doing this one thumb would be resting on the screen while the other hunts and pecks. Without multi-touch it wouldn't be able to deal with both thumbs on the screen at once, with multi-touch, it can.

Give us these DS games ... or else!

I'm pretty sure it's coming, but I can't stop demanding Tetris Attack. Originally for the SNES, the japanese version was called Panel Du Pon in japan, Pokémon Puzzle Challenge for the Game Boy, Pokémon Puzzle League for the N64, and just plain Puzzle League for the GBA (on a cart with Dr. Mario). This is my favorite game of all time, they just need to let you position the cursor with the stylus so I don't have to use the crappy d-pad on the DS.

Obama: 'Stop playing GameBoy'

"I'm sure the comment was made for the parents of the kids, not the kids themselves..."
-jollydwarf

I swear nobody even reads the article summary anymore. It's right up there at the top of the page

"Obama spoke to a group of youths about recruiting their friends for his campaign."

If you know anything about campaigns then it's pretty easy to put this in context. He's asking people who already support him, to ask their friends, if they believe in him, to make a sacrifice for his campaign by cutting back on recreational activities in order to make calls or go door to door (primarily what the kids to in a campaign).

To those who say "why should I bother, what's in it for me?" The idealist would say that if you really believe in his message you should support it. The opportunist would say that working campaigns is a good way to get into politics. If your candidate wins that builds your rep and as you get older and work on more campaigns you stand a chance to be offered a job when your guy is elected. From there it's all brandy, cigars, and corporate bribes! Yeah Baby!

GameHead gets Reggie making PS3 shooting crack

I don't understand why people have a problem with that comment, it's a little cheap, but within the field of play. We all saw the difference between to two launches, and the ps3 launch certainly had increased tensions and violence.

Obama: 'Stop playing GameBoy'

"So when any politician tells me put down my gameboy for them, my response is what the hell are you putting down for me."

Well, he's quitting smoking.

I think you guys are making a big dust-up over a throw-away line. It's not like he said "gameboys are bad mmmkay" or "video games are turing our children's brains into delicious tapioca." He's talking to a group of young supporter and asking them to recruit campaign volunteers. It's akin to him saying "It's time to put away your toys and engage in politics." He really doesn't strike me as the kind of politician who would seriously go after video games. Then again who knows.

And for those of you who have decided on your choice for president, it's way too early. Anything could happen in the next 1.5 years.
