Walt Disney World on 5 apps a week

Jan 14th 2010 3:24PM (TUAW.com)
@Brian Allen - Thanks for the tip. Hadn't seen that before. Pity they don't have the actual wait times that the in-park boards show. Just 'see now' and 'moderate' and such. Still very nice.

New 'Avatar' Trailer Washes Away Skepticism

No, not Fern Gully - I got Pocahontas. Natives on land that the invading military want. One of their own sides with the natives.

Pocahontas 2: This time In space. And it's a dude.

Big Surf Island adds 15 events, 10 freeburn challenges to Burnout Paradise

Boooo. Only 10 freeburn challenges is abysmally low.

Grabbed by the Ghoulies scares gamers, becomes Xbox Original

Feb 16th 2009 12:38PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I enjoyed this game, haters be damned.

The gameplay is more old-school-arcade style. The story is amusing. The art/animation/production were great, as is always the case with Rare.

Overlord II DLC to be available 'closer to release'

Dec 22nd 2008 1:06PM (Joystiq Xbox)
The DLC is a perfect reason to play the game again. It was a great set of stuff to play through.

Burnout Paradise's Big Surf Island now premium DLC

Arg! Right in their own release they say that at some point they said it would be free. Apparently I missed that podcast. NEVERMIND.

Burnout Paradise's Big Surf Island now premium DLC

Dec 1st 2008 2:00PM (Joystiq)
The island was always going to be paid content. All the other updates they did so far (bikes, new online game modes, etc) were free - but they have always said (on their own blog/forums) that the island would be the first paid add on.

So, unless there's a [citation] that refutes, this article is wrong.

Ticket to Ride vs. Ticket to Ride vs. Ticket to Ride

Jul 3rd 2008 9:45AM (Joystiq)
It's specifically because of the many pieces and complicated scoring that games like Carcassonne and Ticket To Ride are perfectly suited to something like XBLA. It's great to not have to shuffle cards, fiddle with plastic bits, or do the complicated score tally.

And it's a damn shame that only 'nerdy D&D players' know about games like these. I've introduced the board game version of both to extended family at holidays and everybody had a great time.

Not that I'm really against other more simple board games on live, really.

Discuss: Should Pixar Stay Away from Sequels?

Apr 11th 2008 9:14AM (Cinematical)
The reason for "Cars 2"? It is HUGE in merchandise, almost as big as the "Toy Stories""

It's this. And actually, it was bigger than toy story in merchandising. The matchbox cars sold in huge numbers.

There's also a large 'cars land' section of Disneys California Adventure opening that year.

And if you read the synopsis, this cars movie has the racers going international -- to add appeal for other countries where they don't have any love for nascar (which will only make the merchandising even larger).

I'm sure this was a decision pushed by the new owners (Disney) and not by Pixar themselves. They've wanted to do Toy Story 3 for some time, but Disney wouldn't give them credit for it on their contract of 5 movies. They have a pretty solid story idea that gives closure to the characters, so that'll be cool.
