When Valve let up to 25 hardware development staff go <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/13/report-valve-fires-dozens-of-hardware-android-staff/">in February</a>, Jeri Ellsworth was one of them, and she was working on a pair of 3D augmented-reality glasses at the time called Cast AR. Ellsworth continued work on them with her new company, Technical Illusions, and recently let our friends at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/18/cast-ar-hands-on-with-jeri-ellsworth-at-maker-faire-2013/?utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Engadget</a> take them out for a spin at the Maker Faire 2013 event in San Mateo, CA.<br />
<br />
Cast AR is described as a "projected augmented reality system" on the company's <a href="http://technicalillusions.com/news/games-projected-into-your-world/">site</a>. Ellsworth said she plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign later in the year to fund the project, with the goal of each kit adding up to less than $200 for buyers. The site notes plans to include a development kit with each pair.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/engadget-goes-hands-on-with-ex-valve-engineers-ar-glasses/">Engadget goes hands-on with ex-Valve engineer's AR glasses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 19 May 2013 22:30:00 EST. Spicy Horse's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/07/american-mcgees-spicy-horse-working-on-a-shiny-new-oz-game/">Oz game</a> combines the undead with "an Oz not of our remembering" - it's called <em>OZombie</em>, and it stars Dorothy, Toto, the Lion and the Tin Woodsman. The Scarecrow, who always wanted <em>brains</em>, is cast as the villain in this iteration, and instead of carrying around a basket, Dorothy gets a repeater.<br />
<br />
Spicy Horse is unsure which game it will make next, <em>OZombie</em> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/alice"><em>Alice: Otherlands</em></a>, and it all depends on whether the studio can regain the Alice rights from EA. If Spicy Horse and EA work out a good deal, then <em>Alice</em> it is. If not, <em>OZombie</em> gets the green light and probably <a href="https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=134509120078060&amp;id=131172300411742">a Kickstarter</a>.<br />
<br />
"Actually, the more I think about it - and the more I see/hear feedback from you guys - the more I'm personally leaning towards Oz," Spicy Horse founder American McGee writes on the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/OZombie/131172300411742"><em>OZombie</em> Facebook page</a>. "There's so much fun stuff to explore, so many interesting characters and locations to discover. Wonderland will also be there, if not today, if not the next project, then perhaps the one after that?"<br />
<br />
Keep in mind (and mind your brains) that<em> OZombie</em> is entirely separate from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/07/american-mcgees-spicy-horse-working-on-a-shiny-new-oz-game/"><em>American McGee's Oz</em></a>, the game Atari canceled in 2004.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/spicy-horses-oz-game-is-ozombie-if-i-only-had-some-brainsss/">Spicy Horse's Oz game is OZombie: 'If I only had some brainsss'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 19 May 2013 21:00:00 EST. Arc System Works announced <em>Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN</em> at its 25th anniversary festival in Yokohama, Japan today. While there are no details yet on what platforms the arcade fighter will appear on, the developer uploaded an introductory trailer to its <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKGPhKu3jNg">YouTube</a> channel.<br />
<br />
The trailer features a battle between series mainstays Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske. <em>Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN</em> will, once again, be directed by Daisuke Ishiwatari, who also composed the song heard in the trailer. The video shows that the game will run on the Unreal engine and won't use sprites, a first for the developer. Additionally, while the character shown at the end seems to be Milla Rage, the character briefly reflected in her eyes appears to be Eddie/Zato-1.<br />

Terry Cavanagh throws <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/01/unfinished-business-super-hexagon-creator-reveals-his-abandonwa/">a ton of game ideas</a> into the online hive mind, and it looks like he found one that sticks with <em>Halting Problem </em>(tentative title). Last week Cavanagh posted a set of Vines - "<a href="https://twitter.com/terrycavanagh/status/334445483848245250">Pushing a block</a>" and "<a href="https://twitter.com/terrycavanagh/status/335167683987378176">Fistbump</a>" - and this weekend he wrote in <a href="http://distractionware.com/blog/2013/05/halting-problem-screenshotsaturday/">his blog</a> that <em>Halting Problem</em> will probably be his "main focus for a while."<br />
<br />
"A proper, meaty puzzle game is something I've wanted to make for ages, and I'm having lots of fun just messing around with the mechanics for this one and seeing what I can make out of them," Cavanagh said. It's inspired by <a href="http://caravelgames.com/Articles/Games_2/TCB.html"><em>DROD</em></a>, but also things like <a href="http://qrostar.skr.jp/index.cgi?lang=en">Qrostar games</a>, <a href="http://www.zachtronicsindustries.com/">Zachtronic games</a>, and my flatmate <a href="http://www.increpare.com/">Increpare's games</a>."<br />
<br />
Cavanagh said he's really excited about this one - and so is that happy little sprite.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/terry-cavanagh-picks-up-proper-meaty-puzzle-game-halting-pro/">Terry Cavanagh picks up 'proper, meaty puzzle game,' Halting Problem</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 19 May 2013 18:00:00 EST. A <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-origins"><em>Batman: Arkham Origins</em></a> pre-order image on Amazon offers Deathstroke as a playable character via DLC. Check it out in a rolling image header <a href="http://www.amazon.com/computer-video-games-hardware-accessories/b/?_encoding=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;node=468642&amp;tag=thserainpsne-20">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Batman and Deathstroke went head-to-head in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/arkham-origins-tease-features-deathstroke-ballet/">last week's teaser video</a>, but there was no word on how the striker of mortality would be incorporated into <em>Arkham Origins</em>. This could be a Catwoman in <em>Arkham City </em>situation, where she got an entire spin-off campaign, or it might be something entirely new.<br />
<br />
One aspect of <em>Arkham Origins</em> is confirmed today - <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/kevin-conroy-returns-for-batman-arkham-origins/">Kevin Conroy will return</a> as a voice actor.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/arkham-origins-stars-deathstroke-in-some-playable-capacity/">Arkham Origins stars Deathstroke in some playable capacity</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 19 May 2013 16:30:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/why-defiances-fun-now-depth-later-is-great-for-mmorpgs/"><img alt="Why Defiance's 'fun now, depth later' is great for MMORPGs" data-src-height="298" data-src-width="530" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/defiance1.jpg" /></a></div>
I had my <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/world-of-warcraft"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a> year. In 2007, when 'The Burning Crusade' came out, the game clicked with me and it became almost the only thing I played for months on end, to the point where I started raiding with an up-and-coming guild. I know many other people who've had that year, with <em>WoW</em> or some other massively multiplayer game, before they lost interest, burnt out, or continued out of habit more than joy. In the last year or so, I've tried several massively-multiplayer role-playing games - <em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em>, <em>Guild Wars 2</em>, <em>The Secret World </em>- and couldn't find that magic again. I could admire the design, but quickly lost interest in playing them. I was starting to think I'd never really like a massively multiplayer game again - and then, on a whim, I decided to check out <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Defiance/">Defiance</a></em>.<br />
<br />
 <em>Defiance </em>is the main game I've been playing for two weeks now, and this may continue. It's not that it's less flawed than the other MMORPGs, but instead that the parts of the game that it focuses on hold much more appeal to me. To put it another way: Most games within this genre are focused on combat, and <em>Defiance</em>'s combat is significantly more fun for me than its competitors'.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/defiance-pax-east-2012/">Defiance (PAX East 2012)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/defiance-pax-east-2012/#4948638"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/defiance1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/defiance-pax-east-2012/#4948639"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/defiance2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/defiance-pax-east-2012/#4948640"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/defiance6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/defiance-pax-east-2012/#4948641"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/defiance7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/defiance-pax-east-2012/#4948642"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/defiance8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/why-defiances-fun-now-depth-later-is-great-for-mmorpgs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Why Defiance's 'fun now, depth later' is great for MMORPGs</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/why-defiances-fun-now-depth-later-is-great-for-mmorpgs/">Why Defiance's 'fun now, depth later' is great for MMORPGs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 19 May 2013 15:00:00 EST. <br />
Kevin Conroy will be in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-origins"><em>Batman: Arkham Origins</em></a>, and he's already spent 10 months in the studio recording those gruff-yet-dulcet tones. Conroy confirmed his involvement at Dallas Comic-Con, but didn't specify if he plays The Bat himself - not that he has to. He opened the panel with, "I am vengeance. I am the night. <em>I am Batman</em>." Because, you know, he is.<br />
<br />
NAG magazine reported in April that Warner Bros. had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/29/report-batman-arkham-origins-doesnt-feature-voice-actor-kevin/">passed on Conroy</a> for <em>Arkham Origins</em>.<br />
<br />
Conroy voiced Batman in both <em>Arkham Asylum</em> and <em>Arkham City</em>, and he was the man behind Bruce Wayne in <em>Batman: The Animated Series</em>, <em>Batman: Beyond</em> and subsequent DC universe cartoon spin-offs. Arkham Origins is scheduled to launch on October 25 for Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/kevin-conroy-returns-for-batman-arkham-origins/">Kevin Conroy returns for Batman: Arkham Origins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 19 May 2013 13:30:00 EST. Meanwhile, $35 Steam codes through <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/groupon-for-25-off-bioshock-infinite-on-steam/">Groupon</a> for the game appear to <a href="http://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-bioshock-pc">still be available</a> until the end of the day. What we're trying to say is, today <em>might</em> be a good day to buy a new game.<br />

This time around on the Webcomic Wrapup, we're trying to embrace the idea of a new console <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/23/weekly-webcomic-wrapup-isnt-ready-for-the-ps4/">a little more</a> than before. Considering Microsoft's big Xbox reveal is mere days away, it seems like a good time to have fun playing Fantasy Hardware Manufacturer.<br />
<br />
So, this week's question is: If you were in charge of naming the console being unveiled on May 21, what would you call it? While you contemplate just how viable a system named "infinity" is, check out last week's webcomics and vote for your favorites after the break!<br />

The original soundtrack for <em>Mega Man 5</em> is now available for $8.95 on Capcom's <a href="http://shop.capcom.com/store/capcomus/en_US/pd/ThemeID.1944700/productID.281373700/Mega-Man-5-Official-Soundtrack.html?resid=UV9foAoBAlgAAANGKc8AAAA8&amp;rests=1368913879766">official shop</a>; it's almost as if they planned its release to coincide with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/new-nintendo-eshop-releases-super-metroid-super-ghouls-n-ghos/">debut</a> of <em>Mega Man 5</em> on the 3DS Virtual Console. What a weird coincidence!<br />
<br />
At 57 hot jams long, <em>Mega Man 5</em>'s soundtrack was composed by Mari Yamaguchi, who was often credited mononymously (as "Mari") for her work at Capcom. She also composed the music for <em>Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts</em> and several of the songs on the <em>Breath of Fire</em> soundtrack, in addition to handling arrangement duties for the TurboGrafx-16 version of <em>Street Fighter 2: Champion Edition</em>. Yamaguchi returned to the Mega Man franchise in 2010, penning the stage theme for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mega-man-10"><em>Mega Man 10</em></a>'s Sheep Man.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/mega-man-5-ost-busts-into-the-capcom-store/">Mega Man 5 OST busts into the Capcom Store</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 22:30:00 EST. New Regency Films and Ubisoft Motion Pictures' Assassin's Creed movie collaboration will hit theaters May 22, 2015, according to <a href="http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=assassinscreed.htm">Box Office Mojo</a>. Starring Michael Fassbender, the movie concerns "a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret org with ties to the Knights Templar, and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts," according to a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/09/michael-fassbender-starring-in-and-co-producing-assassins-creed/">Variety report</a> last year.<br />

We're guessing this release date means that Ubisoft is going to continue to ignore our repeated (and might we add, quite generous) offers to write the film as a reimagined version of <em>You've Got Mail</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/report-assassins-creed-movie-to-open-in-may-of-2015/">Report: Assassin's Creed movie to open in May of 2015</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 21:00:00 EST. Krillbite Studio's first-person baby simulator/horror game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/among-the-sleep"><em>Among the Sleep</em></a> has completed its 30-day Kickstarter <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/krillbite/among-the-sleep">campaign</a>, raising a grand total of $248,358 from 8,110 backers - nearly $50,000 more than the $200,000 fundraising goal originally set.<br />
<br />
All that extra cash will be put towards buying ice cream, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/07/among-the-sleep-adds-support-for-occulus-rift-playable-alpha-co/">Oculus Rift compatibility</a> and a developer commentary track, though the campaign's bonus earnings didn't extend far enough for the "supersecret free DLC" stretch goal to be funded. <em>Among the Sleep</em> is expected to launch on PC, OSX and Linux during the fourth quarter of this year, but intrigued folks can go ahead and check out the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/among-the-sleep-free-public-alpha-coming-tomorrow/">public alpha</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/among-the-sleep-kickstarter-ends-nearly-50k-beyond-its-target/">Among the Sleep Kickstarter ends nearly $50k beyond its target</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 19:30:00 EST. The upcoming console/PC iteration of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/resident-evil-revelations"><em>Resident Evil: Revelations</em></a> will include a trio of confusing new costumes for Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield and Keith Lumley, Capcom has <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/brelston/blog/2013/05/14/pirate-jill-and-chris-ninja-keith-costumes-unlockable-in-revelations">announced</a>. As can be seen in the gallery, Jill and Chris both sport equally leggy nautical-themed outfits, while Keith channels his inner <a href="http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Roronoa_Zoro">One Piece character</a> as a shirtless sword-guy in hammer pants.<br />
<br />
Costumes are unlocked by playing through the game's Campaign and Raid modes, in addition to "other unlocking mechanisms" that Capcom is keeping a secret. We're just hoping Capcom eventually rides this train of thought all the way to its logical extreme: Pretty Soldier Sailor Claire Redfield.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-revelations-new-costumes/">Resident Evil: Revelations (New costumes)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-revelations-new-costumes/#5889664"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/976924587353061285585720603118o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-revelations-new-costumes/#5889662"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/96490858813059787449856113012o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-revelations-new-costumes/#5889663"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/9198585873530712855841241595201o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/resident-evil-revelations-adds-pirate-jill-sailor-chris-ninja/">Resident Evil: Revelations adds Pirate Jill, Sailor Chris, Ninja Keith</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 18:00:00 EST. Ouya's E3 presence will be open to the public, as it plans to show off games for its console in a parking lot down the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center where E3 will be held in June. The information comes from an email to registered Ouya developers from head of developer relations, Kellee Santiago.<br />
<br />
Santiago says Ouya will provide developers with "everything you'll need to put on a killer game demo," such as an Ouya console, controllers and TV, during the convention's entire three-day stretch from June 11 to June 13. Registered developers, of which there are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/19/ouya-passes-10-000-registered-developers/">over 10,000</a>, have until May 28 to submit a form declaring their intent to show off their game at the Ouya lot, with hourly time slots available for each of the three days.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/ouya-booth-to-be-open-to-the-public-in-a-parking-lot-outside-of/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ouya booth to be open to the public in a parking lot outside of E3</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/ouya-booth-to-be-open-to-the-public-in-a-parking-lot-outside-of/">Ouya booth to be open to the public in a parking lot outside of E3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 16:30:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/boston-festival-of-indie-games/">Boston Festival of Indie Games</a> has announced that its keynote speaker will be Robin Hunicke, former executive producer of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/journey"><em>Journey</em></a>. Hunicke's talk, Finding Meaning in Gameplay, will "focus on how developers can create games that inspire new feelings, by looking inward and examining the everyday experiences of their own lives," according to the festival's <a href="http://bostonfig.com/speakers/">site</a>.<br />
<br />
Hunicke left thatgamecompany in late <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/29/robin-hunicke-leaves-thatgamecompany-for-tiny-speck/">March 2012</a> for Tiny Speck, before co-founding indie studio Funomena in September 2012 with former thatgamecompany programmer Martin Middleton.<br />
<br />
The Boston Festival of Indie Games, which is in its second year of existence, will be held on September 14. Its planners are raising funds on <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bostonfig/boston-festival-of-indie-games-2013">Kickstarter</a> to improve the event, and are currently $2,414 shy of their $15,000 goal with 11 days left in the funding campaign. Incentive for those pledging $25 or more (aside from a warm, charitable feeling) is a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/25/boston-festival-of-indie-games-offers-pc-game-bundle-as-kickstar/">PC bundle</a> that includes <em>Fieldrunners</em> and <em>Go Home Dinosaurs</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/journey-producer-robin-hunicke-to-speak-at-boston-festival-of-in/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Journey producer Robin Hunicke to speak at Boston Festival of Indie Games</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/journey-producer-robin-hunicke-to-speak-at-boston-festival-of-in/">Journey producer Robin Hunicke to speak at Boston Festival of Indie Games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 15:00:00 EST. Costco UK is <a href="http://www.costco.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/cos_1,cos_1.2,cos_1.2.4/140490">selling</a> an <a href="http://www.fmcginternational.com/">FMCG International</a> F1 racing simulator for &pound;89,999.89 (including delivery and installation!), or $138,338.83, which is still significantly cheaper than owning an actual Formula 1 car. We also assume it's probably a <em>tiny</em> bit safer and easier to maintain, but that's just a hunch.<br />
<br />
The body is available in "your own choice of colour" and is made out of various combinations of composite materials, alloys and carbon fiber, with real wheels, tyres, chromed-out exhaust tips and <em>everything</em>. There's no engine or transmission, obviously, but it does come with one of those totally awesome detachable steering wheels.<br />
<br />
The gaming portion of the rig is powered by an Intel Core i7, an SSD of unknown capacity, 16 gigs of RAM and a non-specified graphics card outputting to three 23-inch adjustable TFT monitors. Meanwhile, sweet jams are pumped through a 5.1 audio system into both the car's body <em>and</em> your body, since the subwoofer is located directly behind the driver's seat.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/costco-uk-selling-full-size-f1-simulator-for-just-90-000/">Costco UK selling full-size F1 simulator for just £90,000</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 13:30:00 EST. <br />
EA recently provided us with a producer walkthrough video for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-sims-3">The Sims 3</a></em> Island Paradise DLC, an upcoming expansion pack for the game. The DLC takes players to the Isle Paradiso where, as seen in the video, they can cruise on houseboats from port to port.<br />

Players will also get to build their own resort on the island when the expansion launches June 28. Before that, however, <em>The Sims 3</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/11/khaleesi-sims-3-dragon-valley-is-available-may-30/">Dragon Valley</a> world will open on May 30. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-sims-3-island-paradise-5-16-13/">The Sims 3 - Island Paradise (5/16/13)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-sims-3-island-paradise-5-16-13/#5886538"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/ts3islandparadiseoriginexclusive1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-sims-3-island-paradise-5-16-13/#5886539"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/ts3islandparadiseoriginexclusive2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/sims-3-producers-guide-you-through-island-paradise-dlc/">Sims 3 producers guide you through Island Paradise DLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 12:00:00 EST. Next week marks the Steam debut of Humble Heart's XBLA darling, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dust-an-elysian-tail"><em>Dust: An Elysian Tail</em></a>. Dean Dodrill, animator and creator of Dust, took to <a href="https://twitter.com/NoogyTweet/status/335460463863271424">Twitter</a> to announce the May 24 launch date; though there is currently no Steam product page.<br />
<br />
 <em>Dust: An Elysian Tail</em> is a 2D action platformer in the vein of <em>Metroid</em> and <em>Castlevania</em>, featuring beautiful hand-drawn sprites throughout. Aside from being visually appealing, it's also a delight - a game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/20/dust-an-elysian-tail-review-dusting-off-a-classic-formula/">our review</a> said "doesn't do much to innovate the platform-adventure sub-genre, but it does manage to look and play beautifully throughout, and sometimes that's enough."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/dust-an-elysian-tail-scampers-onto-steam-may-24/">Dust: An Elysian Tail scampers onto Steam May 24</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 01:00:00 EST. <br />
The first community-created updated for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/team-fortress-2"><em>Team Fortress 2</em></a> has rolled out: 'Robotic Boogaloo.' Continuing the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/21/team-fortress-2-greets-the-season-with-the-mecha-update/">robot</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/11/mann-vs-machine-update-adds-new-difficulty-settings-and-matchmak/">theme</a> of previous <em>Team Fortress 2</em> updates, Robotic Boogaloo adds 57 new artisanal hats, helmets, bonnets, turbans, crowns, toppers and other headgear - all created by the community.<br />
<br />
Robotic Boogaloo isn't all hats but, naturally, it's <em>mostly hats</em>. Each new <em>Team Fortress 2</em> item can be found within RoboCrates - rare drops after June 3 - that can be opened with a key from the Mann Co. store, each costing $2.50. The revenue from these items will then be shared amongst <a href="http://www.teamfortress.com/roboticboogaloo/credits/">all creators</a> responsible for Robotic Boogaloo content.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/team-fortress-2-robotic-boogaloo-update-tangos-with-steam/">Team Fortress 2 'Robotic Boogaloo' update tangos with Steam</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 23:59:00 EST. Trendy Entertainment's <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dungeon-defenders-2"><em>Dungeon Defenders 2</em></a>, which is split into a tower defense sequel and a MOBA, has begun releasing videos for the latter portion of its DNA. Every Wednesday, the studio will highlight a new character for the player-versus-player mode. First up is the "Man and Machine."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/dungeon-defenders-2-begins-character-profiles-with-man-and-mach/">Dungeon Defenders 2 begins character profiles with 'Man and Machine'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 23:15:00 EST. [Rough translation of the above dialogue: "<i>...whatever.</i>"]<br />
<br />
The ever-sullen Squall and his friends are set to make a high-resolution return, as Famitsu <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/news/201305/16033362.html">reports</a> that Square Enix is developing a remastered PC version of <i>Final Fantasy VIII</i>.<br />
<br />
 <i>Final Fantasy VIII</i> was originally released for the PlayStation in 1999, and PC players saw a no-frills Windows port one year later. News of <i>Final Fantasy VIII</i>'s forthcoming rerelease follows up on last year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/14/final-fantasy-vii-returns-on-pc-for-real-this-time/">upgraded PC port</a> of <i>Final Fantasy VII</i>, which added cloud saving and unlockable achievements. While the new version of <i>Final Fantasy VIII</i> boasts a graphical update, no further details are known, and a release date has not been announced.

Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business Chief of Staff <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/aaron-greenberg/">Aaron Greenberg</a> recently stopped by <a href="http://majornelson.com/cast/2013/05/17/show-476-video-gaming-industry-numbers-and-star-trek-into-darkness/">the Major Nelson podcast</a> to discuss <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/24/xbox-reveal-may-21/">next week's Xbox reveal event</a> and how Microsoft will show its "vision for the future of games."<br />
<br />
"We're really going to tell one story across two events. So we're going to start on the 21st and really that's about revealing the next Xbox platform, really our vision for the future of games, the future of entertainment. We definitely have a lot of surprises planned." Greenberg then specifically called out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-ghosts"><em>Call of Duty: Ghosts</em></a>, which will have its next-generation engine demoed during the Microsoft event.<br />
<br />
"People are going to get a great inside look at really the making of the new platform and the team that's brought it to life," Greenberg added. "I mean, to be honest it's really about the team, the people here. That's why we're inviting people to campus, we're going to bring them behind the scenes a little bit. We've never done this before and so it's really exciting to be able to do that. But I think it's a lot of laying the foundation - probably the best way to describe it - and then just a couple of weeks later we go to E3."<br />
<br />
Greenberg concluded that more will be shown at E3 and after, leading into this holiday season. "E3 is all about the games. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/07/ratchet-and-clank-full-frontal-assault-delayed-for-vita-coming/">once-delayed</a> PlayStation Vita version of Insomniac's hybrid tower defense-action game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ratchet-and-clank-full-frontal-assault"><i>Ratchet &amp; Clank: Full Frontal Assault</i></a> will launch next week as a downloadable PlayStation Network title in <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/05/17/ratchet-clank-full-frontal-assault-updates/">North America</a> and <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/05/17/ratchet-clank-qforce-ps-vita-update-3/">Europe</a>.<br />
<br />
 <i>Full Frontal Assault</i> was originally released as a retail and downloadable PlayStation 3 title back in November, boasting cross-play features with a Vita edition that was subsequently hit with a series of delays. Buyers of the retail version of <i>Full Frontal Assault</i> - and its renamed European counterpart <i>Ratchet &amp; Clank: QForce</i> - will be able to download the Vita edition for free starting May 21 in North America and May 22 in Europe by accessing the game's "Disc Benefits" option.<br />
<br />
Those who purchased <em>Full Frontal Assault</em>'s retail edition will also receive an additional bonus after redeeming the PS Vita version when it launches next week. <i>Ratchet Deadlocked HD</i>, an Idol Minds-developed PlayStation 3 port of the fourth PS2 entry in the Ratchet &amp; Clank series, will be available as a free download for <i>Full Frontal Assault</i> buyers when it launches in the PlayStation Store.<br />
<br />
A release date for <i>Deadlocked HD</i> (also known as <i>Ratchet: Gladiator</i> in Europe) has not been announced.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/ratchet-and-clank-full-frontal-assault-launches-for-ps-vita-next/">Ratchet &amp; Clank: Full Frontal Assault launches for PS Vita next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 19:30:00 EST. Join Joystiq in the streets of Neo-Paris <em>and</em> the intricate pathways of the mind in this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/remember-me"><em>Remember Me</em></a> video preview. Dontnod's memory-focused action game features strategic battle jeans, "remembrane buoys" and even more dubiously named plot devices, if you can believe it.<br />
<br />
 <em>Remember Me</em> launches for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on June 4.

<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/scurvy-scallywags"><em><span class="il">Scurvy</span><span> Scallywags</span></em></a>, the upcoming game from Ron Gilbert and DeathSpank co-creator Clayton Kauzlaric, is a little different from most match-three puzzlers. As we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/19/ron-gilberts-next-game-scurvy-scallywags-is-a-pirate-match-3/">learned in March</a>, players can influence the direction in which the board collapses after making a match. This, in turn, can move their character around the board and allow them to engage in combat with other characters.<br />
<br />
The concept is a bit difficult to put down on paper, so thankfully there's a new trailer! Take note of the end of the video, as we're fairly certain this is the first sea shanty in history to feature a theremin.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/">Scurvy Scallywags</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/#5888642"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/scurvyscallywags-ipad-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/#5888643"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/scurvyscallywags-ipad-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/#5888644"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/scurvyscallywags-ipad-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/#5888645"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/scurvyscallywags-ipad-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/#5888646"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/scurvyscallywags-ipad-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/ron-gilberts-scurvy-scallywags-gets-trailer-screens/">Ron Gilbert's Scurvy Scallywags gets trailer, screens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 18:15:00 EST.  <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/killzone-mercenary"><em>Killzone: Mercenary</em></a>, the upcoming PS Vita installment in Sony's shooter series from Guerrilla Cambridge, has had its release bumped up a week. Previously pegged for a September 17 launch in North America, <em>Killzone: Mercenary</em> is now due on September 10.<br />
<br />
In addition to moving up the date, Sony has revealed some pre-order incentives for <em>Killzone: Mercenary </em>over on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/05/17/grab-killzone-mercenary-a-week-early-pre-order-bonuses-detailed/">PlayStation Blog</a>. The first perk is a 48-hour double XP boost, which spans all in-game contracts, bonuses and payouts. With this morning's revelation that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/ea-has-no-wii-u-games-in-development/">EA does not have any Wii U</a> games in development comes the outright confirmation that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fifa-14"><em>FIFA 14</em></a> will not be appearing on the system as well.<br />
<br />
"Although <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fifa-13"><em>FIFA 13</em></a> on Wii U featured our award-winning HD gameplay and innovative new ways to play, the commercial results were disappointing," an EA representative told Joystiq. "We have decided not to develop <em>FIFA 14</em> on Wii U. We have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for developing FIFA for Nintendo fans in the future."<br />
<br />
The game was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/17/fifa-14-scores-great-goals-on-ps3-xbox-360-pc-fall-2013/">initially announced</a> for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, so while Wii U was never in the picture for the game, it still marks a noticeable absence for a series that launches on every major platform each year. It's not the only EA Sports title to avoid the system, as EA confirmed earlier this month that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/02/no-madden-nfl-football-from-ea-sports-on-wii-u-in-2013/">Madden series will not</a> see a release in 2013 on Wii U either.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/fifa-14-not-coming-to-wii-u-due-to-poor-fifa-13-sales/">FIFA 14 not coming to Wii U due to poor FIFA 13 sales</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 17:15:00 EST. Confirmed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lulzsec">Lulzsec</a> members Ryan Cleary, Jake Davis, Mustafa al-Bassam and Ryan Ackroyd have been sentenced for their part in the great hack of 2011, which saw Lulzsec targeting notable companies such as Sony, EA and Nintendo.<br />
<br />
The four were <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/25/lulzsec-pair-plead-guilty-to-hacking-two-more-deny-charges/">initially charged</a> nearly a year ago. Davis, as leader, was sentenced with two years jailtime, while Cleary was sentenced to 32 months for producing malicious software, Ackroyd for 30 months for his role as press secretary of the group and Al Bassam, who posted the stolen data online, was given a 20-month suspended sentence.<br />
<br />
"The harm they caused was foreseeable, extensive and intended," Andrew Hadik, lawyer for the Crown Prosecution Service told BBC. "Indeed, they boasted of how clever they were with a complete disregard for the impact their actions had on real people's lives. This case should serve as a warning to other cybercriminals that they are not invincible."<br />
<br />
Lulzsec carried out many high-profile hacks in 2011, starting with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/02/sony-pictures-hacked-by-lulz-security-1-000-000-passwords-claim/">the Sony Pictures hack</a> that eventually led to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psn-outage-2011/">a lengthy PSN outage</a>. Lulzsec also attacked <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/06/nintendo-servers-attacked-no-customer-info-stolen/">Nintendo</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/14/lulzsec-attacks-escapist-magazine-eve-online-and-minecraft/"><em>EVE Online</em>, <em>Minecraft</em>, The Escapist</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/27/lulzsec-releases-battlefield-heroes-data/"><em>Battlefield Heroes</em></a> before <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/26/lulzsec-doffs-its-gray-hat-your-games-are-safe-for-now/">calling it quits</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/four-lulzsec-hackers-convicted-in-britain/">Four Lulzsec hackers convicted in Britain</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 16:45:00 EST. Kevin Flynn, who's worked for the last two years as a senior product manager for EA's UK arm, has left to join Activision's UK side as a senior brand manager on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty">Call of Duty</a>. Flynn's previous efforts for EA include <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/31/battlefield-3-secures-top-of-uk-charts/">launching <em>Battlefield 3</em></a> and its subsequent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Battlefield-Premium/">Premium DLC campaigns</a> in the region.<br />
<br />
Flynn enlisted with the Call of Duty<em> </em>squad this month, which we imagine must be <em>the busiest</em> time to sign on for an Activision paycheck. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-ghosts"><em>Call of Duty: Ghosts</em></a> launching on November 5 and next week's <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/pub/kevin-flynn/35/402/254">next-generation engine</a> reveal during the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/24/xbox-reveal-may-21/">Xbox event on May 21</a>, we just hope Mr. Flynn is finding adequate time for his lunch break every day. A hungry worker is not a happy worker!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/ea-product-manager-kevin-flynn-defects-joins-call-of-duty-team/">EA product manager Kevin Flynn defects, joins Call of Duty team</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 16:15:00 EST. <br />
In our 2010 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/19/donkey-kong-country-returns-review/">review of <em>Donkey Kong Country Returns</em></a> for the Wii, our own JC Fletcher admitted a terrible truth: He had used the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/08/super-guide-returns-in-donkey-kong-country-returns/">Super Guide</a>. Nintendo gave us the nefarious innovation a few years ago, ostensibly a tool to help less experienced players navigate the trickier parts of its games. Seasoned players recognized it for what it really was: A taunt, a gently whispering devil on your shoulder.<br />
<br />
Resisting the shiny, candy-like allure of the Super Guide is still a major component of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/donkey-kong-country-returns-3d"><em>Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D</em></a>, Monster Games' 3DS rendition of Retro Studios' Wii platformer. A new difficulty setting tries to soften the Wii version's sharp edges, but the brutal structure of its levels remains intact, and no amount of extra health is going to change that.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/donkey-kong-country-returns-3d-4-6-13/">Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (4/6/13)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/donkey-kong-country-returns-3d-4-6-13/#5794916"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/3dsdonkeykongcountryreturns3d01mediaplayerlarge_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/donkey-kong-country-returns-3d-4-6-13/#5794917"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/3dsdonkeykongcountryreturns3d02mediaplayerlarge_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/donkey-kong-country-returns-3d-4-6-13/#5794918"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/3dsdonkeykongcountryreturns3d03mediaplayerlarge_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/donkey-kong-country-returns-3d-4-6-13/#5794919"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/3dsdonkeykongcountryreturns3d04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/donkey-kong-country-returns-3d-4-6-13/#5794920"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/3dsdonkeykongcountryreturns3d05mediaplayerlarge_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/review-donkey-kong-country-returns-3d/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deja Review: Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/review-donkey-kong-country-returns-3d/">Deja Review: Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 15:45:00 EST. Originally scheduled for June, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-the-legacy-collection"><em>Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection</em></a> will arrive via cardboard boxes to North and South America on July 9, publisher Konami announced this afternoon. The PlayStation 3 exclusive bundle includes Metal Gear Solids (or Metal Gears Solid?) 1-4, <em>Peace Walker</em> and <em>VR Missions</em>. The package is priced at $49.99.<br />
<br />
The bundle also includes two Ashley Wood "digital graphic novels" and the 100-page art book featuring the series' marketing art over the past 25 years. <em>The Legacy Collection</em> was previously dated <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/05/metal-gear-solid-legacy-collection-coming-to-japan-in-july-incl/">July 11 for Japan</a>, and it appears to include the same items now announced for the Americas.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/metal-gear-solid-the-legacy-collection-priced-dated-for-july-i/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection priced, dated for July in Americas</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/metal-gear-solid-the-legacy-collection-priced-dated-for-july-i/">Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection priced, dated for July in Americas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 15:15:00 EST. The results are in, and fans have voted to make Beowolf the fourth new character in Lab Zero Games' little fighter that could, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/skullgirls"><em>Skullgirls</em></a>. An ex pro wrestler, Beowolf and his trusty folding chair (named The Hurting, naturally) have come out of retirement in order to test the true limits of his strength. Being a wrestler and everything, Beowolf's playstyle has been influence by Street Fighter's <a href="http://streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/R._Mika">Rainbow Mika</a> and <a href="http://streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/El_Fuerte">El Fuerte</a>, as well as Tekken's <a href="http://tekken.wikia.com/wiki/King">King</a>.<br />

Beowolf is the fourth new character to be funded by Lab Zero's wildly successful Indiegogo campaign, which raised over $800,000 for DLC production back in March. Three other characters, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/28/skullgirls-reveals-third-crowd-funded-dlc-character-eliza/">Eliza</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/26/skullgirls-150-000-indiegogo-goal-met-in-less-than-24-hours/">Squigly</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/14/skullgirls-secures-funding-for-second-dlc-character-big-band/">Big Band</a>, are also currently in development. Squigly is expected to be the first released, dropping alongside the PC version of the game sometime this summer.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/skullgirls-fourth-new-character-is-beowolf/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Skullgirls' fourth new character is Beowolf</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/skullgirls-fourth-new-character-is-beowolf/">Skullgirls' fourth new character is Beowolf</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 14:45:00 EST. This morning's Nintendo DIrect, hosted by the ever gracious <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/satoru-iwata">Satoru Iwata</a>, covered NIntendo's plans for the summer. The company has another Nintendo Direct planned closer to E3, since it <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/24/nintendo-not-doing-e3-press-conference-holding-smaller-closed-e/">isn't holding a press conference</a> at the mega show. Here's the highlights from this morning:

<ul>
	<li><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/sonic-lost-world-confirmed-for-wii-u-3ds/">Sonic: Lost World</a></em> was confirmed as a Wii U and 3DS exclusive. This comes after yesterday's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/sonic-lost-world-trademarked-domains-registered-by-sega/">trademark, domain registration leaks</a>.</li>
	<li><em>The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages </em>and <em>The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons</em> will be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/zelda-oracle-of-ages-oracle-of-seasons-discounted-for-first-th/">discounted at $4.99</a> for the first three weeks after launch on the Nintendo eShop May 30.</li>
	<li>Mario and Sonic are teaming up again to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/14/mario-sonic-and-profits-in-segas-fiscal-2010/">sell millions of copies</a> in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/mario-and-sonic-winter-games-coming-to-wii-u/">Mario &amp; Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games</a></em>. No release window was given.</li>
	<li><em>Super Luigi U</em> is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/super-luigi/">both downloadable content and a standalone product</a>.</li>
	<li>The <em>Wonderful 101</em> are set to save the Wii U the best they can on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/wonderful-101-arrives-on-wii-u-september-15/">September 15</a> in North America, flying into Europe on August 23.</li>
	<li>Sega's Game Gear lives again with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/more-sega-game-gear-titles-coming-to-virtual-console/">several more games for the 3DS virtual console</a>.</li>
	<li>And, finally, if you can't attend E3, Nintendo will hold special <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/play-unreleased-wii-u-games-at-best-buy-during-e3/">demo sessions of unreleased games at Best Buy</a>. Specific locations will be detailed in the future.</li>

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-last-of-us"><em>The Last of Us</em></a> launches on June 14, simultaneously on Blu-ray and as a download through PSN. Those who choose the latter route on PS3 will find the game playable once the download has reached 50 percent, Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann has told <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/05/16/the-last-of-us-will-release-be-released-digitally-same-day-as-retail.aspx">Game Informer</a>.<br />
<br />
It's our first taste of PS4-esque functionality, just on the PS3 - as you'll recall, one of the major features touted by Sony is the ability to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/20/ps4-allows-playing-games-as-theyre-downloading/">play games as they're downloaded</a>. This is accomplished on the PS4 through the use of hardware dedicated to background downloading and processing.<br />
<br />
 <strong>Update:</strong> This is in regards to the PS3. We've added more clear language to that effect.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/last-of-us-digital-version-playable-when-halfway-downloaded/">Last of Us digital version playable when halfway downloaded [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 13:45:00 EST. Since <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/madden-nfl-25"><em>Madden NFL 25</em></a> <s>skipped 12 years</s> is named to commemorate the series' 25th anniversary, it shouldn't be surprising that EA Sports recently unveiled a special Anniversary Edition. What is a little surprising are the contents of the special edition, which includes a free one-year subscription for DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket service, allowing fans to watch every out-of-market NFL game throughout the season.<br />
<br />
EA Sports tells us that the subscription is limited to the NFL Sunday Ticket computer, tablet and mobile service. Additionally, those who are able to receive DirecTV service in their area can get $10 off per month for the service, which starts at $225, as well as a free subscription to the higher-tier NFL Sunday Ticket MAX.<br />
<br />
The Anniversary Edition of <em>Madden 25</em> is exclusive to Amazon, and limited to 50,000 copies on each of the game's platforms, Xbox 360 and PS3 (100,000 copies total). It will also include complimentary Madden Ultimate Team card packs every week of the NFL's 17-week regular season. <em>Madden 25</em>'s Anniversary Edition is available to pre-order now on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Madden-NFL-25-Xbox-360/dp/B00AY1CT4U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1368810093&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=madden+nfl+25">Amazon</a> for $99.99.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/limited-amazon-exclusive-madden-25-special-edition-includes-free/">Limited Amazon-exclusive Madden 25 special edition includes free Sunday Ticket subscription</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 13:21:00 EST. The former Sony Liverpool devs at Sawfly Studios are bringing <em>Men's Room Mayhem</em> to Vita next week, via PSN. It should arrive on May 21 in North America, although as always with news revealed by the <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/official-playstation-blogcast/id483223024">PlayStation Blogcast</a>, dates can be subject to change.<br />
<br />
If you're curious about the curiously named game, Phil Gaskell from publisher Ripstone describes it as "<em>Flight Control </em>meets <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carry_On_at_Your_Convenience"><em>Carry on at Your Convenience</em></a>." - No, it's not the flight paths of... that stuff, but about getting patrons to where they need to go.<br />
<br />
"In <em>Men's Room Mayhem</em> you're hired as the janitor of your very own chaotic men's room," said Gaskell on the <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/05/02/mens-room-mayhem-enforces-laws-of-the-lav-on-ps-vita-soon/">PlayStation Blog</a>. "You're responsible for directing patrons, keeping everywhere sparkling clean and steering patrons away from trouble! You need to get your customers safely to the urinals and cubicles in time - otherwise there'll be a few nasty accidents for you to clean up!"<br />
<br />
The Blogcast also outed a wee (ahem) bit of other content in next week's PS Store update. A "smattering of DLC" is coming to <em>Aliens: Colonial Marines, </em>although the podcast wasn't any more specific than that<em>. A</em> digital PS3 version of <em>Mugen Souls</em> is also due.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/mens-room-mayhem-hits-psn-next-week-aliens-colonial-marines-d/">Men's Room Mayhem hits PSN next week, Aliens: Colonial Marines DLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 12:45:00 EST.
