Okay, kids, Square Enix has a big announcement, so try to contain your excitement. The company has announced that its <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/0dayattackonearth?q=0%20day%20attack%20on%20earth">critically panned</a>, overpriced <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/xbla">XBLA</a> title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/23/xbla-in-brief-polar-panic-0-day-attack-on-earth/"><em>0 day Attack on Earth</em></a>, is getting its very own overpriced DLC! <br />
<br />
The <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/0ccf0002-0000-4000-8000-0000584109b7?cid=SLink">London Map Pack</a>, laughably priced at 560<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($7), contains new London-based maps, new enemies and a higher difficulty setting. The maps can also be played in the 2-4 player co-op mode but <em><strong>not</strong></em> in the 8 player capture-the-flag or control point modes. Should you wish to buy the map pack, perhaps as some kind of self-flagellating practical joke, it's available on Xbox Live Marketplace now.<br />
<br />
Seriously though, there are many, many <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/22/xbox-live-marketplace-video-game-buyers-guide/">better games</a> to spend those points on.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/14/0-day-attack-on-earth-dlc-on-xbl/">0 Day Attack on Earth DLC on XBL</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 14 Jan 2010 17:15:00 EST. However, they probably aren't games you've been dying to play. You can choose between block-pushing puzzle goodness or alien-blasting action in <em>Polar Panic</em> or <em>0 day Attack on Earth</em>, respectively. <em>Polar Panic</em> will set you back 800<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($10), while <em>0 day Attack on Earth</em> expects 1200 of your hard earned points ($15). As the final shopping days before Christmas begin to fly by, digital gift givers will have one more potential gift from <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a>. That gift is <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/0-day-attack-on-earth"><em>0 Day Attack on Earth</em></a> (at least it is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/14/square-enix-plans-0-day-attack-on-earth-for-dec-23/">according to Square Enix</a>). Quick description: It's a twin-stick shooter that uses real-world satellite imagery for its environments (we suppose that's the "earth" part). For a slightly longer description, you can check out our <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/10/01/hands-on-0-day-attack-on-earth-xbla/">hands-on with the game</a> at the Tokyo Game Show earlier this year. We don't want to spoil it for you, but we walked away less than impressed.<br />
<br />
We'll update this post as soon as Microsoft confirms this week's XBLA title and price.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">Square Enix is swooping in like some kind of Tetsuya Nomura-designed Santa Claus and delivering the world what it wants -- nay, <em>needs</em> -- just in time for the hap-hap-happiest time of the year: a twin-stick shooter for Xbox Live Arcade. Its been <a href="http://twitter.com/0DayAttack/status/6658960102">announced</a> via the game's official Twitter feed that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/0-day-attack-on-earth">0 Day Attack in Earth</a></em> will invade the Xbox Live Marketplace on December 23.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">Like Sony's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-last-guy">The Last Guy</a></em>, <em>0 Day Attack on Earth</em> uses satellite photography for its real-world city battle zones -- only players are tooling around high above the ground blasting ginormous alien invaders with a friend, or just solo. We <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/10/01/hands-on-0-day-attack-on-earth-xbla/">went hands-in with the game</a> at TGS 2009 and found it to be ... well, the verdict's still out <strike>of this world</strike>.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/14/square-enix-plans-0-day-attack-on-earth-for-dec-23/">Square Enix plans '0 Day Attack on Earth' for Dec. 23</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Dec 2009 16:00:00 EST. Hidden in the back of its large TGS booth, Square Enix had three Xbox Live Arcade titles on display last week, one of which was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/0-Day-Attack-on-Earth/" style="font-style: italic;">0 Day Attack on Earth</a>.<br /><br />A twin-stick shooter -- <span style="font-style: italic;">finally!</span> -- <span style="font-style: italic;">0 Day</span> puts players in control of a fighter jet fending off an alien attack. Throw darts at a board littered with game premises and this is where many of them land. The problem isn't that the game mimics the mechanics of so many other titles available on XBLA -- because twin-stick shooters can still be good -- it's that <span style="font-style: italic;">0 Day Attack on Earth</span> just isn't compelling.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/0-day-attack-on-earth-xbla/">0 Day Attack on Earth (XBLA)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/0-day-attack-on-earth-xbla/#2222455"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-08-12_07-31-48_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/0-day-attack-on-earth-xbla/#2222454"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-08-12_07-31-42_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/0-day-attack-on-earth-xbla/#2222453"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-08-12_07-31-26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/0-day-attack-on-earth-xbla/#2222452"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-08-12_07-32-44_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/0-day-attack-on-earth-xbla/#2222451"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-08-12_07-32-28_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/01/hands-on-0-day-attack-on-earth-xbla/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hands-on: 0 Day Attack on Earth (XBLA)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/01/hands-on-0-day-attack-on-earth-xbla/">Hands-on: 0 Day Attack on Earth (XBLA)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Oct 2009 15:15:00 EST. Microsoft's plans for the Far East have always been something of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/31/big-in-japan-xbox-360-cracks-1-million-ps3-just-over-3-million/">murky</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/20/survey-says-xbox-360-leads-in-consumer-satisfaction-in-japan/">science</a>, pea soup made somewhat more clear following the company's recent media conference in Japan. Siliconera reports that the Xbox 360 will play host to a number of high-profile titles in Japan in the months ahead, 31 in all, including <em>Magna Carta 2</em> in August and tri-Ace RPG <em>End of Eternity </em>(sadly not based on the Isaac Asimov novel) in the winter.<br /><br />Japanese gamers will finally get to suit up as a decidedly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/20/mass-effect-2-teaser-gives-grim-fate-to-shepard-and-co/">not dead yet</a> Commander Shepard when the original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mass-effect"><em>Mass Effect</em></a> finally graces Japanese store shelves on May 21, while players will have to wait until later this summer to cure the locust plague in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a>. <br /><br />Another 14 XBLA titles were confirmed at the event, including the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/24/voot-virtual-on-oratorio-tangram-coming-to-xbla/">previously announced</a> remake of mech shooter <em>Virtual On Oratorio Tangram</em>, which will arrive in Japan on April 29. Other notable upcoming downloads include <em>Mega Man 9</em> in June, <em>Space Invaders Extreme</em> this spring and <em>The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match</em> sometime in 2010. And what of Square Enix, which plans fill Japanese XBLA appetites this year with puzzler <em>Yosumin Live</em>, <em>Project Cube</em> and the wonderfully titled<em> 0 Day Attack on Earth</em> (pictured)? Well, we have those trailers for you after the break.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/04/21/this-is-what-microsoft-has-planned-for-japanese-retailers-for-now/">Source</a>: This Is What Microsoft Has Planned For Japanese Retailers For Now<br /><a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/04/21/square-enix-and-snk-blast-announce-xbox-live-arcade-games/">Source</a>: Square Enix And SNK Blast Announce Xbox Live Arcade Games<br /><a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/04/21/watch-some-square-enix-xbox-live-arcade-trailers/">Source</a>: Watch Some Square Enix Xbox Live Arcade Trailers<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/21/microsoft-readying-31-game-barrage-for-japan/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Microsoft readying 31-game barrage for Japan</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/21/microsoft-readying-31-game-barrage-for-japan/">Microsoft readying 31-game barrage for Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Apr 2009 09:25:00 EST.
