According to the announcement, Spark Unlimited's Akrid-drilling sequel is now due August 27 in North America, and August 30 in Europe, for PS3, Xbox, and PC.<br /><br />The last known <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/06/lost-planet-3-orbits-into-na-june-25-eu-june-28/">release dates</a> were June 25 and 28 for North America and Europe, respectively - following a delay out of the "early 2013" release window.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/09/lost-planet-3-delayed-until-august-27-in-na-august-30-in-eu/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Lost Planet 3 delayed until August 27 in NA, August 30 in EU</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/09/lost-planet-3-delayed-until-august-27-in-na-august-30-in-eu/">Lost Planet 3 delayed until August 27 in NA, August 30 in EU</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Apr 2013 11:15:00 EST. This is annoying news for Wii U owners, who already saw it delayed out of the launch window and into <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/07/rayman-legends-out-in-uk-on-march-1/">February and March</a>. But it's good news for PS3 and Xbox owners who had yet to pick up a Wii U, as the game is now planned for simultaneous release on those platforms.<br /><br />Ubisoft Montpellier is developing all three versions. The Wii U game includes significant touchscreen elements, including simultaneous multiplayer between the GamePad and Wii Remote. It'll be interesting to see how, or if, those elements translate to more traditional control schemes.<br /><br />We contacted Ubisoft regarding the Wii U delay. The publisher offered no additional comment.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/07/rayman-legends-delayed-to-september-also-coming-to-xbox-360-and/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rayman Legends delayed to September, also coming to Xbox 360 and PS3</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/07/rayman-legends-delayed-to-september-also-coming-to-xbox-360-and/">Rayman Legends delayed to September, also coming to Xbox 360 and PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Feb 2013 11:14:00 EST. The TVii functionality, exclusive to the US and Canada, puts a TV program guide on the Wii U GamePad, and allows users to use the pad to view and control programming from cable and satellite, along with YouTube and popular video on demand services. Through the Wii U, TVii also allows commenting and sharing via Twitter, Facebook, and Miiverse.<br /><br />Speaking of those video on demand services, don't expect Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, and Netflix to work on day one. Nintendo now says that those services will be available "in the coming weeks."<br /><br />[Thanks, Eric!]<br /><br />Update: Netflix tells <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/16/nintendo-tvii-delayed/">Engadget</a> that its service will be on Wii U "at launch," but won't be part of TVii until Q1 of next year.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/16/wii-u-tvii-delay-december-netflix-hulu-amazon-coming-weeks/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii U's 'TVii' launching in December, video on demand (Netflix, etc) in 'coming weeks' [update]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/16/wii-u-tvii-delay-december-netflix-hulu-amazon-coming-weeks/">Wii U's 'TVii' launching in December, video on demand (Netflix, etc) in 'coming weeks' [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Nov 2012 09:30:00 EST. Take-Two's latest <a href="http://ir.take2games.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=86428&amp;p=irol-newsArticle&amp;ID=1698793&amp;highlight=">earnings report</a> gives the game a "fiscal year 2014" date, which puts it between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014.<br /><br />The previous release window announcement put it in the previous fiscal year - and that announcement was, itself, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/08/xcom-delayed-beyond-q1-2012/">delay</a> from a proposed March 6, 2012 release date. At this point, 2K is racing against science; if engineers of the future develop a method to contact and interact with alien life for real, this game will suddenly seem less exotic.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/xcom-delayed-again-to-fiscal-2014/">XCOM delayed again, beyond Q1 2013</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 May 2012 16:27:00 EST. The Gearbox Software-developed game was previously given a "fall 2012" launch window, and was planned as a Wii U hardware launch title (the game is also planned for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC), though no hard date was ever given before. In fact, despite the February 12 date announcement, the game's Wii U version still doesn't have a date. "A release date for the announced Wii U version will be revealed at a later time," the press release reads.<br /><br />Upset? That's understandable, but Sega's hoping to deflect some of that rage with a new trailer, which we've dropped just above.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/aliens-colonial-marines-delayed-to-february-2013/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Aliens: Colonial Marines delayed to February 2013 on 360/PS3/PC, Wii U date to be revealed later</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/aliens-colonial-marines-delayed-to-february-2013/">Aliens: Colonial Marines delayed to February 2013 on 360/PS3/PC, Wii U date to be revealed later</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 May 2012 09:07:00 EST. Sega sent out a new <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/binary-domain"><em>Binary Domain</em></a> trailer titled "Bigger Than You Think," highlighting the dramatic storyline of the <em>Yakuza</em> team's shooter -- well, it's dramatic if you can get past the conceit of a team of military operatives going on a stealth mission while wearing suits covered in bright red lights.<br />
<br />
Also bigger than you'd previously thought: the wait for <em>Binary Domain</em>. Sega bumped the release date back by two weeks, from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/18/binary-domain-marks-february-14-launch/">February 14 and 17</a> (in North America and Europe) to February 28.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/11/binary-domain-delayed-two-weeks-to-february-28/">Binary Domain delayed two weeks, to February 28</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jan 2012 12:30:00 EST. Tom Clancy's infamous ghosts are returning to consoles on May 22, 2012 in North America and May 24 in Europe, Ubisoft announced this morning. Despite having already given the game an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/03/rumor-ghost-recon-future-soldier-release-date/">early March launch date</a>, it seems that the team is retreating back into the shadows for an extra two months.<br />
<br />
Ubisoft IP development director Adrian Lacey said that, while the game is "feature complete in our multiplayer, singleplayer, and four-player co-op campaign modes," it was pushed out of its original launch "in order to ensure that all these ingredients are pushed to the highest level and provide a truly unique shooter experience." We're just worried, by the time it eventually launches, the "future" part of the title won't apply anymore.<br />
<br />
Additionally, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/20/ghost-recon-future-soldier-beta-deploys-january-2012/">promised January beta</a> is also being delayed, with gamers now able to test the multiplayer modes at some point in April. And the PC version that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/25/ghost-recon-future-soldier-on-pc-replaced-by-ghost-recon-online/">turned into <em>Ghost Recon Online</em></a>? It turns out that was little more than a ruse, and a full PC version of <em>Future Soldier</em> will arrive "at a later date." Which is to say, "after May 22/24."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/10/ghost-recon-future-soldier-launch-delayed-to-may-22-in-na-may/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier launch delayed to May 22 in NA, May 24 in EU; PC version totally exists</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/10/ghost-recon-future-soldier-launch-delayed-to-may-22-in-na-may/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier launch delayed to May 22 in NA, May 24 in EU; PC version totally exists</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 Jan 2012 12:30:00 EST. You may have been getting apprehensive that Nintendo wouldn't deliver the '<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/21/3d-video-recording-other-features-in-november-firmware-update/">November update</a>' for the 3DS's firmware on time. You would have been right to worry! In a brief message on the official site, Nintendo said that the firmware is "in the final stages of internal testing" and is now scheduled for release by December 8.<br />
<br />
The update, when released, will add 3D video recording functionality, new StreetPass games, the 3DS-to-3DS system transfer service, DLC infrastructure, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/27/nintendo-adding-sleep-mode-downloads-to-3ds-eshop-planning-web/">more</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/28/3ds-firmware-update-delayed-will-be-available-by-december-8/">3DS firmware update delayed, will be available 'by December 8'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Nov 2011 22:35:00 EST. Nobody likes to discover that <em>Payday's</em> been moved. The PSN release of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/payday-the-heist"><em>Payday: The Heist</em></a>, the co-op robbery game by Overkill Software, is the subject of a rare release-day delay, bumped from its original date of <em>today</em> to "later in October." According to <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/24240/">Steam</a>, the PC version is also due in "October." We suppose a game with this many masks just gravitates toward Halloween.<br />
<br />
<em>Payday</em> was to be the triumphant pay<em>off</em> of Sony's "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/05/playstation-network-play-is-a-lot-like-summer-of-arcade-start/">PSN Play</a>" promotion, and that offer is still in effect. If you've purchased all of the other PSN Play games, you'll still get your voucher for a free PS3 copy of the game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/04/payday-the-heist-delayed-to-later-this-month/">Payday: The Heist delayed to 'later this month'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Oct 2011 12:01:00 EST. We wondered whether the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/05/playstation-network-play-is-a-lot-like-summer-of-arcade-start/">PSN Play</a>" promotion would lead to timed PS3 exclusivity for any of the games within, and our official answer at this point is "yes and no." <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/bloodrayne-betrayal"><em>BloodRayne Betrayal</em></a> was originally due at the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/14/bloodrayne-betrayal-launching-in-the-last-week-of-august/">end of August</a> on both PSN and XBLA; it's now due September 6 on PSN. Majesco informed Joystiq that the XBLA version has been bumped to October 5, though the publisher didn't say outright that the Sony deal was the reason.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-3-third-strike-online-edition"><em>Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition</em></a>, however, won't have its release date bumped on either platform as a result of the promotion. Capcom confirmed on <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/lunch/blog/2011/08/05/street_fighter_iii_online_edition_is_coming_to_psn_play">Unity</a> that the game is still set for August 23 on PSN and August 24 on XBLA. We have inquiries in with the rest of the PSN Play publishers, and we'll update when we hear back.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Sega tells Joystiq that <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/renegade-ops"><em>Renegade Ops</em></a> is still due for a multiplatform release in September.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/05/bloodrayne-xbla-delayed-until-oct-5-sf3-still-on-time/">BloodRayne XBLA delayed until Oct. 5, SF3 still on time [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 05 Aug 2011 14:31:00 EST. Hey, Jackie boy. <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/the-darkness-2">The Darkness 2</a></em> has been delayed until 2012, with 2K Games announcing new launch dates for both the console and PC versions of February 7 and 10 for North America and Europe, respectively. The sequel was originally <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/04/the-darkness-2-emerges-from-the-shadows-october-4/">scheduled for this October</a>.<br />
<br />
If you're attending Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend, there will be eight playable demo kiosks of <em>The Darkness 2</em> at the Top Cow booth (#2629). There will also be a "Spreading <i>The Darkness:</i> From Comic Book to Video Games and Entertainment" panel on July 21 at noon in Room 9 of the convention center, featuring the co-creator of <em>The Darkness</em> comic, along with talent from the game. No word on whether or not the actual Darkness will show up and eviscerate the audience, but we're going to recommend keeping your distance just in case. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/19/the-darkness-2-delayed-until-february-2012/">The Darkness 2 delayed until February 2012, making an appearance at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Jul 2011 17:00:00 EST. Your faith in the official North American release date for <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/el-shaddai-ascension-of-the-metatron"><em>El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron</em></a> is about to be shaken. Ignition Entertainment's New Business Development Director Shane Bettenhausen confirmed the shift in date from July 26 to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/16/retailer-sites-show-new-august-date-for-el-shaddai/">August 16</a> in a statement to Joystiq, citing "unforeseen logistical issues." The September 1 release in Europe is still on track. Bettenhausen apologized for the "minor delay."<br />
<br />
Looking on the bright side (which is bright only for us), we suddenly find ourselves with much more time to complete our review, which is nice. For us.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/18/el-shaddai-officially-delayed-until-august-16/">El Shaddai officially delayed until August 16</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Jul 2011 17:15:00 EST. What's the opposite of "Huzzah"? <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/cave-story-3d"><em>Cave Story 3D</em></a>, Nicalis's radical reinterpretation of the indie classic, won't make its appointed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/29/cave-story-3d-dated-once-again-coming-august-9/">August 9</a> release date. Publisher NIS America confirmed to Joystiq today that the 3DS remake has been pushed back to November, putting its official release date in line with the date on <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-3ds/games/cave-story-3d/90890">GameStop's website</a>.<br />
<br />
An NIS rep told us that the company would offer more detail about the delay in a press release, expected today. In the meantime, we suggest ameliorating the wait for <em>Cave Story</em> with ... the other version of <em>Cave Story,</em> on DSiWare or WiiWare. You know, to get you ready for <em>Cave Story (3D)</em>.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cave-story-3d-6-28/">Cave Story 3D (6/28)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cave-story-3d-6-28/#4256714"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/cs3d1_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cave-story-3d-6-28/#4256715"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/cs3d2_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cave-story-3d-6-28/#4256716"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/cs3d3_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cave-story-3d-6-28/#4256717"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/cs3d4_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cave-story-3d-6-28/#4256718"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/cs3d5_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />

<strong>Update:</strong> the press release is after the break, specifying a November 8 release. More like <em>Spec Ops: The Wait</em>, am I right?<br />
<br />
Much like that joke should have been, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/spec-ops-the-line"><em>Spec Ops: The Line</em></a> has been pushed back way, way, deep undercover -- like, first half of Take-Two's fiscal 2013 deep -- as revealed in the publisher's earnings report today. For the fiscally challenged among you, that means the game won't appear on store shelves until after March 2012 at the very earliest (it's been pitched into an April-September 2012 release window).<br />
<br />
Oddly, the game was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/16/spec-ops-the-line-beta-sends-out-more-invites/">in beta</a> as of last fall, so we can only imagine whatever's happening now is a <em>significant</em> overhaul.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/24/spec-ops-the-line-delayed-beyond-march-2012/">Spec Ops: The Line delayed beyond March 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 May 2011 17:19:00 EST. The 3DS firmware update adding the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/eshop">eShop</a>, DSiWare transfer, web browser, and other features, was originally scheduled to be released in "late May." A <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/support/update/index.html">note</a> on Nintendo of Japan's website reveals that it's going to be released <em>so</em> late in May that it'll actually be June by the time it arrives.<br />
<br />
June 7 is now the official date for the firmware update, in Japan at least. That happens to coincide with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/09/nintendos-e3-conference-set-for-june-7/">Nintendo's E3 presentation</a>, so we're now expecting that to be the worldwide release date, so Nintendo can make a dramatic reveal on stage. We're checking with Nintendo, in any case.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> The update will come to North America "the evening of June 6 Pacific time," according to <a href="http://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail/6ANlirylYehWRAOQn_i0e53E0XtWMk4s">Nintendo's website</a>. Thanks to <a href="http://twitter.com/DonaldMick/status/68543911496384512">Donald</a> for spotting that.<br />

On Sunday, Sony <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/01/some-psn-services-to-return-this-week-full-services-within-thi/">announced</a> that "some" <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/psn">PSN</a> services, including online play, would come back this week. With very little of this week remaining, you might be wondering if it's still going to happen. Well, it isn't.<br />
<br />
In an update on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/06/service-restoration-update/">PlayStation Blog</a>, Sony's Patrick Seybold passes along the bad news that service renewal has been delayed to an unspecified time. "When we held the press conference in Japan last week," Seybold said, "based on what we knew, we expected to have the services online within a week. We were unaware of the extent of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/02/sony-hit-with-second-attack-loses-12-700-credit-card-nu/">attack</a> on Sony Online Entertainment servers, and we are taking this opportunity to conduct further testing of the incredibly complex system." He didn't flat out say this week is out of the question, but that's definitely the implication.<br />
<br />
Seybold apologized for the delay. To those of us (all of us) waiting to get back to our online services, he said "trust me when I say we're doing everything we can to make it happen."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/06/psn-reactivation-delayed-for-further-testing-not-coming-back/">PSN reactivation delayed for 'further testing,' likely not coming back this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 May 2011 23:45:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mass-effect-3"><em>Mass Effect 3</em></a> will arrive later than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/13/mass-effect-3-launching-on-pc-ps3-and-360-simultaneously/">expected</a>, BioWare has announced. A nebulous new release date is to be found somewhere within "the first three months of 2012."<br />
<br />
Executive producer Casey Hudson addressed fans on the game's official forums, writing, "The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone's expectations." A new Shepard team photo was sent out alongside the announcement, but don't take those heroic and steadfast poses as conciliation. (It's clear only one of them is Asari.)<br />
<br />
Before you storm off to Twitter and document 2011's ruination, we ought to point out that there's some relief to be found in this news. When we last consulted the office's crystal ball and requested a peek at our prestigious Game of the Year 2011 award ceremonies, we were greeted by a gruesome portent: a bloodied, pockmarked urban battlefield littered with expired game critics, internet commenters, torn N7 hoodies and ... spongy <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/portal-2">cake</a> detritus. Perhaps this is for the best.

Sony has put the brakes on the North American release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/motorstorm-apocalypse"><em>MotorStorm Apocalypse</em></a>, delaying the game indefinitely in the wake of last week's devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The delay, announced on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/03/18/motorstorm-apocalypse-release-update/">PlayStation Blog</a>, doesn't exactly come as a surprise, given that the title's launch had previously been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/14/yakuza-of-the-end-motorstorm-apocalypse-delayed-in-japan-dis/">postponed in Japan</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/15/motorstorm-apocalypse-launch-postponed-in-uk/">the UK</a>.<br />
<br />
Set in an earthquake-ravaged costal city, the Evolution Studios developed racer had been scheduled for release on April 12. Sony told Joystiq earlier this week that the date still stood. When contacted today, SCEA confirmed the delay and added that there is "no new date at the moment." <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/18/motorstorm-apocalypse-delayed-indefinitely-in-north-america/">MotorStorm Apocalypse delayed indefinitely in North America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Mar 2011 14:22:00 EST. Take-Two has updated its release calendar in coordination with the publication of its <a href="http://ir.take2games.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=86428&amp;p=irol-newsArticle&amp;ID=1526569&amp;highlight">lastest financial report</a>. Most of the entries aren't too surprising, including already known release dates and windows for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/la-noire">LA Noire</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/duke-nukem-forever">Duke Nukem Forever</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/bioshock-infinite">BioShock Infinite</a></em> -- however, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/xcom">XCOM</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/spec-ops-the-line">Spec Ops: The Line</a></em>, both of which were <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/11/xcom-spec-ops-the-line-opt-for-2011-release/">formerly scheduled</a> for this calendar year, are now listed as "Fiscal Year 2012" (April 2011 - March 2012) releases. That means they could still both arrive this year -- Strauss willing and the creek don't rise -- but the publisher has opened up the possiblity for delays to the first quarter of 2012.<br />
<br />
Also, <em>Max Payne 3</em> has again failed to make an appearance on Take Two's release calendar. When this happened last December, Take Two was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/17/max-payne-3-not-dead-presumably-trapped-in-bullet-time/">quick to reassure fans</a> that the title was still in development. We have our fingers crossed for a similar assurance in the company's conference call, which is due to start any minute.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> During the Q&amp;A portion of the investor's call, Take-Two CFO Lainie Goldstein spoke about the fate of Max Payne 3, saying, "There is no update on that title at this time." That's a <em>really not great</em> answer. We've emailed other Take-Two contacts in search of something more concrete. <br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/08/xcom-spec-ops-listed-for-fiscal-2012-release-max-payne-3-not-l/">XCOM, Spec Ops listed for fiscal 2012 release, Max Payne 3 not listed at all (again) [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 Feb 2011 16:35:00 EST. During THQ's investor call today, president and CEO Brian Farrell repositioned <em>Homefront's</em> launch from March 8 to March 15. A THQ rep confirmed the delay to Joystiq, saying, "We moved our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/homefront/"><em>Homefront</em></a> launch date by one week to March 15." <br />
<br />
No specific reason was given for the move, but the launches of <em>Pokemon Black </em>&amp;<em> White</em> and <em>Dragon Age 2</em> on March 8 go a long way in explaining it. The rest of THQ's statement seems to reflect our supposition: "We think we have a great opportunity to dominate retail on this date." Tell that to <em>Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's World Championship 2011: Over the Nexus</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/02/homefront-arriving-one-week-late-on-march-15/">Homefront arriving one week late on March 15</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Feb 2011 17:55:00 EST. According to THQ's Fiscal 2011 third quarter report, the forthcoming motion-centric title <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ufc-trainer">UFC Personal Trainer</a></em> has been moved out of the company's "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/12/ufc-personal-trainer-due-in-europe-this-april/">March quarter</a>" launch window and "into fiscal 2012" (starting April 1, 2011). A press release noted that the company's new financial projections, as mentioned <a href="http://investor.thq.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=96376&amp;p=irol-newsArticle&amp;ID=1523470&amp;highlight">in the report</a>, are a reflection of "the move of <em>UFC Personal Trainer</em> into fiscal 2012." <br />
<br />
During a financial call directly after the release, company prez and CEO Brian Farrell pins the game for a June release. Plenty of time to build that octagon in your living room!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/02/ufc-trainer-grappling-with-delays-launching-in-june/">UFC Trainer grappling with delays, launching in June</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Feb 2011 17:45:00 EST. Looks like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Fear-3/"><em>F.E.A.R. 3</em></a> needs a few more months of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/17/seen-e3-one-ugly-mother/">gestation</a>. Previously announced for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/29/fear-3-release-date-march-22-2011/">March 22, 2011</a>, Joystiq has confirmed with a Warner Bros. representative that those looking for supernatural pregnancy scares will have to wait until May. So far, <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;jsessionid=5163A234D34BF33A5382327A621D3461.bbolsp-app05-10?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&amp;_dynSessConf=-6009603809256944067&amp;id=pcat17071&amp;type=page&amp;st=fear+3&amp;sc=Global&amp;cp=1&amp;nrp=15&amp;sp=&amp;qp=&amp;list=n&amp;iht=y&amp;usc=All+Categories&amp;ks=960">Best Buy</a> is the only major retailer reflecting the change.<br />

"Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier and Driver: San Francisco, which were previously planned for release in the fourth fiscal quarter, will now be included in the 2011-12 line-up," the report notes. Ubisoft's fourth fiscal quarter runs from January through the end of March 2011, putting the releases of both games somewhere in April 2011 or later. <br />

Both<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/12/driver-san-francisco-slides-into-early-2011/">Driver</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/18/ghost-recon-future-soldier-delayed-into-march-quarter-2011/">Ghost Recon</a></em> had already been delayed <em>into</em> the previous "early 2011" timeframe, making this the second announced delay for both titles. At this rate, Ubisoft is going to have to change <em>Ghost Recon</em>'s title to "Ghost Recon: Soldier."<br />

No, it's not a joke. <em>Gran Turismo 5</em> has lost its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/15/gran-turismo-5-coming-november-2-seriously/">November 2nd</a> release date. While there's no date set for the repeatedly delayed PlayStation 3 racing game, the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/10/13/gran-turismo-5-release-update/">PlayStation.Blog</a> still pegs it as a "holiday season" game. <br />
<br />
It appears the delay is global, as the <a href="http://www.jp.playstation.com/info/release/nr_20101013_gt5.html">Japanese site</a> also features an apology for the delay. Presumably, Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi wanted to add just <em>one more</em> feature to the game: breaking your heart.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/13/gran-turismo-5-delayed-still-coming-this-holiday-season/">Gran Turismo 5 delayed, still coming 'this holiday season'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 Oct 2010 10:42:00 EST. Or, in comic book terms, SOE rebooted the universe, creating a reality where the game was always going to be released in early 2011. "As the game heads into external beta testing, this extra time will allow us to address community feedback in a meaningful way," SOE president John Smedley said. "When we get deeper into external beta, we'll be able to share more information regarding the new launch date."<br />
<br />
There's sort of good news if you still want to spend your November (or at least part of it) playing DCUO. If you've already pre-ordered, or if you do so before November 15, you'll be "assured access to the beta by November 30 (North America only)." If you miss that deadline, you'll get access a week before launch, and you'll get to take part in the "Battle of the Legends" event at the end of beta, along with the other people who will have had months to get way, way better than you.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/04/dc-universe-online-delayed-until-spring-2011/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>DC Universe Online delayed until spring 2011</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/04/dc-universe-online-delayed-until-spring-2011/">DC Universe Online delayed until spring 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 04 Oct 2010 14:15:00 EST. It's begun. As was the case earlier this year, next year's Spring lineup is densely packed with high-profile games. As such, the inevitable migration to the holiday season begins with Microsoft's announcement that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Gears-of-War-3/"><em>Gears of War 3</em></a> - one third of its blockbuster trifecta at this year's E3 - will be relocated from its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/13/gears-of-war-3-dated-april-5-2011/">already announced April 5, 2011 release</a> to later in the year. "The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the Spring of 2011," a statement released by Microsoft said. "However, we've elected to move the launch of <em>Gears of War 3</em> until Fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season."<br />
<br />
The move is ostensibly designed to better position the third installment in the pachydude simulator and, we imagine, pad out Microsoft's holiday 2011 releases. That doesn't leave a lot of room for E3 surprises if <em>Gears 3</em> is the Xbox's "marquee title" for the 2011 holiday season. No bother, we're still holding out for that <em>Blinx: The Time Sweeper</em> HD update.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/01/gears-of-war-3-delayed/">Gears of War 3 bumped from April 2011 to 'holiday season' next year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Oct 2010 09:00:00 EST. There are no doubt some distraught PS3 gamers wondering where their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/05/assassins-creed-brotherhood-beta-leaping-to-psn-sept-13/">promised</a> <em>Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood</em> beta is today. Sorry, it's not coming: An Ubisoft representative has confirmed with Joystiq that the beta has been pushed back, though the company couldn't offer us an exact date for when it'd be available. More info is supposedly coming "later this week." <br />
<br />
With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/09/assassins-creed-brotherhood-pc-delayed-until-2011-euro-beta-o/">the European date</a> for the beta being October 4, it's likely Ubisoft will announce the beta is worldwide, instead of regional. Who's taking bets?<br />
<br />
<strong>Update: </strong>We guess "later this week" was code for later today! <a href="http://twitter.com/UbiGabe/status/24410352220">@UbiGabe</a> has confirmed that October 4 is the new date for the PS3 beta for all territories and PSN codes will be mailed out that morning. Better start sharpening those wrist-mounted blades!<br />

We all saw it coming from down Wilshire and up the PCH: <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/la-noire">L.A. Noire</a></em> has been officially delayed until "the first half of calendar 2011." The announcement was made in Take-Two Interactive's <a href="http://ir.take2games.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=86428&amp;p=irol-newsArticle&amp;ID=1466545&amp;highlight=">Q3 earnings release</a>. <em>Noire</em> now joins <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/08/max-payne-3-delayed-beyond-october/"><em>Max Payne 3</em></a> as another major delayed game warming the 2011 bench, while <em>Red Dead Redemption</em>, <em>Mafia 2 </em>and <em>Civilization 5</em> bring in the bucks.<br />
<br />
<em>L.A. Noire</em>'s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/26/psa-la-noire-still-expected-this-year-officially/">delay became apparent</a> after the title made it into some magazine pieces earlier this year with a pre-October release, and then failed to show up at any of the major video game conventions.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/la-noire-officially-delayed-to-first-half-of-2011/">LA Noire officially delayed to first half of 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Sep 2010 16:10:00 EST. Crytek's apocalyptic FPS appears to have slipped into next year. Although <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/08/crysis-2-sims-3-on-consoles-nba-jam-due-holiday-2010/">previously planned</a> as a "holiday" release (Q4 2010), EA's latest financial report places <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/crysis-2"><em>Crysis 2</em></a> in the first quarter of 2011 (January-March). Barring any further changes, <em>Crysis 2</em> joins a rather crowded lineup for early 2011, including EA's own <em>Dead Space 2</em>, <em>Bulletstorm</em>, <em>Darkspore</em>, <em>Fight Night Champion</em>, and the newly confirmed <em>Need for Speed: Shift 2</em>. It appears <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/q1-2011">next year's first quarter</a> will be just as hectic as this year's was.<br />
<br />
EA may offer further insight into the delay during its investor call, happening now. Though Ubisoft never <em>officially</em> declared a release window for upcoming <em>Driver</em> reboot, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/driver-san-francisco"><em>Driver: San Francisco</em></a>, it appears that the title has been pushed back to early 2011. The company declared as much in today's <a href="http://www.ubisoftgroup.com/index.php?p=59&amp;art_id=60&amp;vars=c2VuZGVyPU9ORSZzZW5kZXJfdXJsPWluZGV4LnBocCUzRnAlM0Q4MiUyNmFydF9pZCUzRCZjb21faWQ9Nzc5JmZpbHRlcl90eXBlPSZmaWx0ZXJfbW9udGg9JmZpbHRlcl95ZWFyPQ%3D%3D">estimated earnings report</a>, citing "the competitive market at Christmas" as the reason for the apparent delay. <em>Driver: San Francisco</em> is now scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2011 (January-March).<br />
<br />
It looks like we're headed for a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/release-date,q1-2011">busy first quarter</a> of games in the coming year -- and for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/12/video-game-release-date-calendar-q1-q2-2010/">second year in a row</a>. Nope, you're never, ever, ever gonna catch up on that backlog. <em>Ever</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/12/driver-san-francisco-slides-into-early-2011/">Driver: San Francisco slides into early 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Jul 2010 12:22:00 EST. How much time does <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dead-rising-2">Dead Rising 2</a></em> developer Blue Castle Games need to get its upcoming zombie apocalypse sim ready for consumption by the living? At least one month, it seems, as the game's North American release date has been pushed back to September 28 (from a previously stated <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/11/dead-rising-2-in-us-aug-31-shambles-to-japan-and-europe-l/">late August release</a>). Capcom sent over word this morning of the delay, oddly pointing out that it's "happy to confirm" as much.<br />
<br />
No explanation of the delay was offered (we're asking!), though we suspect Blue Castle probably had to re-articulate the limb separator subroutines and upscale the procedural chainsaw collision detection ... matrix. It's <em>technical stuff</em>, you wouldn't understand.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/28/dead-rising-2-release-date-a-shambles-delayed-to-sept-28/">Dead Rising 2 release date a shambles, delayed to Sept. 28</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Jun 2010 09:16:00 EST. Well, a "winner." Back in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/03/take-two-may-delay-major-2010-release/">March</a>, Take-Two named four titles: <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/max-payne-3">Max Payne 3</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/mafia-2">Mafia II</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/la-noire">L.A. Noire</a></em>, and <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/civilization-5">Civilization V</a></em>, and floated the possibility that one of them would be delayed out of fiscal 2010 (which ends October 31). Today, the publisher revealed that the near-illusory <em>Max Payne 3</em>, which had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/03/max-payne-3-delayed-to-late-2010/">already</a> faced a delay, was the one.<br />
<br />
No further specifics about the delay were revealed in the company's <a href="http://ir.take2games.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=477523">earnings release</a>, but Take-Two affirmed that the other three titles are still on track. <em>Mafia II </em>currently has a release date of August 24, and <em>L.A. Noire</em> and <em>Civ V</em> are set to be released in the fiscal fourth quarter -- which means they should be out by the end of October. Though, just because <em>Max Payne</em> took the (slow-motion) delay bullet this time doesn't mean the other games are entirely safe.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Take-Two CEO Ben Feder addressed the delay in a related investor call. "While we do not take the movement of any title lightly, our recent success with <em>Red Dead Redemption</em> illustrates the importance and the benefit of giving a title the time it needs in order to fulfill its potential in the marketplace," he explained. "The team at Rockstar is focused on making this the best experience in interactive entertainment."<br />

First for the kind of bad news: it's been delayed from its original "summer" release to "late 2010." <br />
<br />
"The additional time will allow the Development Team to focus on ensuring overall high-quality throughout the game by continuing to tune, balance, and maintain the kind of polish that an important title like this demands," the press release reads, "and ultimately providing fans with an unrivalled classic Sonic feel."<br />
<br />
The other news: as many <a href="http://www.tuaw.com/2010/02/05/sonic-4-coming-to-the-iphone-ipad/">suspected</a>, the downloadable game will be released not only on PSN, XBLA and WiiWare, but for the iPhone / iPod Touch as well. You'll have the choice of portability or buttons!<br />

This is how it all starts, folks. In <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/18/ubisoft-reports-76-2-million-operating-loss-in-fiscal-year-2009/">today's Ubisoft investor's briefing</a>, CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghost-recon-future-soldier"><em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em></a> has been pushed from its initial Holiday 2010 launch window. "Due to a very competitive environment, we decided to move the game out of the Christmas quarter, and into the March quarter," Guillemot explained. "It will also provide additional time to our development teams to realize their vision," he added.<br />
<br />
We don't know about you guys, but we're <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/30/capcom-delays-dark-void-into-2010-avoids-crowded-fall-game-sea/">flashing back to last year</a>, when every release in November and December was pushed back a few months for those very reasons. If you're hoping to check out <em>Future Soldier</em> in the foreseeable future, you better make your way to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/e3-2010">E3 2010</a>, where the game will be showcased to the public for the very first time.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/18/ghost-recon-future-soldier-delayed-into-march-quarter-2011/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier delayed into 'March quarter' 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 May 2010 13:20:00 EST. With just over 24 hours to go before the target month of April expires and Valve - no stranger to <a href="http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time">a pushed release date</a> - misses its announced release window for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Steam-Mac/">Steam for Mac</a>, the developer <em>slash</em> platform provider has sent over the following terse release: "Valve today announced the public release of Steam for the Mac is May 12. Please stay tuned for more information."<br />
<br />
And that's it. That's less than two weeks away by our count, which isn't so bad when you think about it. Why, when we were kids, a Valve delay meant at least a year! You young folk have it easy.<br />

Nintendo just announced delays for the North American releases of both <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/sin-and-punishment-star-successor"><em>Sin &amp; Punishment: Star Successor</em></a> and <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/metroid-other-m">Metroid: Other M</a></em>. <br />
<br />
<em>Sin &amp; Punishment</em> has been pushed back from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/24/sin-and-punishment-star-successor-june-7-release-date/">June 7</a> to June 27 -- a brief delay. The Team Ninja/Nintendo <em>Metroid</em> sequel, however, has been bumped more substantially, from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/24/metroid-other-m-june-27-release-date/">June 27</a> to August 31. We should have known the June date was too good to be true when all Europe got was a vague <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/25/mario-metroid-sin-and-punishment-more-dated-in-europe/">"Q3" announcement</a>.<br />

If you've waited this long for <em>Episodes from Liberty City</em>, another two weeks shouldn't hurt, right? Rockstar Games has pushed back the PS3 and PC releases of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/29/gta-episodes-from-liberty-city-on-ps3-pc-march-30/">long-awaited</a> <em>Grand Theft Auto IV</em> expansions by two weeks due to "a request by Sony Europe to make some minor content changes to the PAL PS3 version of the game." According to the press release, "the minor changes made to the game will not affect the gamers enjoyment of the games, these will not affect any gameplay elements and were not related to any local ratings requirements."<br />
<br />
All versions of the add-ons -- including the downloadable episodes "The Lost &amp; Damned" and "The Ballad of Gay Tony" -- have been delayed to April 13th for North America, and April 16th for all other countries. A Rockstar Games <a href="http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/2010/03/18/4061/episodes_from_liberty_city_now_coming_to_playstation_3_and_pc_this_april">blog post</a> further elaborated on the decision to do a global delay, ensuring that "everyone can experience multiplayer simultaneously, take part in online events together, be on level ground on leaderboards, etc."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/18/gta-episodes-from-liberty-city-for-pc-ps3-delayed-two-weeks-du/">GTA: Episodes From Liberty City for PC, PS3 delayed two weeks due to 'minor content changes'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Mar 2010 17:45:00 EST. "<em>L.A. Noire, Mafia II, Max Payne 3</em> and <em>Sid Meier's Civilization V</em> are all planned for release in the fourth fiscal quarter [August-October, 2010]," the announcement confirms, "however, the Company's fiscal year 2010 guidance reflects the potential movement of one of these titles into fiscal 2011 [beginning November 1, 2010]." If Take-Two is already adjusting its financial estimates based on one of these titles being delayed, it sounds like more than just <em>potential</em>.<br />
<br />
Folks have been waiting a long time for pretty much all of these games. <em>Max Payne 3</em> was already moved from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/max-payne-3-coming-to-xbox-360-ps3-pc-this-winter/">winter 2009</a> to "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/03/max-payne-3-delayed-to-late-2010/">late 2010</a>"; <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/la-noire"><em>L.A. Noire</em></a> has just been given a expected September date after an extraordinarily lengthy development time; and the very fact that <em>Mafia II</em> is said to release between August 1 and October 31 <em>already </em>represents a delay from its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/17/mafia-2-coming-before-july-31-2010/">last known release window</a>. That leaves <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/18/sid-meiers-civilization-v-coming-to-pc-this-fall/"><em>Civilization V</em></a>, which was just announced two weeks ago, and thus hasn't had time to be delayed yet. This could be its first, people!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/03/take-two-may-delay-major-2010-release/">Take-Two may delay major 2010 release; L.A.
