Molyneux said the projects are "very very different, unusual, I think very intriguing things," probably because that's his <em>thing</em>. During a talk at Imperial College London's GaME12 event, Molyneux provided a vague vision for the direction of his studio, saying he wants to use current technology in ways no one else has, and sharing the following idea:<br /><br />"I love this one thought, and I have experimented with this in previous games, that you find out more about yourself while being engaged with this experience than [you would] with anything else. And we all love finding out about ourselves - whether it's through personality tests, or someone turning around to you and saying X, Y and Z."<br /><br />We look forward to a seriously introspective game of 22 Questions starting in six weeks.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/23/molyneux-22-cans-conducting-22-experiments-first-one-due-in/">Molyneux: 22 Cans conducting '22 Experiments,' first one due in 6 weeks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 May 2012 22:00:00 EST. Welcome to <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/snapshot">Snapshot</a>, where we highlight games that might fall outside our usual coverage but are still something we think you should know about. Today: <i>Sorcery</i> for PS3.</small></font></div><hr /><center> <img alt="Image" height="298" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/sorcery523.jpg" style="margin: 4px; " width="530" /></center>Having been announced along with the PlayStation Move in 2010, <em>Sorcery</em> bears the burden of high expectations. This was supposed to be the game that showed what the Move could add to a non-party, non-minigame, and full-sized adventure in which your Move wand enabled you to fire magic bolts in any direction.<br /><br />It is, of course, unfair to judge the game by the expectations around its announcement. Such lofty circumstances make an enjoyable, if lightweight, game seem more disappointing.<br /><br />However, I will say that if <em>Sorcery</em> is to act as a Move ambassador, it is not up to the task. While there were certainly times I didn't mind using the motion controller, there were precious few times I was <em>glad</em> to; my experience aiming the in-game magic wand was, in equal parts, hitting the target accurately, flailing uselessly, and recalibrating.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/23/snapshot-sorcery/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Snapshot: Sorcery</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/23/snapshot-sorcery/">Snapshot: Sorcery</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 May 2012 17:30:00 EST. Ok, we had more than a few issues, calling it "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/dragons-dogma-review/">50 or so hours of mundane drudgery</a>" in our review. That doesn't mean our opinion is the only one that matters. There's a whole internet out there with glowing reviews. Maybe not "glowing," but certainly more accepting.</div> </div></div><ul> <li> <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/games/dragons_dogma/b/xbox360/archive/2012/05/18/capcom-delivers-an-open-world-worth-exploring.aspx">Game Informer</a> (<span style="font-weight: bold;">85</span><strong>/100</strong>): "Combat feels like a necessary part of the game's design, rather than something that was begrudgingly added to provide interaction between cutscenes. I left the game feeling that I made my mark on Gransys the way I chose to, instead of being escorted from plot point to plot point. When you're talking about an open-world game, I can't think of higher praise."</li> <li> <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/review-dragon-s-dogma-227595.phtml">Destructoid</a> (<span style="font-weight: bold;">75</span><strong>/100</strong>): "Should you play <em>Dragon's Dogma</em>? Yes. The high points are so very worth getting to, and while the main game will be cleared in a number of hours, there are lots of monsters to battle and a dose of end-game content to clear, providing more than enough to rival the <em>Skyrim</em>s and <em>Diablo</em>s of the world."</li> <li> <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-05-18-dragons-dogma-review">Eurogamer</a> (<span style="font-weight: bold;">70</span><strong>/100</strong>): "Expectedly, coming as it does from an action game developer, its jewels are to be found in the dynamic combat, stat-tweaking party-building and defining boss battles. In this way, the game echoes the adventurous, dragon-hunting spirit of its (second- and third-hand) literary influences: that sense of unpredictable peril that could be lurking in every cave and thicket. "</li> <li> <a href="http://www.oxmonline.com/dragons-dogma-review">OXM</a> (<span style="font-weight: bold;">60</span><strong>/100</strong>): "<em>Dragon's Dogma </em>has its merits, but for every great idea there's a design fumble that just leaves you scratching your head. Though it's technically sound, the game lacks the spark to elevate it beyond a "sometimes fun, mostly mediocre" experience. Much like the main character's chest cavity, this RPG ultimately feels hollow, with no real heart."</li></ul><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-the-ur-dragon/">Dragon's Dogma (The Ur-Dragon)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-the-ur-dragon/#5014039"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/dragonsdogmaur-dragon03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-the-ur-dragon/#5014042"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/dragonsdogmaur-dragon04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-the-ur-dragon/#5014043"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/dragonsdogmaur-dragon05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-the-ur-dragon/#5014044"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/dragonsdogmaur-dragon06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-the-ur-dragon/#5014045"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/dragonsdogmaur-dragon07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/23/metareview-dragons-dogma/">Metareview: Dragon's Dogma</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 May 2012 17:00:00 EST. After an illustrious career at Capcom during which he designed the <em>Ghosts 'n Goblins</em> games and produced the <em>Mega Man</em> series, Tokuro Fujiwara founded his own studio, Whoopee Camp, where he directed <em>Tomba!</em> and its sequel for publisher Sony Computer Entertainment.<br /><br />"Sony and MonkeyPaw have a good working relationship," MonkeyPaw CEO John Greiner told Joystiq. "I think they appreciate the titles we've brought to the Store. And they value the support we give the games. Having a plethora of Japanese content is a distinct advantage PlayStation has over Xbox. But the games still need to be brought Stateside. So our model helps Sony spread their Japanese edge and we help Japanese developers get their titles to a wider audience. Hence, Sony is willing to work with us on titles that may not have otherwise been licensed out. Support is key."<br /><br />MonkeyPaw has been working on acquiring the <em>Tomba!</em> rights for a year. <font color="#500050">"</font>We often have to chase down multiple right holders," Greiner said. "In this case, Sony and Whoopee Camp had rights that needed to be negotiated." The deal didn't necessarily include the sequel, however. "<i>Tomba! 2</i> is a possibility but we need to really sell <em>Tomba! 1</em> well before we can extend our relationship," Greiner explained. "It's the first time to work with Fujiwara-san so we're trying to make a good impression. Good sales have a way opening doors a bit wider."<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tomba-psn/">Tomba! Is that star of stage and screen <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Mando">Michael Mando</a> with a goatee and hula skirt? Sure is!<br /><br />Beyond the facsimile of Mando, buyers of the so-called "Insane Edition" get "exclusive survival kit packaging" (a cloth book), an "essential island survival guide," and "access to all unlockable content" (which includes the in-game content that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/21/far-cry-3-trailer-goes-on-a-nasty-trip-reveals-pre-order-bonuse/">pre-orders get in the US</a>). Considering the "Insane Edition" is just &pound;15 more than the standard "Lost Expeditions Edition" at &pound;49.85 (at least in the UK - we're waiting on EU pricing), we're thinking it's worth the dough. Perhaps you haven't looked hard enough at that bobblehead? <em>Really explore that space</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/23/far-cry-3s-insane-edition-contains-the-best-bobblehead/">Far Cry 3's 'Insane Edition' contains the best bobblehead, exclusive to Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 May 2012 12:30:00 EST. Why, we remember when she was just an NPC in a PS2 game, cheering for us as we showed off in the batting cages ... they grow up so fast.<br /><br />According to the summary of this Famitsu interview, <em>Yakuza 5</em> has had double the development time of previous games, and features a new engine, allowing the game to move from battle scenes to adventuring "seamlessly." The game is reportedly set for a Japanese release this December.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/23/yakuza-5-due-in-japan-december-2012-has-new-engine/">Yakuza 5 due in Japan December 2012, has new engine</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 May 2012 11:30:00 EST. We asked Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter for his valuation following <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/ri-governor-confirms-38-studios-layoffs/">confirmation of layoffs</a> at the studio and coverage of 38 Studios employees flocking to <a href="http://www.wpri.com/dpp/news/38-studios-employees-flock-to-job-fair">Turbine's recruitment drive in Providence last night</a>.<br /><br />"Nobody is buying MMOs after <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05/07/star-wars-the-old-republic-has-1-3-million-active-subs-new-con/"><em>Star Wars</em> fizzled</a>. I think value is low, probably $20 million or so," Pachter said. "There is just no demand for game assets right now, as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/29/warhammer-40-000-dark-millennium-mmo-now-single-player-game-10/">THQ proved when it tried to sell the Warhammer MMO</a>. I think [Electronic Arts] could step in, since they are the publisher, so you might see some alternative way to get 38 some bridge financing."<br /><br />Electronic Arts had been the publisher on the Big Huge Games developed <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/kingdoms-of-amalur-reckoning"><em>Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning</em></a>, but has yet to confirm it would publish 38 Studios' "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/project-copernicus">Project Copernicus</a>."<br /><br />"Nope - never been an announcement on that," Jeff Brown of EA corporate communications told Joystiq. "We don't have any new announcements to make regarding 38 Studios. We enjoyed working with Curt and his team on their first game, <em>Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning</em>. Like game fans all over the world, we look forward to what 38 Studios creates next."<br /><br />With reports out of Providence delivering an uncertain near future for the studio, it wouldn't be surprising if publishers tried to pick up the Amalur IP for pennies on the dollar. However, with documents showing that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/16/rhode-island-owns-38-studios-intellectual-property/">38 Studios put up the IP as collateral against the $75 million loan</a>, anybody trying to pick up the IP will be negotiating with the state of Rhode Island for control of Amalur.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/23/analyst-estimates-amalur-ip-worth-20-million-38-studios-employ/">Analyst estimates Amalur IP worth $20 million, 38 Studios employees head to job fair</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 May 2012 10:30:00 EST. Spark Unlimited's sequel alternates between almost Dead Spacey third-person skulks through atmospherically underlit hallways, and first-person assaults on aliens while inside a giant mech suit.<br /><br />There's also an emphasis on attacking an enemy's "weak spots" (joints, basically) with a big drill arm that actually makes us kind of sympathetic to the alien.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/23/lost-planet-3-footage-drills-our-weak-spots/">Lost Planet 3 footage drills our weak spots</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 May 2012 10:00:00 EST. The seven employees under West and Zampella each expected a bonus of $603,000, while staffers seeing the lowest percentage of the bonus pool (1.5 percent) had a projected $278,000.<br /><br />In 2010, the year Activision fired West and Zampella, they were each expected to earn $437,000, with projected bonuses of $13 million each. The rest of the top 20's projected salaries and bonuses rose accordingly, with salaries between $74,000 and $180,000, and bonuses ranging from $1.4 million to $2.5 million.<br /><br />"If you recently worked on a hit FPS, read this and see how incredibly underpaid you are," ngmoco general manager Benjamin Cousins <a href="https://twitter.com/benjamincousins/statuses/205019538142658561">tweeted</a> about the documents.<br /><br />The emails were released into public record in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/infinity-ward,lawsuit">lawsuit</a> between the Infinity Ward Employee Group and Activision; West and Zampella sued Activision in 2010 claiming they were owed $36 million in royalties associated with <em>Modern Warfare 2</em>,<em> </em>after Activision fired them earlier that year. Last year's breakout star, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/la-noire">L.A. Noire</a>, </em>did well with 5 million units shipped, but that doesn't compare to the more than 13 million units (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/24/take-two-takes-49-more-in-revenue-in-fiscal-2011/">8.5 million at that time</a>) done by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/red-dead-redemption"><em>Red Dead Redemption</em></a>.<br /><br />Overall, the publisher had a net loss of $108.8 million for the year, compared to the $48 million profit in the previous year.<br /><br />Here's where things get interesting: During this afternoon's investor call, CEO Strauss Zelnick reiterated a point from earlier in the call that there are "titles yet to be announced for fiscal 2013." This is significant because the company expects revenues of $1.75 - $1.85 billion for the fiscal year ending next March. Look back at that blockbuster <em>Red Dead Redemption</em> year, and note that revenues reached $1.14 billion. So, what's the deal?<br /><br />Officially, at this time, Take-Two plans to launch <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/borderlands-2"><em>Borderlands 2</em></a> in September, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/nba-2k13-slotted-for-october-2/">NBA 2K13</a></em> and <em>XCOM: Enemy Unknown</em> in October and, finally, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/bioshock-infinite-delayed/">BioShock: Infinite</a></em> in February. Although any one of those could be a runaway hit, there's still $600-$700 million missing over that impressive <em>Red Dead</em> year to hit the projection. Either<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span><em>Grand Theft Auto 5</em> is secretly on the docket for this year or Take-Two is expecting blockbusters from more than one of the announced games.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/take-two-ends-fiscal-12-with-loss-high-13-projection-raises-e/">Take-Two ends fiscal '12 with loss, high '13 projection raises eyebrows</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 May 2012 19:25:00 EST. Yes, those are the correct platforms.<br /><br />Scourge: Outbreak introduces the "Echo Squad," a group of mercenaries hired to take out the Nogari Corporation, conveniently located on Nogari Island. Four players can team up to infiltrate the "alien-infested facilities," locate a double agent, destroy the Nogari, and gain control of the "Ambrosia" power source. Functionally, this means co-op shooting, with story segments coming through as flashbacks from the four separate characters.<br /><br /><em>Scourge: Outbreak</em> will allow players to stop both the scourge and the outbreak this Q3, "later this summer."<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scourge-outbreak-5-22-12/">Scourge: Outbreak (Screens and Character Art 5/22/12)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scourge-outbreak-5-22-12/#5039213"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/scourgeoutbreakscavengers_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scourge-outbreak-5-22-12/#5039214"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/scourgeoutbreakscreenshot00472_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scourge-outbreak-5-22-12/#5039215"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/scourgeoutbreakscreenshot00529_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scourge-outbreak-5-22-12/#5039216"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/scourgeoutbreaksurgery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scourge-outbreak-5-22-12/#5039258"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/scourgeoutbreakampcharacters-1337697911_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/scourge-outbreak-spreads-to-psn-xbla-mac-this-summer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Scourge: Outbreak spreads to PSN, XBLA, Mac this summer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/scourge-outbreak-spreads-to-psn-xbla-mac-this-summer/">Scourge: Outbreak spreads to PSN, XBLA, Mac this summer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 May 2012 18:55:00 EST. Take-Two's latest <a href="http://ir.take2games.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=86428&amp;p=irol-newsArticle&amp;ID=1698793&amp;highlight=">earnings report</a> gives the game a "fiscal year 2014" date, which puts it between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014.<br /><br />The previous release window announcement put it in the previous fiscal year - and that announcement was, itself, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/08/xcom-delayed-beyond-q1-2012/">delay</a> from a proposed March 6, 2012 release date. The studio, based in Leeds, will focus on mobile development and is led by Team17 co-founder Martyn Brown. He left Rockstar in February 2011 and worked as game director at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe for six months.<br /><br />Lloyd was studio head of Rockstar Lincoln for 12 years, but left in March 2011 to found his own games consulting service, Titanium Consultancy, which has since been voluntarily dismantled.<br /><br />Activision Leeds was established in November, but is just now blipping on public radar. Washbrook and Lloyd could be at Activision Leeds for the long haul or as initial consultants; Activision hasn't clarified.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/activision-enlists-former-rockstar-bosses-to-help-with-new-uk-st/">Activision enlists former Rockstar bosses to help with new UK studio</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 May 2012 14:30:00 EST. "Sign up. You can rock Pantera in the barracks, blow up helicopters and assassinate evil warlords every day," I imagined the end credits might read.<br /><br />But between every clich&eacute;d cutscene, showing the four members of Ghost squad swilling beer and talking car engines while they wait for their next mission, are a bounty of excellent gameplay scenarios: VIPs to rescue, things to blow up and stealth missions that require diligent adherence to caution and calculation rather than simply making sure you move slowly and stay out of sight. No two missions in <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em> are the same, and the diversity in locales and armaments means there's always something new to see - and shoot.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/ghost-recon-future-soldier-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier review: More than just a soldier</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/ghost-recon-future-soldier-review/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier review: More than just a soldier</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 May 2012 14:00:00 EST. And by "one," we mean <em>XCOM</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xcom-enemy-unknown-5-22-12/">XCOM: Enemy Unknown (5/22/12)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xcom-enemy-unknown-5-22-12/#5039018"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/xcom-eu360fob_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xcom-enemy-unknown-5-22-12/#5039019"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/xcom-eupc-dvdfob-se_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xcom-enemy-unknown-5-22-12/#5039020"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/xcom-eups3-wamaryfob_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xcom-enemy-unknown-5-22-12/#5039021"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/xcomeue3hr001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xcom-enemy-unknown-5-22-12/#5039022"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/xcomeue3hr003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/xcom-enemy-unknown-launches-retail-operations-october-9/">XCOM: Enemy Unknown launches retail operations October 9</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 May 2012 08:07:00 EST. First we had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/18/this-monk-is-suspicious-of-this-hillbilly-only-double-fine-know/">the monk, the hillbilly</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/18/time-traveler-is-another-playable-character-in-double-fines-m/">the time traveler</a>, and now we have three more random occupations to ponder: the adventurer, the scientist and the knight.<br /><br />Double Fine's Ron Gilbert posted images of each of these characters on his blog, <a href="http://grumpygamer.com/main">Grumpy Gamer</a>. The only other information gleaned from the reveals appears to be that the knight isn't exactly Sir Bravery, but we could have gotten that from the little shaking knees in his picture.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/three-more-playable-characters-for-new-double-fine-game/">Three more playable characters for new Double Fine game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 May 2012 22:00:00 EST. "If you're an absolute purist," Provinciano adds, "you can still play the game 100% with the buttons." The Vita version also supports "continuous play" with the PS3 version, meaning that saves transfer between the two platforms and both versions share the same universal scoreboard.<br /><br />Additionally, the Vita and PS3 ports will come packed with visual filters that make the game look like various systems of yore, such as the all-red "Virtual Burn" and monochrome "Brick Handheld" settings.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/retro-city-rampage-for-vita-looks-like-this/">Retro City Rampage for Vita looks like this</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 May 2012 21:15:00 EST. The first will be an Xbox exclusive (360 with the option for its successor) in fall 2013 (versions for other systems would follow one year later) with followup games on Xbox successor, PS3 successor, and PC in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Four DLC expansions, code-named "Comet," are included in the deal, due fall 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020.<br /><br />In the contract, Activision reserves the right to take over the "Destiny" property if Bungie fails to meet its requirements; however, it stipulates that it will not begin more "Destiny" projects until Bungie has completed its work.<br /><br />The contract also gives Bungie the freedom to put five percent of its staff to work on a prototype for a new game referred to as "Marathon," with the team size allowed to grow after certain operating income. There are also rules governing how much of the company's staff can work on Bungie.Net, <em>Halo Reach</em> DLC and other projects.<br /><br />That takes care of the next eight years or so of video game news. We're sure anyone interested in a James Bond video game is completely outraged by the violent hedonism of James Bond movies. Again, our sincerest apologies.<br /><br /><em>007 Legends</em> is due out October 16, its trailer eventually reveals, following in-game scenes from <em>Moonraker</em>, one of the six James Bond storylines mashed up for the title. The <em>007 Legends</em> trailer begins at 1:24, and in all honesty we could have very easily cut out just the video game portion and spared you the <em>trouble </em>of having to watch the <em>Skyfall </em>trailer.<br /><br />If anyone has a problem with our editorial decision, feel free to take it up with our staff - all <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/about/">0011</a> of us.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/007-legends-trailer-reveals-october-16-release-date/">007 Legends trailer reveals October 16 release date</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 May 2012 19:00:00 EST. Two players control teams of eight adventurers, each with different abilities, and try to capture areas of a maze-like dungeon. It's based on a <a href="http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12995/dungeon-twister">board game</a> (but not the Twister we normally associate with board games, which could theoretically be played in a dungeon).<br /><br />Upon seizing control of a segment, players can then rotate the area, opening new avenues for themselves and confounding their opponents (or leading directly into traps). The goal is either to escape or defeat your opponent.<br /><br /><em>Dungeon Twister</em> will take turns on PSN this summer.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/dungeon-twister-combines-strategy-board-games-and-swiveling-on/">Dungeon Twister combines strategy, board games, and swiveling on PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 May 2012 14:20:00 EST. I have walked the coasts of this land more times than I can count, treading upon the lives of creatures most foul. I have felled the beasts of the forest with arrows and steel and pillaged their leavings for aught. I have died, thousands of times, as have those who have adventured with me. And, in the end, I think back on almost none of it with fondness, or the nostalgic recollection given to hard fought, hard won battles. I am no hero.<br /><br />Listen now, as I play for you the song of my heartache. Let me spin you a tale of confusion, anger, humility and bona fide bewilderment in the face of abject mediocrity. Let me tell of Seraphina the Arisen, her loyal pawn Josephine, and their stupid, stupid quest to save the kingdom of Gransys. Let me tell you of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dragons-dogma"><em>Dragon's Dogma</em></a>.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-4-10-12/">Dragon's Dogma (4/10/12)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-4-10-12/#4954338"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/dragonsdogmacapture0528-00000bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-4-10-12/#4954339"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/dragonsdogmacapture0676-00000bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-4-10-12/#4954340"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/dragonsdogmacapture0693-00000bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-4-10-12/#4954341"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/dragonsdogmacapture0774-00000bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-4-10-12/#4954342"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/dragonsdogmacapture4824-00000bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/dragons-dogma-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Dragon's Dogma review: Heartache every moment</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/dragons-dogma-review/">Dragon's Dogma review: Heartache every moment</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 May 2012 11:20:00 EST. "That's my intention," Gilray said. "The QA might say 'noooo' but that's my plan anyway."<br /><br />The Vita version includes tweaks to make the game more natural on a handheld, like the ability to switch between third- and first-person views by double-tapping on the touchscreen, and using a "pinch" gesture to zoom.<br /><br />Gilray also hopes to get the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/14/oddworld-munchs-oddysee-hd-coming-q2-see-munchs-new-model/">HD update</a> of <em>Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee</em> out in June. That's planned for PS3 and Xbox, though of course only the PS3 version was mentioned.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/oddworld-strangers-wrath-vita-munchs-oddysee-hd-both-due-in/">Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Vita, Munch's Oddysee HD both due in June</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 May 2012 10:15:00 EST.
