With the next generation of the <em>Call of Duty</em> engine, Activision studios will be able to produce curved objects with realism never before seen in the series. In layman's terms, that means the dogs will look really good - just look at Ghost Dog compared to MW3 Dog. Woof!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/comparing-next-gen-call-of-duty-dogs-in-ghosts-to-mw3-dogs/">Comparing next-gen Call of Duty dogs in Ghosts to MW3 dogs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 19:00:00 EST. <br />
In <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/madden-nfl-25"><em>Madden 25</em></a>'s Connected Franchise career mode, players can take on the role of team owner and perform a number of new tasks, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/relocate-your-team-in-madden-25s-franchise-owners-mode/">relocating teams to new cities</a>. Madden's Creative Director Mike Young told Joystiq today that the mode is designed to limit the franchise relocation option to 17 different markets. The 17 cities include Brooklyn, London, Dublin, Toronto, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Austin, Columbus, Orlando, Portland, Oklahoma City and Memphis.<br />
<br />
Additionally, some locations with an already-established NFL presence can receive a second team, such as Chicago and Houston. Players will have the option to retain their team name, logo and uniforms when moving or select from three different preset options for each city, including the Brooklyn Beats. The mode also grants players the option to reboot now-defunct teams from the NFL's history, such as the Columbus Panhandles, London Monarchs or the Houston Oilers. Players can opt to turn off the team relocation feature, disabling the option entirely.<br />
<br />
EA Sports provided us with a new trailer for the game in which Young discusses the move from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/madden-nfl-13"><em>Madden 13</em></a>'s Connected Careers mode to this year's Connected Franchise mode. <em>Madden 25</em> will launch August 27 for PS3 and Xbox 360.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/madden-25-will-let-you-move-to-17-different-cities-revive-histo/">Madden 25 will let you move to 17 different cities, revive historic teams</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 16:30:00 EST. EA Sports' next-generation Ignite Engine was on display at the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/xbox-reveal">Xbox One reveal</a> event at Microsoft's Redmond campus today. We have four trailers that demonstrate the engine's capabilities, three of which can be found after the break.<br />
<br />
EA Sports Executive Vice President Andrew Wilson told attendees of the Xbox One event that the Ignite Engine will perform "four times more calculations per second" than the publisher's current offerings. Wilson said the engine will allow for 3D crowds and dynamic sidelines.<br />
<br />
EA will launch four sports games for the console within 12 months, namely <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fifa-14">FIFA 14</a></em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/madden-nfl-25"><em>Madden NFL 25</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ea-sports-ufc"><em>EA Sports UFC</em></a> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/nba-live-14">NBA Live 14</a></em>. Each game will be powered by the Ignite Engine.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/ea-sports-next-gen-ignite-engine-shown-off-in-trailer-form/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EA Sports' next-gen Ignite Engine shown off in trailer form</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/ea-sports-next-gen-ignite-engine-shown-off-in-trailer-form/">EA Sports' next-gen Ignite Engine shown off in trailer form</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 May 2013 14:58:00 EST. The Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl is now available as a playable fighter in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/injustice-gods-among-us"><em>Injustice: Gods Among Us</em></a>, provided you're willing to pony up the $4.99/400 MS Points required to download her; however, Season pass holder have already <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/21/injustice-season-pass-includes-4-characters-bonus-costumes/">paid their dues</a>. As we've seen <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/09/injustice-gods-among-us-batgirl-footage-aint-no-killing-jok/">previously</a>, Batgirl's fighting style is a mixture of zoning capabilities and rushdown, rather than a carbon copy of Batman or Nightwing.<br />
<br />
Two new costume packs are also available: The Red Son pack, which we've discussed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/injustice-gods-among-us-red-son-pre-order-dlc-available-to-all/">at length</a>, and the Killing Joke pack, which features new costumes from ol' Joker's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman:_The_Killing_Joke">finest hour</a>. Both are available for $2.99/240 MS Points.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/psa-batgirl-grapples-onto-injustice-gods-among-us-costume-pac/">PSA: Batgirl grapples onto Injustice: Gods Among Us, costume packs in tow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 May 2013 12:25:00 EST. Ubisoft has released a new trailer for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/splinter-cell-blacklist"><i>Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist</i></a>, showcasing gameplay from its co-op narrative campaign and some gruff banter between Sam Fisher and his partner-in-stealth Isaac Briggs.<br />
<br />
 <i>Splinter Cell</i> is beefing up its multiplayer offerings for the latest series entry, as <i>Blacklist</i> will feature both a two-player co-op campaign and the returning <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/02/splinter-cell-blacklist-resurrects-spies-vs-mercs-multiplayer/">Spies vs. Mercs</a> multiplayer mode. We <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/07/co-op-stealth-and-survival-in-splinter-cell-blacklist/">had a chat</a> with <i>Blacklist</i>'s lead co-op designer Richard Carrillo earlier this month, in which he confirmed that teammates will need to adapt to multiple playstyles in order to survive.<br />
<br />
 <i>Blacklist</i>'s co-op element spans four mission types and 14 maps, and is playable online and in local split-screen. <i>Splinter Cell: Blacklist</i> is set to launch for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC platforms on August 20.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/splinter-cell-blacklist-trailer-features-stealthy-co-op/">Splinter Cell: Blacklist trailer features stealthy co-op</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 May 2013 12:00:00 EST. Sony's official E3 teaser video shows a blurry, black box. Is this the future of gaming, also known as <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aGDCE6Nrz0">Cube</a>?<br />
<br />
Sony's E3 conference takes place in Los Angeles on June 10 at 6 p.m. PT. Perhaps we'll get a clearer idea of what the PS4 looks like at that time, along with a price and release date. Right now we have "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/20/playstation-4/">Holiday 2013</a>," a timeframe that Sony settled on when it announced the PS4 in February.<br />
<br />
Microsoft is prepping to reveal its own next-gen console - <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/24/xbox-reveal-may-21/">the new Xbox</a> - tomorrow, May 21, at 10 a.m. PT. We'll have live coverage of that event.<br />

 <strong>Update:</strong> Joystiq reader <a href="http://fyre.it/rkB5dV.4">rcoutant</a> points us to an <a href="http://imgur.com/a/lzNFA#0">imgur album</a> of the PS4 hardware in focus and really close-up, pulled right from the video.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/ps4-e3-teaser-video-boxes-it-all-up/">PS4 E3 teaser video boxes it all up [Update: Close-up shots capped]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 May 2013 11:00:00 EST. The first Yakuza entry for a non-Sony console is <em>Yakuza 1 and 2 HD</em>. Nintendo announced the Wii U port in last week's Nintendo Direct. Going by this vid, the gangster classics are compatible with off-TV play. The HD combo roughs up Wii U in Japan on August 8. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/yakuza-1-and-2-hd-wii-u/">Yakuza 1 and 2 HD (Wii U)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/yakuza-1-and-2-hd-wii-u/#5893347"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/1-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/yakuza-1-and-2-hd-wii-u/#5893348"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/1-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/yakuza-1-and-2-hd-wii-u/#5893349"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/1-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/yakuza-1-and-2-hd-wii-u/#5893350"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/1-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/yakuza-1-and-2-hd-wii-u/#5893351"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/1-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/yakuza-1-and-2-hd-to-paint-the-wii-u-red-in-japan/">Yakuza 1 and 2 HD to paint the Wii U red in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 May 2013 10:30:00 EST. EA recently provided us with a producer walkthrough video for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-sims-3">The Sims 3</a></em> Island Paradise DLC, an upcoming expansion pack for the game.  The DLC takes players to the Isle Paradiso where, as seen in the video, they can cruise on houseboats from port to port.<br />
<br />
Players will also get to build their own resort on the island when the expansion launches June 28. Before that, however, <em>The Sims 3</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/11/khaleesi-sims-3-dragon-valley-is-available-may-30/">Dragon Valley</a> world will open on May 30. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-sims-3-island-paradise-5-16-13/">The Sims 3 - Island Paradise (5/16/13)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-sims-3-island-paradise-5-16-13/#5886538"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/ts3islandparadiseoriginexclusive1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-sims-3-island-paradise-5-16-13/#5886539"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/ts3islandparadiseoriginexclusive2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/sims-3-producers-guide-you-through-island-paradise-dlc/">Sims 3 producers guide you through Island Paradise DLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 12:00:00 EST. Join Joystiq in the streets of Neo-Paris <em>and</em> the intricate pathways of the mind in this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/remember-me"><em>Remember Me</em></a> video preview. Dontnod's memory-focused action game features strategic battle jeans, "remembrane buoys" and even more dubiously named plot devices, if you can believe it.<br />
<br />
 <em>Remember Me</em> launches for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on June 4.

<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/scurvy-scallywags"><em><span class="il">Scurvy</span><span> Scallywags</span></em></a>, the upcoming game from Ron Gilbert and DeathSpank co-creator Clayton Kauzlaric, is a little different from most match-three puzzlers. As we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/19/ron-gilberts-next-game-scurvy-scallywags-is-a-pirate-match-3/">learned in March</a>, players can influence the direction in which the board collapses after making a match. This, in turn, can move their character around the board and allow them to engage in combat with other characters.<br />
<br />
The concept is a bit difficult to put down on paper, so thankfully there's a new trailer! Take note of the end of the video, as we're fairly certain this is the first sea shanty in history to feature a theremin.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/">Scurvy Scallywags</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/#5888642"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/scurvyscallywags-ipad-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/#5888643"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/scurvyscallywags-ipad-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/#5888644"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/scurvyscallywags-ipad-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/#5888645"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/scurvyscallywags-ipad-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scurvy-scallywags/#5888646"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/scurvyscallywags-ipad-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/ron-gilberts-scurvy-scallywags-gets-trailer-screens/">Ron Gilbert's Scurvy Scallywags gets trailer, screens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 18:15:00 EST. <br />
We're not sure today's Nintendo Direct will announce much in the way of new Wii U games. Well, it' unlikely to reveal any new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/ea-has-no-wii-u-games-in-development/">EA ones</a>, anyway. What we <em>do</em> know is that the North American broadcast covers Wii U and 3DS games coming in the summer.<br />
<br />
As ever, the North American stream intertwines with simultaneous ones from Europe and Japan. Ninty's Euro division says its stream is about spring and summer Wii U games. Should you prefer, you can find both those streams after the break.<br />
<br />
We hope you're ready to rumble, because this summer party gets started at 10AM ET (7AM PT, 3PM UK) right here on this post, right here on this Joystiq. We'll have all the news for you as it's revealed, like lots of little suns peeking out from behind an Iwata-shaped cloud.<br />

In what appears to be a modern take on late-80s arcade game <em>Narc</em>, Deep Silver's <em>Narco Terror</em> is a twin-stick blast-everything shooter of one man (or two in local or online co-op) versus the cartels. The game is listed for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/twin-stick-shooter-narco-terror-smokes-some-fools-this-summer/">Twin-stick shooter 'Narco Terror' smokes some fools this summer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 09:00:00 EST. <br />
Ahead of <em>Arrested Development</em> blue-ing up on screens once more when the fourth season arrives <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/tvandradioblog/2013/apr/04/arrested-development-netflix-may-26">later this month</a>, Netflix released a sizzle reel (below the break) for the sitcom's hapless actor wannabe Tobias F&uuml;nke. As ever, Tobias' awkward choice of words is the star of the show, but the <em>Jumpman</em> cameo is a very close second.<br />
<br />
That'd be pretty tenuous to post on its own, but thankfully Capcom stepped in and gave us the perfect excuse. Responding to Tobias' call in the sizzle reel - "Insert me anywhere!" - Capcom did just that with a selection of its classic games. And now we want a Mega Man game with Dr F&uuml;nke as the villain. Make it happen, universe.<br />
<br />
Also, we got this far without making the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/18/capcom-adjusts-forecasts-following-canceled-games-revises-strat/">obvious gag</a>. <a href="http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lwuhjeD9i01qbbk61o1_400.gif">Huzzah</a>!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/capcom-inserts-arrested-developments-tobias-funke-everywhere/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Capcom inserts Arrested Development's Tobias Fünke everywhere</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/capcom-inserts-arrested-developments-tobias-funke-everywhere/">Capcom inserts Arrested Development's Tobias Fünke everywhere</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 07:00:00 EST. John Hight, who serves as Production Director on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/diablo-3"><em>Diablo 3</em></a>, says the most exciting thing about the PS4, in Blizzard's eyes, is the controller. "This is not a mouse, this is something different for us," Blizzard Senior System Designer Jason Bender says of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dualshock-4">DualShock 4</a>. "Working on a console version of <em>Diablo 3</em>, for us that means the controller is king," Lead Console Designer Josh Mosqueira adds.<br />
<br />
The use of both analog sticks comes from a perceived player expectation on Blizzard's part - players will just expect to be able to do that with a console controller, Mosqueira says. The console versions of Diablo 3 on PS3 and PS4 will feature <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/25/diablo-3-on-ps3-and-ps4-will-allow-offline-play/">an evasion roll technique</a> not available on PC.<br />
<br />
The trackpad is demonstrated in the video above, sorting through a player's inventory in the new radial-style interface. "We really built our inventory screens and the UI system from the ground up," says Mosqueira. Another new ability is quick equip - at any time, players can press up on the dpad to cycle through the last few acquired items and equip any of them.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/take-a-peek-at-diablo-3s-new-menu-system-controls-for-ps3-ps4/">Take a peek at Diablo 3's new menu system, controls for PS3/PS4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 23:00:00 EST. <br />
British publisher/developer System 3 has announced an enhanced remake of its blue-blob-based action platformer <em>Putty Squad</em>, available sometime this summer on Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 3, Vita, 3DS and Windows 8.<br />
<br />
The original <em>Putty Squad</em> was initially released on Super NES back in 1994, as a sequel to 1992's <em>Putty</em> for the Amiga. A demo was also released for Amiga and DOS systems, but the full game never dropped for either of those platforms. This new version, beyond offering obvious graphical improvements, will also include free downloadable levels and "location-based services used for extra content."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/putty-squad-bounces-onto-pretty-much-everything-this-summer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Putty Squad bounces onto pretty much everything this summer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/putty-squad-bounces-onto-pretty-much-everything-this-summer/">Putty Squad bounces onto pretty much everything this summer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 13:00:00 EST. "Shit gets really weird" in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fuse"><em>Fuse</em></a>. Not our words, but those of Overstrike 9's Dalton Brooks. Still, would be a great tagline for <em>Fuse</em>, or any game for that matter. Oh well, Insomniac's <em>Fuse</em> will have to make do without when it launches on May 28 for PS3 and Xbox 360. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/">Fuse (Launch)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/#5884728"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/fuse01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/#5884730"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/fuse02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/#5884731"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/fuse03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/#5884732"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/fuse04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/#5884733"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/fuse05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/fuse-ignites-launch-trailer-new-screens/">Fuse ignites launch trailer, new screens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 12:30:00 EST. This <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/batman-arkham-origins">Batman: Arkham Origins</a></em> tease features no gameplay, no real concept of how the game will differ from the excellent <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-asylum">Arkham Asylum</a></em> and <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-city">Arkham City</a></em>. <br />
The PlayStation Japan website just unveiled a trailer for what's apparently a new Japan Studio game, possibly called <em>Panopticon</em> going by the page name. The unveiling followed a week-long countdown, which was more like a count-up since the timer eventually ticked up to "1,000,000 years." It did just that at 6AM ET, with this trailer in its stead.<br />
<br />
The trailer depicts a futuristic, totalitarian world where citizens are seemingly identified by virtually visualized ID numbers. There's no indication of any platforms or release date.<br />

We've seen plenty of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/shin-megami-tensei-4"><em>Shin Megami Tensei 4</em></a> in Japanese, so here's a better, albeit brief look at how the upcoming 3DS RPG looks and sounds in English. North America passed the rite to receive the Atlus game on July 16, while Europe is still waiting in the wings with a summer release window. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/shin-megami-tensei-4-trailer-is-definitely-going-to-be-a-samurai/">Shin Megami Tensei 4 trailer is definitely going to be a samurai</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 04:00:00 EST. I am a monologue trailer. I'm going to say things in a deeper than natural voice. I'm also going to wait ... (wait, no wait some more) before I finish a full sentence. I'm going to tell you how cool I am between quick flashy edits of me stabbing dudes. Yes, I am a protagonist and I'll finish off by saying something supposedly profound.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/assassins-creed-4-black-flag-monologue-trailer-bends-knee-to-n/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag monologue trailer bends knee to no man</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/assassins-creed-4-black-flag-monologue-trailer-bends-knee-to-n/">Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag monologue trailer bends knee to no man</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 May 2013 12:00:00 EST. Here's a better feel for how battles work in the upcoming <em>Time and Eternity</em>, thankfully without <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/22/nis-america-bringing-disgaea-d2-the-guided-fate-paradox-and-ti/"><em>that</em> voiceover</a>. In the Imageepoch PS3 RPG you control two souls trapped in one magical princess body, trying to escape the cycle of a recurring wedding day. Like most weddings, then.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/time-and-eternity-trailer-features-two-souls-in-one-on-one-battl/">Time and Eternity trailer features two souls in one-on-one battles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 May 2013 07:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/pacman-and-the-ghostly-adventures"><em>Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures</em></a> will launch this fall on PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360, with a special side-scrolling version coming to 3DS, Namco Bandai announced. The game takes inspiration from the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pac-Man_and_the_Ghostly_Adventures">TV show</a> of the same name, which is slated to begin airing June 17 on Disney XD.<br />
<br />
 <em>Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures</em> features the iconic yellow character in a 3D adventure game in which he turns into a chameleon at some point, using his tongue to reel in ghosts. In the game's announcement trailer, Pac-Man also eats entire vending machines. Healthy choices, kids! <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pac-man-and-the-ghostly-adventures-announcement/">Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures (Announcement)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pac-man-and-the-ghostly-adventures-announcement/#5878818"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/chameleonattack_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pac-man-and-the-ghostly-adventures-announcement/#5878819"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/chameleonattack2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pac-man-and-the-ghostly-adventures-announcement/#5878820"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/chameleonback_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pac-man-and-the-ghostly-adventures-announcement/#5878821"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/chameleoncloseup_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pac-man-and-the-ghostly-adventures-announcement/#5878822"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/chameleonside_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/pac-man-and-the-ghostly-adventures-chomps-north-america-this-fal/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures chomps North America this fall</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/pac-man-and-the-ghostly-adventures-chomps-north-america-this-fal/">Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures chomps North America this fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 May 2013 23:45:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/borderlands-2"><em>Borderlands 2</em></a>'s sixth vault hunter, Krieg the Psycho Bandit, is now available across Xbox 360, PS3 and PC for $10. The latest playable character is <strong>not</strong> part of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/30/borderlands-2-season-pass-announced-all-4-dlc-for-30/">Borderlands 2 Season Pass</a>, so don't go thinking grabbing that will net the psycho. By now, you should realize that the latest <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/rayman-legends"><em>Rayman Legends</em></a> trailer needs no introduction. You should just watch it. Okay, if you really need further incentive, the spies of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/splinter-cell-blacklist">4th Echelon</a> make a cameo. Sort of.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, Ubisoft has also announced the UK pre-order bonuses for the game, exclusive to GAME. The Wii U version will let Barbara the barbarian dress up as Aveline De Grandpr&eacute;, star of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/assassins-creed-3-liberation"><em>Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation</em></a>. The PS3 version puts Rayman in the garb of Edward Kenway, piratical protagonist of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/assassins-creed-4-black-flag"><em>Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag</em></a>. Finally, speaking of 4th Echelon, the Xbox 360 version gives Rayman a Sam Fisher costume.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update: </strong>It's the same deal for US pre-orders, but at GameStop. Check out the various costumes after the break. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-legends-ocean-world/">Rayman Legends (Ocean World)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-legends-ocean-world/#5878804"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/rl20000lumsunderthemissileattack_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-legends-ocean-world/#5878805"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/rl20000lumsunderthesea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-legends-ocean-world/#5878806"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/rl20000lumsunderthesealaserattack_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-legends-ocean-world/#5878807"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/rl20000lumsundertheseashark_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/rayman-legends-visits-ocean-world-uk-pre-order-goodies-reveal/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rayman Legends visits 'Ocean World,' UK pre-order goodies revealed [update: NA too]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/rayman-legends-visits-ocean-world-uk-pre-order-goodies-reveal/">Rayman Legends visits 'Ocean World,' UK pre-order goodies revealed [update: NA too]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 May 2013 12:15:00 EST. This new gameplay trailer brings <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/pokemon-x-and-y-gets-four-new-characters-of-various-types/">the <em>Pokemon X</em> and <em>Y</em> info-dump</a> from the latest CoroCoro magazine to life, with the two playable characters, four recently unveiled monsters, and the star-shaped Kalos region taking the limelight. The metropolis shown off above is Lumiose City, the epicenter of the Kalos region.<br />
<br />
The four new Pokemon on show are Gogoat, Pancham, Fletchling, and Helioptile - <a href="http://www.pokemonxy.com/en-us/pokemon/">find out more on them here</a>. Also, as CoroCoro recently revealed, the two 3DS games support trainer hair and skin color customization - you know, in case the blonde with red gingham look just isn't doing it for you.<br />
<br />

Nintendo was encouraged by its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/25/nintendo-downloadable-game-sales-more-than-double-this-year/">digital growth</a> over the last year, and a significant part of that is the indie scene on Wii U and 3DS. The big N visited Madrid's iDEAME conference last month to chat with some of the indie faces behind the indie games, and thankfully it recorded the footage. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/wii-u-3ds-indie-devs-talk-shop-at-ideame/">Wii U, 3DS indie devs talk shop at iDEAME</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 May 2013 07:00:00 EST. <br />
 <em><a href="http://www.thenovelistgame.com/">The Novelist</a></em> stars three characters: Dan Kaplan, a father attempting to finish writing the most important book of his career; Dan's wife and their young son - and you won't play as any of these people. Instead, players control an omniscient presence in the family's summer cabin, able to watch their daily lives, read their thoughts, enter their memories and influence their actions. The only catch is that the ghost must stay out of sight.<br />
<br />
"It's up to you to decide how Dan's career and family life will evolve, but choose carefully; there are no easy answers, and every choice has a cost," <em>The Novelist</em>'s description reads. "Dan's relationships - to his work, his wife and his son - react and shift in response to your choices. With a different sequence of events in every playthrough, The Novelist gives life to a unique experience each time you play.<br />
<br />
"The decisions you make will define the Kaplans' lives, but they may also tell you something about yourself."<br />
<br />
 <em>The Novelist</em> is the brain child of Kent Hudson, who worked on AAA titles such as <em>BioShock 2</em>, <em>Thief: Deadly Shadows</em>, <em>Deus Ex: Invisible War</em>, <em>The Bureau: XCOM Declassified</em>, and maybe even more games with subtitles. He left the mainstream industry in 2011, and has been working on <em>The Novelist</em> ever since. We hope he wasn't working <em>all</em> the time, though - all work and no play make Kent a dull boy.<br />
<br />
 <em>The Novelist</em> is due out on PC and Mac this summer, with pre-orders live now at a 25 percent discount ($15) <a href="http://www.thenovelistgame.com/">via Hudson's site</a>, with a <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=144549818">Steam Greenlight</a> page ready to roll.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-novelist/">The Novelist</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-novelist/#5876718"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/novelistscreen1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-novelist/#5876719"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/novelistscreen2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-novelist/#5876720"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/novelistscreen3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-novelist/#5876721"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/novelistscreen4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-novelist/#5876722"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/novelistscreen5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/the-novelist-takes-ghostwriting-to-a-new-emotional-level/">The Novelist takes 'ghostwriting' to a new, emotional level</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 May 2013 22:00:00 EST. This could be the first glimpse of Sony's PlayStation 4 console and a look at the next generation of designer contact lens trends. This video contains the correct amount of blaring electronica for an E3 presentation, but we've reached out to Sony to clarify if it is, in fact, legitimate.<br />
<br />
Sony <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/20/playstation-4/">announced the PS4</a> in February, but has yet to show off the console itself. Microsoft, Sony's next-gen competitor, is preparing to reveal its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/24/xbox-reveal-may-21/">new Xbox</a> on May 21.<br />
<br />

<br />
 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/16/the-joystiq-indie-pitch-triple-town/"><em>Triple Town</em></a> developer Spry Fox has announced its next project, <a href="http://spryfox.com/2013/05/13/announcing-road-not-taken/"><em>Road Not Taken</em></a>. Like <em>Triple Town</em>, <em>Road Not Taken</em> is a puzzle game, though it looks like Spry Fox is trying something a little different this time, injecting the game with an interesting narrative structure and roguelike elements. Yes, it's a roguelike ... puzzle game.<br />
<br />
Inspired by the <a href="http://www.bartleby.com/119/1.html">Robert Frost poem</a> of the same name (minus "The"), <em>Road Not Taken</em> hopes to explore the idea of what happens when someone goes against the grain of society, wandering off the usual path. Spry Fox is touting a "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pointillism">pointillist</a>" narrative. The idea is that, just as hundreds of tiny dots can <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:A_Sunday_on_La_Grande_Jatte,_Georges_Seurat,_1884.jpg">reveal a work of art</a> when viewed from a distance, multiple plays of <em>Road Not Taken</em> will begin to reveal "a greater theme."<br />
<br />
Yeah, it all sounds pretty hoity-toity, but hey, look at this adorable trailer and artwork!<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/road-not-taken/">Road Not Taken</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/road-not-taken/#5875195"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/rntteaserimage1b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/road-not-taken/#5875196"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/rntteaserimage2b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/road-not-taken/#5875197"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/rntteaserimage3b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />

If the paranoia weren't already palpable of young students raising their hands in history classes to correct their teachers about how Ezio dealt with the Borgia family, or how Connor handled Washington, now Assassin's Creed's marketing is passing itself off as "true stories." This'll end well.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/assassins-creed-4-black-flag-to-tell-true-pirate-stories-says/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag to tell true pirate stories, says trailer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/assassins-creed-4-black-flag-to-tell-true-pirate-stories-says/">Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag to tell true pirate stories, says trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 May 2013 12:00:00 EST. Oculus Rift owner and YouTuber Vaecon recorded a 15-minute session of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/half-life-2"><em>Half-Life 2</em></a> on Oculus Rift, and the entire experience can be summed up in a few words, spoken less than two minutes into his gameplay demo: "Whoa. This is really cool."<br />
<br />
Valve launched official support for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/10/half-life-2-gets-official-oculus-rift-support/"><em>Half-Life 2</em> on the Oculus Rift</a> virtual reality headset, in beta form, on Friday. Valve programmer Joe Ludwig cautioned that this beta was "a bit more raw" than<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/team-fortress-2">Team Fortress 2</a></em>'s Oculus Rift prowess, noting HUD and UI issues.<br />
<br />
Vaecon sported some anti-motion-sickness bands during his <em>Half-Life 2</em> session, since previous games on the system left him woozy. Whether because of the bands or the game itself, <em>Half-Life 2</em> on Oculus Rift didn't appear to affect Vaecon's stomach.<br />
<br />
"This is the perfect scene to show on the Oculus because there's a lot of action, jumping and - oh, I feel like I'm swimming," he said.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/12/half-life-2-on-the-oculus-rift-looks-like-double-the-trouble-fu/">Half-Life 2 on the Oculus Rift looks like double the trouble, fun</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 12 May 2013 19:30:00 EST. Gameplay videos are a great way to kick off your Sundays, so here is a six-minute video of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/watch-dogs"><em>Watch Dogs</em></a>, courtesy of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5R_1B77bug">GamesHQMedia</a>. We haven't seen this particular video before, a commentary-free look at main character Aiden's use of the near-future Chicago environment, so be sure to check it out before it gets taken down.<br />
