Finally, the complex and compelling story of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/blazblue">BlazBlue</a> is getting the anime treatment with <a href="http://blazblue-am.jp/index.html"><em>BlazBlue Alter Memory</em></a>. According to <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2013-05-19/blazblue-alter-memory-anime-story-cast-staff-revealed">Anime News Network</a>, the story centers on Ragna the Bloodedge - you might know him as "humongous sword guy" - and the ragtag gang of pugilists determined to collect the bounty on his head. Somehow, a fox lady, a little vampire girl and a weird, anthropomorphic cat person figure in there as well.<br />
<br />
<em>BlazBlue Alter Memory</em> is set to launch this fall.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/blazblue-alter-memory-transplants-the-game-into-anime/">BlazBlue Alter Memory transplants the game into anime</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 May 2013 04:00:00 EST. Arc System Works announced <em>Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN</em> at its 25th anniversary festival in Yokohama, Japan today. While there are no details yet on what platforms the arcade fighter will appear on, the developer uploaded an introductory trailer to its <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKGPhKu3jNg">YouTube</a> channel.<br />
<br />
The trailer features a battle between series mainstays Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske. <em>Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN</em> will, once again, be directed by Daisuke Ishiwatari, who also composed the song heard in the trailer. The video shows that the game will run on the Unreal engine and won't use sprites, a first for the developer. Additionally, while the character shown at the end seems to be Milla Rage, the character briefly reflected in her eyes appears to be Eddie/Zato-1.<br />

The game (which was originally released on the PS2 back in 2008) has quite a few different versions floating around, including one for the PSP, another on the Wii, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/16/guilty-gear-hits-xbla-next-week-arkham-city-on-sale-this-week/">an XBLA version earlier</a> this year. Zen United, the company distributing the fighter, announced the delay via the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=360665644007787&amp;set=a.293977660676586.62381.166777336729953&amp;type=1">Persona 4 Europe Facebook page</a>. Zen says it will announce a projected release date once it receives the EU build, but currently the distributor doesn't even know when that build will be ready.<br /><br />Europeans originally expected the game on August 31, in the same month as the North American launch. Following <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-22-persona-4-arena-delayed-in-europe">that delay</a> and today's news, fans are now left uncertain when the game will actually be released. This further delay only adds to scrutiny over the decision to enforce the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/05/persona-4-arena-will-be-region-locked-on-ps3/">region lock</a>, a decision Atlus claims it took to prevent the North American version <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/06/atlus-explains-persona-4-arenas-region-lock-expresses-surprise/">'cannibalizing'</a> its Japanese counterpart. Maybe Atlus should've consulted Murphy's law before making <em>Arena</em> the first PS3 game to have such a constraint.<br /><br />The <em>Persona 4</em> tie-in fighter may be beaten to European retail shelves by Vita re-release <em>Golden</em>. Publisher NIS America is projecting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/28/persona-4-golden-neptunia-victory-aiming-to-hit-europe-feb-22/">a tentative February 22</a> for the latter's release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/05/persona-4-arena-isnt-taking-the-stage-in-europe-this-year/">Persona 4 Arena isn't taking the stage in Europe this year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Nov 2012 13:30:00 EST. At any rate, <em>Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R</em> will be coming to the PlayStation Vita sometime in 2013.<br /><br />Not to be confused with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus"><em>Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus</em></a>, which is coming to Japanese PS3 and XBLA sometime this October, <em>Accent Core Plus R</em> is the revised version of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guilty_Gear_XX#.CE.9B_Core_Plus"><em>Accent Core Plus</em></a> will hit Japanese arcades near the end of this month.<br /><br />I played a quick round of <em>Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R</em> while visiting Arc System Works' booth at the Tokyo Game Show and am thrilled to report that the port feels very solid. Framerates were consistent and my old Sol Badguy bread-and-butter combos came off without a hitch. As is the case with Guilty Gear announcements these days, no information was available regarding a North American launch. We have learned a little more about the game's balance, though: At launch, <em>GGXXACP</em> will temporarily play identically to the PS2 version. Eventually, the game will be patched to reflect the changes made to <em>Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R</em>, which is currently being tested in Japanese arcades.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/22/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-hits-japanese-psn-xbla-this-oct/">Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus hits Japanese PSN/XBLA this Oct.</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Aug 2012 05:00:00 EST. In <em>Persona 4 Arena</em> - an RPG series transformed into a fighter - you have different characters battling it out in a televised tournament. There's a story in there somewhere that fans will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/08/can-rpg-fans-enjoy-persona-4-arena-too/">appreciate</a>, but the Persona games have a history that needs a Ken Burns documentary series to explain. Suffice it to say: despite the genre shift, there's still a lot of fighting going on.<br /> <br /> But <em>Persona 4 Arena</em> is about chaotic battles with avatars doing your dirty work for you, so we're pairing this with the dirty and gritty fistfights from the excellent <em>The Raid: Redemption</em>. If this movie doesn't inspire you to work out, or at least punch someone, then you might need to check your pulse. (Please <em>don't</em> punch each other - Ed.)</div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/12/stiq-flicks-persona-4-arena-and-the-raid-redemption/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Stiq Flicks: Persona 4 Arena and The Raid: Redemption</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/12/stiq-flicks-persona-4-arena-and-the-raid-redemption/">Stiq Flicks: Persona 4 Arena and The Raid: Redemption</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 12 Aug 2012 14:30:00 EST. The exceedingly laggy network play pervasive in the Xbox 360 version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/persona-4-arena"><em>Persona 4 Arena</em></a> has been corrected in record time. The corrective patch is currently live and players will be prompted to update the game as soon as they load <em>P4A</em> up on a Live-enabled Xbox.<br /><br />Joystiq's preliminary testing indicates that the issue has indeed been solved, as all matches played synchronized quickly and were virtually indistinguishable from the game's offline framerate and performance. Unfortunately, this also means that we can no longer blame our devastating losses on performance issues.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/09/persona-4-arena-patched-on-360-xbl-problems-eradicated/">Persona 4 Arena patched on 360, XBL problems eradicated</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Aug 2012 14:00:00 EST. I was wrong, as it turns out, in a surprising and endearing way.<br /><br />Now, while my knowledge of Arc System Works' back catalogue is virtually all-encompassing, my know-how of the Persona series is substantially <em>less-than</em>, which is to say "nonexistent." What a shock it was, then, to be thrown head-first into a developed, storied world with characters I've never known and places I've never seen, only to come out the other side deeply invested and hungry for more. Without a doubt, no fighting game has ever made me care about its characters like this.<br /><br /><em>Persona 4 Arena</em> gave me <em>feelings</em>.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/">Persona 4 Arena</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/#4834165"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/p4ascreens01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/#4834166"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/p4ascreens02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/#4834167"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/p4ascreens03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/#4834168"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/p4ascreens04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/#4834169"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/p4ascreens05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/08/persona-4-arena-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Persona 4 Arena review: Scary monsters, nice sprites</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/08/persona-4-arena-review/">Persona 4 Arena review: Scary monsters, nice sprites</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Aug 2012 15:00:00 EST. Of those copies, 800,000 were unloaded on US street fighters. In celebration of the series' third anniversary in the States, Aksys is holding several contests between now and October. Prizes include signed artwork from developer Arc System Works and an "exclusive" Blazblue wall banner. I certainly can't offer details as to why, but there might be an official response at some point," said an Atlus employee on the company's <a href="http://www.atlus.com/forum/showthread.php?p=289142#post289142">official forums</a>.<br /><br />"To reiterate, our version of the game works for the North and South America regions. Also keep in mind that both the NA and JP versions have both English and Japanese text/voice options, making them nearly identical. I'm unsure of what the case will be for the EU version."<br /><br />While Blu-ray film playback has been subject to regional limitations since the get go, PS3 games have only been limited by the differences between <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL">PAL</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTSC">NTSC</a> -- standards which have waned in relevance since HD televisions became more prevalent.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/05/persona-4-arena-will-be-region-locked-on-ps3/">Persona 4 Arena will be region locked on PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Jul 2012 19:15:00 EST. Immediately, our hearts were all a-flutter with the prospect of a nice limited edition arcade stick.<br /><br />"There is an official HORI stick in Japan," Aram Jabbari told us, "but this is a Mad Catz that we've customized. There is no official North American stick at this time," and as quickly as they had arisen, our hopes were quickly dashed. Jabbari, who is Atlus' Manager of PR and Sales, said we could post about the stick so long as we promised not to insinuate that it was a real product, or that it was ever going to be released. So! Still no word on a North American or European release date, however, but a Japanese release window is a good sign that things are progressing in some fashion.<br /><br />Despite years of inactivity brought on by legal troubles and developmental purgatory, the Guilty Gear series still holds a very special place in the living, beating heart of the fighting game community. So much so, in fact, that arcade parts manufacturing powerhouse Sawna Denshi is producing a limited edition Guilty Gear arcade stick for the PS3, set to launch alongside the game's Japan release.<br /><br />The stick will be available from <a href="http://ebten.jp/sega/">Ebten</a> for &yen;13,980 ($171.95) when it does launch, but since Sanwa only operates in Japan, we doubt it'll make its way to any domestic retailers that don't specialize in importing esoteric wares from the Land of the Rising Sun.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/18/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-coming-to-japan-this-summer-lim/">Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus coming to Japan this summer, limited edition arcade stick in tow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Apr 2012 16:30:00 EST. The game, <em>Xblaze</em>, will be released this fall on unknown platforms in unknown regions, and may tie in with the BlazBlue universe/mythos. <br /><br />No further information is yet available, so at this point the game could be virtually anything. In true Rampant Speculation Theatre fashion, our <strike>hastily concocted</strike> <em>educated</em> guess is as follows: It will be revealed that the "X" in <em>Xblaze</em> is actually pronounced "cross," ala <em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em>. Yes, <em>Xblaze</em> will be the first cross-over fighting game ever to cross over with <em>itself</em>, pitting characters from <em>BlazBlue</em> against characters from, uh, <em>Blazblue</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/24/rampant-speculation-theatre-presents-xblaze-announced-by-arc/">Rampant Speculation Theatre presents: 'Xblaze' announced by Arc System Works</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 24 Mar 2012 17:30:00 EST. Apparently that meant "the tail end of summer," as Atlus has specified a slightly more specific August, 2012 window on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/03/02/persona-4-arena-brawling-to-ps3-this-summer/">PlayStation Blog</a>.<br /><br />When it does launch, the game will include the prerequisite Online mode, as well as a console-only Story mode, which Atlus is attempting to populate with the English voice actors used in <em>Persona 3</em> and <em>Persona 4</em>. In situations where English actors aren't available, we always recommend using Scottish or Welsh actors as a substitute. Their geological proximity to England often gives them a familiarity with local dialects that can be useful when replicating an accent. <br /><br />... Atlus announced plans to localize <em>Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena</em> for PS3 and Xbox 360, under the title <em>Persona 4 Arena</em>, which we won't have to look up every time we write about it.<br /><br />Developed by Arc System Works, the fighter features battles between <em>Persona 3</em> and <em>4</em> characters in high-resolution 2D, and will be delivered to North America this summer. So if you were planning to summon a demon to bring this to you -- or import a copy -- you can cancel plans for those extreme measures.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/">Persona 4 Arena</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/#4834165"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/p4ascreens01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/#4834166"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/p4ascreens02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/#4834167"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/p4ascreens03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/#4834168"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/p4ascreens04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/persona-4-arena/#4834169"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/p4ascreens05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/21/persona-4-fighter-officially-coming-stateside-this-summer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Persona 4 fighter officially coming stateside this summer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/21/persona-4-fighter-officially-coming-stateside-this-summer/">Persona 4 fighter officially coming stateside this summer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Feb 2012 17:45:00 EST. Despite repeated, impassioned cries from our web-based pulpit, Arc System Works is sticking with the full name "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/blazblue-continuum-shift-2">BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2</a>" for the European release on 3DS and PlayStation Portable this November. Blast!<br />
<br />
The game's November 4 launch date was announced by the Japanese dev house and its European publishing partner, PQube, this morning, alongside a slew of new media. But considering the game came out last May in North America, there's a possibility you've already had your fill of video-based gameplay. But have you seen <em>BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2's</em> gameplay ... set to a rockin' metal riff? We thought not!<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-3ds/">BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2 (PSP/3DS)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-3ds/#4491421"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/pspscreen01-1317398365_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-3ds/#4491422"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/pspscreen02-1317398365_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-3ds/#4491423"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/pspscreen03-1317398366_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-3ds/#4491424"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/pspscreen04-1317398367_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-3ds/#4491425"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/pspscreen05-1317398368_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/01/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-dated-for-europe-keeping-silly-name/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 dated for Europe, keeping silly name</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/01/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-dated-for-europe-keeping-silly-name/">BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 dated for Europe, keeping silly name</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 01 Oct 2011 00:30:00 EST. Arc System Works and developer Million, a group of former Technos employees, have resurrected the <em>Kunio</em> series (which we know best from <em>River City Ransom</em>) in recent years with DS-based games like <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/super-dodge-ball-brawlers"><em>Super Dodge Ball Brawlers</em></a>,<em> <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/river-city-soccer-hooligans">River City Soccer Hooligans</a></em>, and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/river-city-sports-challenge"><em>River City Sports Challenge</em></a>. Now, the pair appear to be returning to the origin of the series, with a 3DS game called <em>Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun</em> (<em>Hot Blooded Tough Guy Kunio-kun</em>).<br />

That same title was used for the first game in the series, the absolutely terrible brawler we know as<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/the-vc-advantage-how-to-play-renegade/">Renegade</a></em>. We're hoping Arc is using that title to refer to the overarching series, and not actually returning to the wooden <em>Renegade</em> gameplay style. Or maybe making the same kind of game ... except not awful.<br />

At E3, we saw a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/07/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-being-considered-for-vita-launch/">PlayStation Vita version</a> of <em>BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2</em>. Arc System Works has now officially announced that version, along with new PS3 and Xbox 360 games based on the same revision of the HD arcade fighter.<br />
<br />
Due in Japan this winter, <em>BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend</em> adds a new playable character, <a href="http://blazblue.wikia.com/wiki/Relius_Clover">Relius</a>, new online modes, and all the DLC from the previous console release, among other tweaks. The PS3 and PlayStation Vita versions will share save data for use in the story mode, but Arc System Works has yet to determine whether they'll be able to interact directly in multiplayer.<br />
<br />
All three versions will be playable at Tokyo Game Show, if you happen to be nearby and want an early look.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/31/blazblue-continuum-shift-extend-stretches-to-ps3-xbox-360-and/">Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend stretches to PS3, Xbox 360, and Vita</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 31 Aug 2011 00:00:00 EST. The Playstation 2's swan song, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/shin-megami-tensei-persona-4"><em>Persona 4</em></a>, will reportedly be receiving a fairly hefty re-release on the PS Vita, according to <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/08/31/persona_developments/">A</a><a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/08/31/persona_developments/">ndriasang's</a> recent leak of an upcoming issue of Famitsu. The massive RPG was well-received in the console's twilight months, and will only be <em>massiver</em> once its hits Sony's new handheld (under the subtitle <em>The Golden</em>). The site reports the version will include a new character named Mary, additional voice overs and some kind of wireless functionality that lets online friends help you out in a pickle.<br />
<br />
The magazine also reportedly announces <em>Persona 4: The Ultimate In Mayonaka Arena</em>, a fighter designed by BlazBlue creator Arc System Works for Xbox 360 and PS3. The title will let you brawl as select characters from <em>Personas 3</em> and <em>4</em>, and has a new storyline which follows the events of the latter game. Given the lineage of the developer and franchise, we assume that it's going to be <em>absolutely bananas</em>.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Famitsu has posted its full report on the games <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/news/201109/01049308.html">to its website</a>. This year's <a href="http://evo2k.com/">EVO Championship Series</a> was <em>bonkers</em>, you guys. Not only did MVC legend Justin Wong get <em>perfected </em>into third place during the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/marvel-vs-capcom-3-fate-of-two-worlds"><em>Marvel vs Capcom 3</em></a> grand finals, but <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daigo_Umehara">The Beast</a> took a bewildering fourth place in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/super-street-fighter-4-arcade-edition"><em>Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition</em></a>, ending two consecutive years of first-place victories.<br />
<br />
This was also the first EVO ever to feature a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Mortal-Kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> game, which is a major victory for both NetherRealm Studios and the <em>MK</em> kommunity. Historically, <em>Mortal Kombat</em> titles have never been considered balanced or polished enough to participate in high-level tournaments, and EVO's seal of approval goes a long way in legitimizing <em>Mortal Kombat</em> in the eyes of the fighting community.<br />

Grab some friends this weekend, and indulge in a little (virtual) four-player combat on the cheap. Retro game publisher DotEmu -- the company behind the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/03/another-world-ios/">iPad version</a> of <em>Another World </em>-- just added the two-on-two fighter <em>Guilty Gear Isuka</em> to its DRM-free download shop, for $6.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/23/guilty-gear-isuka-downloadable-through-dotemu/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Guilty Gear Isuka downloadable through DotEmu</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/23/guilty-gear-isuka-downloadable-through-dotemu/">Guilty Gear Isuka downloadable through DotEmu</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 23 Apr 2011 04:00:00 EST. Two updates are coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/blazblue-continuum-shift"><em>BlazBlue: Continuum Shift</em></a> in May -- one free (to you), and one paid. A patch is being prepared, intended to alter the game balance of the console versions to be in line with the arcade release of <em>Continuum Shift 2</em>.<br />
<br />
It will also add new tutorials, new Challenge Mode content for every character, and tweaks and updates to the online mode and its interface. The patch also fixes a problem with Valkenhayn's Achievements in the Xbox 360 version. This won't cost you anything to download, but Aksys will still benefit financially -- the update also puts an ad banner on some in-game screens.<br />
<br />
The same month, Aksys will release a new DLC character, <a href="http://blazblue.jp/ac/platinum.html">Platinum the Trinity</a>, who will have new Achievements and Trophies to unlock. This character will cost $7.99 or 560 Microsoft Points.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-platinum-dlc/">BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (Platinum DLC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-platinum-dlc/#4063224"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/1-1303060371_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-platinum-dlc/#4063226"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/2-1303060379_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-platinum-dlc/#4063227"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/3-1303060388_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-platinum-dlc/#4063228"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/4-1303060394_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-platinum-dlc/#4063229"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/5-1303060401_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/17/blazblue-continuum-shift-patch-new-character-dlc-coming-in-may/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BlazBlue: Continuum Shift patch, new character DLC coming in May</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/17/blazblue-continuum-shift-patch-new-character-dlc-coming-in-may/">BlazBlue: Continuum Shift patch, new character DLC coming in May</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 17 Apr 2011 15:00:00 EST. Nintendo <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/12/wii-play-motion-announced-for-june-13-ocarina-of-time-3d-follo/">said</a> that the 3DS version of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/blazblue-continuum-shift-2"><em>Blazblue: Continuum Shift 2</em></a> would be out in North America on May 24, but publisher Aksys offered a different timetable today, when it officially announced the PSP and 3DS releases of Arc System Works' fighter.<br />
<br />
The bad news is that <em>CS2</em> will actually arrive a week later, on May 31. The good news is that it won't have to needlessly compete with <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dead-or-alive-dimensions"><em>Dead or Alive Dimensions</em></a> by being released on the same day! We have galleries of each version, so the PSP and 3DS releases can battle one-on-one for your fighting game budget. There's also a trailer after the break.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-4-15-11/">BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2 (PSP)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-4-15-11/#4061201"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/abyss1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-4-15-11/#4061202"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/abyss2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-4-15-11/#4061203"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/abyss3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-4-15-11/#4061204"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/abyss4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-psp-4-15-11/#4061205"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/abyss5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-3ds-4-15-11/">BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 (3DS)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-3ds-4-15-11/#4061189"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-3ds-4-15-11/#4061190"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-3ds-4-15-11/#4061191"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-3ds-4-15-11/#4061192"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-3ds-4-15-11/#4061193"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/15/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-coming-to-psp-and-3ds-may-31/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Blazblue: Continuum Shift 2 coming to PSP and 3DS May 31</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/15/blazblue-continuum-shift-2-coming-to-psp-and-3ds-may-31/">Blazblue: Continuum Shift 2 coming to PSP and 3DS May 31</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Apr 2011 19:00:00 EST.
