The $6.99 a month service will not be an on-demand streaming app, but rather an actual television channel with a <em>schedule</em> and <em>everything</em>. All content will be uncensored, in HD when possible, but <em>always</em> dubbed in English, which could be good or bad depending on your personal anime sensibilities.<br /><br />The channel <em>will</em> broadcast advertisements, despite the subscription fee, though VIZ says those ads will be "limited" and help keep the monthly cost below 10 dollars. Announced programming includes <em>Naruto Shippuden</em>, <em>Inuyasha: The Final Act</em>, <em>Death Note</em> and quite a few others, as well as original programming.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/30/viz-media-launching-subscription-based-neon-alley-anime-channe/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIZ Media launching subscription-based 'Neon Alley' anime channel on consoles this fall</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/30/viz-media-launching-subscription-based-neon-alley-anime-channe/">VIZ Media launching subscription-based 'Neon Alley' anime channel on consoles this fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Jun 2012 21:00:00 EST. We can't explain why NIS America's new <em>Bleach</em> game is called <em>Soul Resurrecci&oacute;n </em>without getting into some impenetrable <a href="http://bleach.wikia.com/wiki/Resurrecci%C3%B3n">lore</a>, but we can tell you about the stuff you'll get when you buy it. The first printing of the PS3 game (out August 2) will include vouchers for downloads of episodes 190-192 of the <em>Bleach</em> anime. The offer is available in both the US and Canada.<br />
<br />
In addition, for discerning <em>Bleach</em> fans, NIS America has announced that the North American release of the game will include both Japanese and English audio tracks. Both, judging by the title, will include a little Spanish.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/21/bleach-soul-resurreccion-comes-with-free-episodes-of-bleach-ani/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bleach: Soul Resurreccion comes with free episodes of Bleach anime</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/21/bleach-soul-resurreccion-comes-with-free-episodes-of-bleach-ani/">Bleach: Soul Resurreccion comes with free episodes of Bleach anime</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 Jul 2011 04:00:00 EST. Viz Media, the anime localization super-giant responsible for bringing both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Bleach"><em>Bleach</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Naruto"><em>Naruto</em></a> to North America, will continue its cultural conquest of the western continent by releasing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Professor-Layton-and-the-Eternal-Diva"><em>Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva</em></a> in North American markets.<br />
<br />
The film takes place between the events of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Professor-Layton-and-the-Last-Specter"><em>Professor Layton and the Last Specter</em></a> (due out this fall) and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Professor-Layton-and-the-Diabolical-Box"><em>Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box</em>,</a> and should be available at your local otaku shelter "later this year." The 2009 animated film featuring everyone's favorite <strike>top-hat</strike> professor had previously undergone westernization for its 2010 release in the UK, however Viz Media's adaptation will be the first version available in the US and Canada for those weary of importing.<br />
<br />
The film has been such a success in Japan and abroad that <em>Layton</em> developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Level-5">Level 5</a> has already commissioned a sequel, however there has been no mention of localization for <em>that</em> adventure so far.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/02/professor-layton-and-the-eternal-diva-coming-to-a-dvd-player-nea/">Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva coming to a DVD player near you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 02 Jul 2011 12:00:00 EST. It only took seven <em>Heat the Soul</em> games on the PSP before Sony decided to bring the popular Shonen Jump manga &amp; anime series to the PS3. <em>Soul Ignition</em> is the first Sony-published <em>Bleach</em> game for the PS3, and although details are slim, it appears that at least three of the main characters will have a starring role: Ichigo, Rukia and Ishida.<br />
<br />
<em>Soul Ignition</em> isn't set to be released until 2011, and it's likely to remain a Japan-only release. Sony has -- for reasons unknown to us -- refused to localize any of its <em>Bleach</em> games thus far. Thankfully, like its PSP predecessors, this should be an easy find at an import store.<br />

In the five years since the <em>Bleach: Heat the Soul</em> franchise began, Sony has managed to create seven games, all exclusively for the PSP. Considering <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bleach"><em>Bleach</em></a> is a relatively popular anime series in America, we're dumbfounded by Sony's continued refusal to bring a single one of these games over to America.<br />
<br />
The seventh iteration of the popular fighting game franchise will add four-player battles, according to a report by <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2010/04/13/youre-going-to-fight-giants-in-bleach-heat-the-soul-7/">Siliconera</a>. Perhaps taking a page from <em>Monster Hunter</em>'s tremendous success, you'll be able to fight "giant enemies," something that will most likely require the use of the newly added four-player mode.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/14/bleach-heat-the-soul-7-revealed-still-not-leaving-japan/">Bleach: Heat the Soul 7 revealed, still not leaving Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Apr 2010 10:45:00 EST. What's with the hold-up?<br /><br /><em>Bleach: Soul Carnival 2</em> is, predictably, a follow-up to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/more-bleach-soul-carnival-footage-because-we-cant-get-the-gam/">last year's</a> Chibi-Ichigo brawler. This time around, the game will focus more on the story of the anime, and it will incorporate many scenes from the show as players progress. This teaser trailer ends with "Coming this Winter," which (if you haven't figured it out by now) doesn't apply to you, unless you import.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/20/sony-shows-off-another-bleach-game-you-cant-have/">Sony shows off another Bleach game you can't have</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 20 Sep 2009 05:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dissidia"><em>Dissidia: Final Fantasy</em></a> is just okay. While the time I spent with the game's combat was certainly fun, if repetitive at times, a truly awful story and seemingly arbitrary customization options weigh down an otherwise decent fighting game. After 10 hours and a handful of characters, I was left wondering exactly who the game was intended for -- the <span style="font-style: italic;">FF</span> fan in me loathed the story and the fighting game fan in me wanted deeper, more varied combat. <br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/26/review-dissidia-final-fantasy-psp/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: Dissidia: Final Fantasy (PSP)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/26/review-dissidia-final-fantasy-psp/">Review: Dissidia: Final Fantasy (PSP)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Aug 2009 16:20:00 EST. Video footage of the new <em>Bleach DS 4th: Flame Bringer</em>, spotted by <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/05/18/bleach-ds-4th-and-split-screen-platforming/">Siliconera</a>, reveals the new game to be yet <em>another</em> departure from previous works -- this time, in the form of a side-scrolling action-platformer.<br /><br />The two videos, visible after the break, show Ichigo Kurasaki traversing levels that scroll both horizontally and vertically across both DS screens, and performing crazy sword combos. <span style="font-style: italic;">Flame Bringer</span> is out August 6 in Japan. Prepare thy selves, Twitter fiends, as <a href="http://twitter.com/sega">@SEGA</a> is <a href="http://blogs.sega.com/europe/2009/05/07/this-weeks-freestufffriday-swag-reveal-for-twitter/">giving away goodies</a> as part of its #FreeStuffFriday. The items up for the taking are: <br />
<ul>
    <li><em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/madworld">MadWorld</a></em> Wii decal set, soundtrack CD and poster signed by the PlatinumGames team.</li>
    <li><em>OutRun Online Arcade</em> t-shirt (size large) and free game code.</li>
    <li><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/bleach"><em>Bleach</em></a> Kon plushie and Nintendo DS stylus.</li>
    <li><em>Nights: Journey of Dreams</em> soundtrack CD sampler, wristband and a SEGA sweet.</li>
    <li><em>Football Manager</em> "Gameplay &gt; Polygons" t-shirt (size large) and a SEGA lip balm.</li>
    <li>A grow-your-own venus fly trap plant and a SEGA lip balm.</li>
</ul>
<p>To win the items, Twitter users need to follow @SEGA, which will follow them in return. During Friday, the account will announce the package, along with a "special code phrase." The first follower to direct-message the phrase will win the pack. Sounds simple enough ... unless the "<a href="http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/the_story_of_the_fail_whale.php">fail whale</a>" shows up.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/07/sega-swag-up-for-grabs-this-friday-includes-madworld-nights-stuff/">Sega swag up for grabs this Friday (includes MadWorld, NiGHTS stuff)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 May 2009 10:45:00 EST. Strange, considering it's a Sony first-party game across the pond. The fighting franchise has been getting better with every iteration, with larger casts, better graphics and sleeker presentation. We won't hold our breath for an English language release, so enjoy this footage -- it's the closest we can come to the game without importing it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/13/more-footage-of-the-bleach-games-you-wont-play/">More footage of the Bleach games you won't play</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 Apr 2009 12:30:00 EST. According to the press release, <em>The 3rd Phantom</em> will be out this fall. We have the first English screenshots in our gallery.<br /><br /><em>The 3rd Phantom</em>, unlike the last two DS <em>Bleach</em> games, is a strategy RPG, with an original storyline that "shed[s] light on events that transpire before the animated series begins," focusing on two Soul Reaper twins named Fujimaru Kudo and Matsuri Kudo. The new RPG will feature voice work from the <em>Bleach</em> anime cast. <br /><br />Over fifty playable characters are available, with many unlocked through the management of "personal relationships through in-game dialog interactions and various other conditions." Exactly what <em>Bleach</em> fans want out of their fighting manga series!<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/08/sega-officially-reveals-bleach-the-3rd-phantom/">Sega officially reveals Bleach: The 3rd Phantom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Apr 2009 11:25:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/09/metareview-bleach-the-blade-of-fate/">first</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/23/fresh-screens-appear-for-bleach-dark-souls/">two</a> DS games were fighting games developed by Treasure, and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/03/bleach-the-third-phantom-poisons-everyone-with-new-trailers/">third</a> is an internally-developed tactical RPG. So basically we have <em>no idea</em> what <em>Flame Bringer</em> will be. The official teaser site isn't telling! We'll find out when Sega decides to release any gameplay information at all. We're guessing "RPG," since Treasure just did a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/15/bleach-video-crusade/"><em>Bleach</em> fighter</a> for Wii.<br /><br />And on the subject of its predecessor, GameStop <a href="http:// http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=73893">reveals</a> that <em>The 3rd Phantom</em> is coming to the US! We expect that the September 9 release date is a placeholder, although <em>any</em> Sega release on that date would be very cool.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/03/09/sega-busy-with-another-ds-bleach-game/">Siliconera</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/09/bleach-4th-flame-bringer-announced-in-japan-3rd-phantom-coming/">Bleach 4th: Flame Bringer announced in Japan, 3rd Phantom coming to US</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Mar 2009 16:45:00 EST. Another <em>Bleach</em> game? Sony is beating <em>Madden </em>by making this fighting game a more-than-annual affair. Granted, <em>Heat the Soul</em> is quite possibly the best looking and best playing iteration of the popular anime series on any console. Let's hope Sony isn't tiring the fanbase out a bit too quickly with the number of <em>Bleach</em> games they've created.<br /><br />Maybe SCEA (or Sega?) can help bring one of these games to the States? Since Sega localized both previous Treasure <em>Bleach </em>games for the DS, we wouldn't be too surprised to see this one come along as well. Sega isn't making any hints in this trailer, though -- the Wi-Fi section overlays two gameplay videos over a map of Japan.<br /><br />The trailer looks totally great, if a bit <em>hyperfast</em> for our comprehension! We're anxious (and slightly worried) to see how Treasure fares at creating a 3D fighter.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/15/bleach-video-crusade/">Bleach: Video Crusade</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Dec 2008 19:24:00 EST. Our interest in the DS games has been motivated mostly by love of developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/11/visualshock-speedshock-soundshock-a-look-at-treasures-shoote/">Treasure</a>, and that is certainly driving our desire to play the Wii game as well. <p>Dear Sony Computer Entertainment,<br /><br />You do know that there are a lot of <em>Bleach</em> fans here in the US, right? The DS game, <em>Blade of Fate</em> sold 250,000 copies here in the States. Granted, that's the best-selling <em>Bleach</em> game out there, but we'd like to think that the PSP games would fare pretty well. At the very least, it should sell enough copies to break even -- especially if you release it directly on the PlayStation Store.</p>
<p>If for some reason you don't want to publish it, we'll be glad to take it off your hands. Provided you're willing to sell the license to us for about $42.90. Because that's how much the game costs on import site <a href="http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-57ld-71-bl-77-2-49-en-15-bleach+soul+carnival-84-j-70-2xrb.html">Play-Asia</a>.<br /></p>

There are probably two questions our readers are most likely to have about <em>Bleach: Soul Carnival</em>, PSP's upcoming 2D chibi-reworking of the popular Shonen Jump series. First: is it good? Second: will it come out to the States? In spite of a strong following in the States (and a slew of other <em>Bleach</em> titles on the Wii and DS), it doesn't appear as if there are any plans on bringing any of Sony's <em>Bleach</em> games out of Japan. And that's a shame, really. <em>Soul Carnival</em> looks to be a worthwhile addition to the PSP lineup.<br /><br />The <em>Heat the Soul</em> series on PSP were met with fan excitement, thanks to their diverse rosters and impressive graphics. However, with five iterations in less than five years, it was clear that Sony had milked that franchise a bit too much. With <em>Soul Carnival</em>, the Bleach series moves away from being a serious fighter, to a cute 2D sidescrolling brawler.<br /><br />Well, we approve of the transformation. While the chibi Bleach characters will be love/hate amongst series fans, we have to say that these new cute interpretations of series favs looks rather charming on the PSP's small screen. They style works very well with the gameplay as well. The intuitive beat-em-up controls make the game instantly accessible -- an aspect crucial in good portable games design.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/16/tgs-08-hands-on-bleach-soul-carnival/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 08 hands-on: Bleach Soul Carnival</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/16/tgs-08-hands-on-bleach-soul-carnival/">TGS 08 hands-on: Bleach Soul Carnival</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Oct 2008 16:40:00 EST. If Treasure is going to continue making <em>Bleach</em> fighting games -- <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/09/bleach-versus-crusade-is-hidden-treasure/">Bleach: Versus Crusade</a> </em>is the third, a very unusual occurrence for a developer that shuns sequels in general -- we're going to have to start learning things about the <em>Bleach </em>series. Right now it's "that one anime with the Treasure fighting games." Actually, now that we think about it, that's enough. We don't really care <em>who</em> all these people are; we're quite satisfied to know them only as cool-looking cel-shaded characters in this game, who often fight in tag teams. <br /><br />It's possible that this game will play much like the DS <em>Bleach</em> games. <em>Versus Crusade,</em> according to this <em>Famitsu</em> post, supports both the Classic Controller and the GameCube controller. That doesn't rule out a continuation of the existing Wii <em>Bleach </em>style, but the Treasure involvement suggests otherwise.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/25/bleach-versus-controls/">Bleach: Versus Controls</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Sep 2008 09:55:00 EST. The latest fighting game is called <em>Bleach: Versus Crusade</em>, which is maybe the most straightforward name for a fighting game ever. It looks sufficiently like <em>Shattered Blade</em> that we're going to guess that Polygon Magic is still developing.<br /><br />These scans from <em>Shonen Jump</em> reveal the first screens of the new 3D fighter, which features online battles. In addition, Sega's <em>Versus Crusade</em> <a href="http://bleach.sega.jp/vs">site</a> has opened in teaser form, promising new content on the 29th. The <a href="http://bleach.sega.jp/">Sega x <em>Bleach</em></a> portal site already has a short video of the game in action (it's chapter 2 on the sidebar).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/08/bleach-fighting-goes-online-in-versus-crusade/">Bleach fighting goes online in Versus Crusade</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Sep 2008 16:34:00 EST. Actually, Gamespot's review score for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/06/bleach-wii-screenshot-explosion/"><em>Bleach: Shattered Blade</em></a> is way on the low end of a fairly equal <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/bleachwii?q=bleach">distribution</a> of scores from 35% all the way up to 80%. What does that mean for us? It means we have <em>no idea</em> whether or not we'd like it, and neither does the reviewing community in general. <br /><br />If you ever <em>wanted</em> to try <em>Shattered Blade</em>, either due to <em>Bleach </em>fandom or love of fighting, today would be a good day for it. <p>Sony's been keeping their upcoming PSP-exclusive chibi <em>Bleach</em> game under wraps for quite some time. A trailer hidden in the last <em>Heat the Soul</em> game revealed this upcoming 2D action title, but little has been seen since then. Well, a new Japanese ad is ready to introduce the game to the masses. The game, which will be available in Japan in October, will undoubtedly tear up the sales charts like every other major PSP release these days.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/06/finally-more-footage-of-bleach-soul-carnival/">Finally, more footage of Bleach: Soul Carnival</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Aug 2008 21:00:00 EST. PSP sure does have a ton of <em>Bleach</em> games. At least, in Japan. The upcoming <em>Soul Carnival</em> takes <em>Bleach</em> in a whole new direction. It ditches the 3D fighting of the <em>Heat the Soul</em> series, and replaces it with new chibi-infused 2D platforming action. This brand new PSP exclusive will hit Japan this October ... while the rest of the world sits and waits for <em>any</em> PSP <em>Bleach</em> game to release.<br /><br />The first trailer is re-posted, after the cut.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.psphyper.com/psp/bleach-soul-carnival-confirmed-for-october/">PSPHyper</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/bleach-soul-carnival-gets-october-release-in-japan/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bleach: Soul Carnival gets October release in Japan</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/bleach-soul-carnival-gets-october-release-in-japan/">Bleach: Soul Carnival gets October release in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Jul 2008 14:30:00 EST. With the<span style="font-style: italic;"> Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G</span> craze finally starting to quiet a bit, we don't think it will be too long before the PSP dips closer to DS sales (as long as Nintendo's handheld can maintain its <em>own</em> momentum). Enough about the future, though -- it's all about the <span style="font-style: italic;">now</span>. So, go on and see how software fared last week in Japan by clicking past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/11/another-week-in-japan-hardware-and-software-numbers-6-30-7-6/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Another Week in Japan: Hardware and software numbers 6/30-7/6</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/11/another-week-in-japan-hardware-and-software-numbers-6-30-7-6/">Another Week in Japan: Hardware and software numbers 6/30-7/6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Jul 2008 20:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bleach/"><em> Bleach</em></a> is cool. It's like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/16/fresh-screens-from-bleach-the-third-phantom/">cool kid</a> in a playground of anime, and the fansubbers go mental at the slightest hint of a burnt DVD collection. Hey, nothing wrong with that, it's just some bloggers feel left out, having not caught a single episode in their life. So, it's no surprise that the latest trailers for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/07/bleach-the-one-that-isnt-a-fighting-game/"><em>Bleach: The Third Phantom</em></a> have already been downloaded thousands of times.<br /><br />The above video is the opening cinematic, which is pretty low-budget and lame. It's a DS game, but maybe the tiniest bit of animation wouldn't go astray. Either way, the trailer after the break shows the real meat-and-potatoes of<em> Bleach</em>, and you can check out the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/10/bleach-the-third-phantom-is-an-srpg/">unexpected strategy</a> gameplay in action. <div align="left"><br />This week's stage is by IGN user Tabris_Arkangel, who had <a href="http://supersmashbros.ign.com/users/95387209/Tabris-Arkangel">a lot</a> of custom levels to choose from. We ended up picking "Heco Mundo" [sic] because 1) it rocks, and 2) when do you ever see a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/06/bleach-wii-screenshot-explosion/"><em>Bleach</em></a> stage, really? We've featured a lot of stages here, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/17/brawl-stage-of-the-week-shy-guy/">many</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/brawl-stage-of-the-week-metroid-revisited/">of</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/06/brawl-stage-of-the-week-its-tetris-time/">them</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/22/brawl-stage-of-the-week-super-mario-world/">themed</a>. But <em>Bleach</em>? That's not a concept we often come across. <br /> </div>

When it was confirmed that the sequel to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/09/metareview-bleach-the-blade-of-fate/"><em>Bleach</em>:<em> The Blade of Fate</em></a> would be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/07/ban-kai-sega-to-bring-bleach-ds-sequel-stateside/">arriving stateside</a>, we were ecstatic because, as you all know, the DS needs more good fighting games. And, aside from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/jump-ultimate-stars-translation-project-forked-anxious-gamers-h/"><em>Jump Ultimate Stars</em></a>, this is to be the best. <br /><br />For those of you still waiting to get your hands on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/bleach-dark-souls-gets-japanese-boxart-for-north-america/"><em>Bleach: Dark Souls</em></a> (we realize a great deal of you imported it because you show up at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/game-night">Game Night</a>), check out our gallery below. <p>For some reason, <em>Bleach: Heat the Soul</em> isn't on schedule for a US release. Too bad, because these new gameplay clips from the latest game in the franchise (they're up to #5 now) look pretty solid. Fighting games are few and far on our handheld -- we'd love to see something other than <em>Naruto</em> on the horizon. Perhaps, someone, somewhere, will head our pleas for a US release of any of the <em>Heat the Soul</em> games. Onegai? Until then, we're simply going to have to <a href="http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-57ld-71-bl-77-1-49-en-15-bleach+heat+the+soul-84-j-70-2lwv.html">import</a> the games.<br /></p><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/no-escape-from-these-new-bleach-heat-the-soul-5-clips/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>No escape from these new Bleach: Heat the Soul 5 clips</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/no-escape-from-these-new-bleach-heat-the-soul-5-clips/">No escape from these new Bleach: Heat the Soul 5 clips</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 May 2008 15:45:00 EST. <p>A trailer for an unannounced PSP <em>Bleach</em> game was hidden away in the latest handheld brawler, <em>Heat the Soul 5</em>. As seen by the video, this chibi 2D game is a strong departure for the franchise. This teaser is admittedly short, but we're pretty sure that Sony Japan will release more details shortly.</p>
<p>(And, when are we ever going to see a <em>Bleach</em> PSP game in the US? Please?)<br /></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/bleach-soul-carnival-trailer-hidden-in-heat-the-soul-5/">Bleach: Soul Carnival trailer hidden in Heat the Soul 5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 May 2008 21:00:00 EST. Those of you who've been anxiously awaiting the follow-up to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/22/bleach-sale-time-to-stonewash-your-ds/"><em>Bleach: The Blade of Fate</em></a>, know that the wait is finally over. That's right, folks, we now have the boxart for the game. And even though it shows <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/bleach_ds_2nd_japanese_boxart.jpg">a surprising similarity to the Japanese boxart</a>, we still love it all the same. Oh, you were waiting to <em>play</em> the game? Dude, it's all about the boxart now, nobody <em>plays</em> games anymore.<br /><br />Horrible attempts at humor aside, this has to be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/07/ban-kai-sega-to-bring-bleach-ds-sequel-stateside/">one of the most anticipated DS games</a> right now. A good 2D fighter on the DS that works over Wi-Fi?! The official site is now full of great-looking screens of the <em>Bleach </em>game that somehow is a <em>sequel to</em>, but is not <em>itself</em> a Treasure fighting game. In addition to the screens, which we have collected as a gallery, the website features <a href="http://bleach.sega.jp/3rd/ss02.html">short animations</a> of the combat, which still looks pretty fighting-game-like despite being turn-based. If the animations aren't <em>animated</em> enough for you, the <a href="http://bleach.sega.jp/3rd/system.html">"System"</a> area of the website features a large collection of Flash animations which illustrate the game in action. <br /><br /><em>The Third Phantom</em> is scheduled for a June 26th release in Japan, and we wouldn't be too surprised to see it follow its more <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/09/metareview-bleach-the-blade-of-fate/">action-oriented</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/07/ban-kai-sega-to-bring-bleach-ds-sequel-stateside/">predecessors</a> in localization.<br /><br />
<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gpara.com/article/cms_show.php?c_id=7225&amp;c_num=14">Gpara</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/07/bleach-the-one-that-isnt-a-fighting-game/">Bleach: The One that Isn't a Fighting Game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Apr 2008 18:00:00 EST. <p>We <em>love</em> Japanese game trailers. Especially anime ones. This overly enthusiastic commercial includes one of the most energetic Ichigo performances we've ever heard. Maybe he's really psyched about this upcoming PSP brawler? <em>Heat the Soul 5</em> somehow manages to extend the series to its fifth iteration (in the course of three years!) -- introducing new characters and fighting elements to the mix. With the current popularity of Bleach in the States, you'd think at least <em>one</em> of these PSP-exclusive fighting games would cross the Pacific. Right?</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/28/super-exciting-bleach-heat-the-soul-5-trailer/">Super-exciting Bleach: Heat the Soul 5 trailer!!!!!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 28 Mar 2008 15:30:00 EST. We haven't seen a lot of custom skins made by our readers, so we were pretty excited when <a href="http://thatgirlssite.com/">That Girl</a> sent in pictures of her skin, adapted from a wallpaper. The colors and design really suit her DS Lite perfectly, and it's always nice to see someone tastefully customizing their handheld while giving a nod to another fandom. It's not just the outside that's <span style="font-style: italic;">prettified</span>, either; hit the jump to see the inside of the DS.<br /><br />Have <span style="font-style: italic;">you</span> made a custom skin or anything else Nintendo-related? Some fantastic screenshots of the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bleach/"><em>Bleach: Heat the Soul 5</em></a> have wound up on the interwebs today, courtesy of <a href="http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20080312/blc.htm">Game Watch</a>. The freshly picked screenies depict the all new two-on-two tag gameplay at work. <br /><br />It looks like the tag action will be the core of the gameplay as choosing the right type of tag team will determine special moves and the like. There are three different styles of tag teams: offensive, defensive, and technical. So far only 30 characters have been revealed out of a planned 42. A bit of a step down from <em>Bleach 4's</em> 51-strong roster, but who knows if any more hidden characters will pop up.<br /><br />Currently, <em>Bleach: Heat the Soul 5 </em>is set for release in Japan on May 15th. <em>Bleach 5 </em>looks to be the biggest <em>Heat the Soul</em> title so far. Could it be the first one to cross over the Pacific and into North America?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/bleach-heat-the-soul-5-screens-show-off-tag-battles/">Bleach: Heat the Soul 5 screens show off tag battles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Mar 2008 14:00:00 EST. <br />Likely surprising no one considering the popularity of the <em>Bleach</em> manga/anime series, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Sega">Sega</a> announced its plans to publish <em>Bleach: Dark Souls</em> (or <em>Bleach DS: 2nd Kokui Hirameku Requiem</em>, as it's known in Japan), the follow-up to <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bleach">Bleach: The Blade of Fate</a></em>, this summer in North America.<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/treasure">Treasure</a>-developed 2D fighter features a number of improvements on the original:<br />
<ul>
    <li>an exclusive storyline that takes place in between the series's first and second season</li>
    <li>44 playable characters (<em>The Blade of Fate</em> has 26)</li>
    <li>30 new Power-up Cards and Power Crystals</li>
    <li><em>Bleach</em> encyclopedia containing "fun and interesting facts about the entire <em>Bleach</em> universe"</li>
</ul>
All that comes on top of the game's four-player online battles and multi-plane stages. Hit the gallery below for English-translated screenshots from <em>Dark Souls</em>, or check past the break for a two-minute trailer from the Japanese release.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/07/ban-kai-sega-to-bring-bleach-ds-sequel-stateside/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ban-kai!: Sega to bring Bleach DS sequel stateside</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/07/ban-kai-sega-to-bring-bleach-ds-sequel-stateside/">Ban-kai!: Sega to bring Bleach DS sequel stateside</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 07 Mar 2008 14:15:00 EST.
